We stumbled upon the Broadway Market in Sonoma when we were on our way from our Air B & B to Jack London State Park. We needed provisions for our hike, including a light lunch. We saw the sign in front of the building which said they had award winning sandwiches, so we thought we'd give it a try. We entered and found our way to the deli counter where we were greeted by a sandwich maker. Once we made our choice--ham and turkey with provolone on crusty white sourdough bread with mayo, pickles, lettuce and tomato, we waited for the assembly. While waiting we pondered grabbing a pasta salad from the tasty looking assortment on the shelf to accompany our sandwich but in the end opted for a container of local California strawberries, and chips (plain for the hubs and oil and vinegar for yours truly). While at the register the friendly cashier suggested a Mexican marzipan style cookie, which we readily agreed to. Lunch was delicious later as we sat on a park bench by a peaceful pond in the middle of Jack London state park. My husband particularly enjoyed the bread. We'd recommend the market to anyone in need of a delicious sandwich and we'll be back next time we're in Sonoma. They also had a plenteous supply of groceries. read more

It's shocking to me how bad the food is here with all the positive reviews. The woman taking orders at the deli was rude and dismissive. A burrito on the menu is something premade that they pop in the microwave if you want it hot? The food truck people are nice but the fries I ordered were not crispy at all and the chili on top of them was cold. Do I have to ask for my food to be hot when I order it? There is a reason why this place has won best sandwich in Sonoma for the last ten years. We are tourists, we came here TWICE for lunch but I wouldn't have minded if we also came for breakfast and dinner hahahaha. You go all the way back to the deli, grab a paper and pen and fill out the sheet on how you want your sandwich. Then place it on the counter and they stick it in line. Sandwiches take a few minutes especially if you want it hot or toasted. If you want a burrito or some special not on the paper, just announce it to them and they'll make a paper and put it in line. They put a ton of meat of the sandwiches. We were very pleased. I went with the cucumber which was 0.50 extra so my sandwich was $15.99. My husband got the pesto which is also an extra charge. They forgot the pesto but we took the sandwich to go, so we didn't realize that. The next time we got lunch, I had the burrito and it needed salsa or hot sauce. Luckily, we ate outside in the covered seating area and I was able to go back in to get hot sauce AND the pesto sauce they forgot a second time. What is it about the pesto that they forget? They offered to remake the sando but I said no just gimme a side. Apparently there is hot sauce by the microwave FYI. The store has all kinds of drinks and snacks. We grabbed two small bags of chips. They also have premade meals for lunch dinner and even breakfast. Everything looked so good. If I lived there, I would shop all the time. They have a butcher shop as well. There is a small bathroom around the back for customers. And a sink in the covered eating area to wash your hands. Parking is along the street or their little lot. Check this place out. Love this place. We were on our way home to Rocklin (2-hour drive) yesterday and stopped by the market for lunch. The atmosphere is classic, old-school market with narrow isles packed to the ceiling with great stuff. Where we come from everything is corporate. This place is like a trip back in time to my home town Bay Area market. The deli counter is hidden in the back but well worth it! The two ladies working the sandwich line yesterday were really fun and made the best sandwiches ever! I had the BBQ Chicken Chipotle sandwich which is fantastic! As a native of Sonoma, I was appalled by how my husband was treated while ordering a sandwich at this market. He politely handed his written order to one of the deli workers, said "thank you," and waited nearby. A short time later, he was abruptly and rudely asked what he was waiting for. When he explained that he had placed a sandwich order, the worker told him they didn't have it. He realized he might have forgotten to write his name on the slip, so he gave them his name and even pointed to the employee who had taken his order. Still, both employees insisted they had no order for him. Frustrated by the dismissive and rude attitude, my husband walked away and settled for a pre-made sandwich instead. The premade sandwiches used to be a staple. You could grab them and go. Not only has the price doubled but the amount of meat has shrunk. The Mayo is non-existent, you cannot eat them without adding your own. It's one thing to raise the price, but to raise the price and reduce the quality is just being greedy. Boo to the new owners. So, I've ordered the egg salad many times and ordered two sandwiches today. The egg salad which used to be delicious, has lots of relish in it! If I wanted relish put it as an option. The sandwiches are a 6 out 5 but the operational efficiency is a 0 which brings us to a 3. The crappy part is I won't go back because of how long it takes. Seriously, an order ahead of us (4 ppl) & it took about 30 minutes before we got ours. They had 5 people working the sandwich area but essentially 1 or 2 were actually doing something while 1 or 2 were overseeing for whatever reason and 1 was overseeing the people overseeing. We needed a couple of sandwiches for a day at Portuguese Beach and this place was on the way. We're quite happy we stopped here since the sandwiches were delicious, and we discovered a place we need to visit again with an ice chest! We got a turkey, salami and Swiss on a sour crunch roll and a liverwurst and Swiss on the same roll. These were both really good! We also got potato salad and a pasta salad that were both great as well. The meat counter was quite intriguing and we will return to get a pork tri-tip (what?) and a bunch of delicious looking sausages. It seems like a little boring convenience store from the outside that wouldn't have much in it, but then SURPRISE -- they have the best deli ever! Seriously. Such a wide variety of meats. We bought a beautiful tri-tip here for a great price. You'll find all the meats you need! My mom always gets a roast beef sandwich made on local sourdough and she loves them. It's great to come in here because it's nice and cool, the staff is super friendly, and even when its crowded you get through the line quickly. It's my favorite deli sandwich because of the nostalgia, been coming to broadway for over 25years now! You create your own with tons of options the possibilities are endless. The Dutch Crunch bread is the best but sometimes they sell out. You can't find places like this often, the amazing selection of different foods, foods to go, to die for sandwiches, large wine selection, hot breakfast sandwiches and burritos that are premade and ready to grab and go early in the morning, this place just can't be beat, trust me there's more than I can remember. Hot ribs, chicken and pork, ready to go and eat right outside in their huge tent. If I had a place like this by my house, I'd be there once a day, every day!. I loved this place. Was staying at a VRBO around the corner and found it. They have the best sandwiches! So cheap! $6-7 dollars for a full size sandwich. The Dutch crunch bread is so delicious! I'm a Bostonian and travel to Sonoma to visit family & friends. Because of Covid-19 I hadn't traveled until this past week in March, 2021. I visit this fantastic place every time I come to Sonoma. However, the highlight for me every time is the wonderful sandwich they create for me to help me through the 5.5-hour flight home to Boston. Without sounding crazy-superlative, it's hard to describe what a delight it is to open that sandwich (usually somewhere over Utah) and see the great bread, lettuce tomatoes, & pepper turkey waiting for me. To use an expression learned somewhere: "Ah've died and gone to heaven!" Of course, besides the sandwiches, they've got coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and just about anything anyone would need for any occasion, be it work or a party. To top it all, the folks who work the counters and run the place are mighty friendly. On my most recent trip, one of them even recalled my last visit in 2019. Nice! Go there! All of the ingredients are fresh and they make your sandwich quick. It gets busy around lunch, although they always have enough employees working so you don't wait long.
