Dance With Me Austin caught our attention because they offer dance lessons for wheelchair users…read more They're located inside The Domain, and when we arrived, the first thing I noticed was the wall of glass windows. You can see everything from the outside, and I'll be honest, I felt a little awkward knowing people could watch us. Once inside, I noticed several couples dancing with different instructors and had a moment of nervousness, wondering if there would be enough space for us. Then we met our instructor, Johnny, and all of that disappeared. He is an absolute delight. From the start, he made us feel comfortable, relaxed, and completely at ease. I quickly forgot about the windows and the other dancers. We had plenty of room, and that's entirely thanks to how Johnny guided the lesson. Even though we were doing a shorter intro session, he managed to teach us all the basics to the song we chose. Somehow, it felt incredibly intimate and personal, even in such a large, open space. We had so much fun that we've decided to continue our lessons. Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for an inclusive, welcoming place with truly wonderful instructors.

The instructors are beyond talented, but what makes them so special is their kindness, patience, and the way they believe in you even when you doubt yourself. They meet you where you are, and then somehow bring out the very best in you every single time. Over the course of my journey here, I've not only learned how to dance with more skill and grace, but I've also found a community filled with joy, encouragement, and laughter. Every lesson feels like a celebration, and I always leave lighter and happier than when I came in. Dance With Me isn't just a studio it's a place where confidence, artistry, and friendships grow. I'm forever grateful for the love, passion, and family I've found here

My 3 year old daughter is currently enrolled in the one hour weekly tap/ballet class for 3-5 year…read moreolds. We first came to this location for music classes through Tunebugz, and now we are coming for dance. Upon beginning dance, my daughter was a little apprehensive and she vascillated between loving dance one week and hating out the next. This was primarily attributed to her being a sometimes shy 3 year old. Over time, with the help of her instructors, she has grown to love coming. The instructors are both skilled and upbeat. The kids love them. They pace the class well and it appears that they have good class structure/thought out lesson plan. Looking in at other older classes, there seems to be some truly skilled dancers here. The studio is very clean and nicely updated. We pay just over $80 per month for my daughter. The lady that runs the front desk is super sweet and incredibly helpful when you have questions. All of the older girls that dance there seem to be very polite and none of them run over the little ones when things get busy in the hall after class. They all seem to watch out for the littles. The parking is sufficient and they have lockers for some of the older girls. That said, there are just a couple of small things to be aware of, if you choose this class. The particular dance studio that they use for this specific class is in the middle of their facility where there is just not much seating and the hall narrows. Since these are the youngest dancers, many parents want to be near the window and/or door. Many of us sit on the floor in the hall and its tight for all of the people that do. Personally, I enjoy watching, but more importantly I want to keep an eye on the door for safety reasons (my child is 3 and if she leaves the room to come get me to potty, I don't even want to chance her heading the wrong direction when there are 2 exterior doors or worse, her being intercepted by the wrong person. I tend to be extra cautious, so this may not bother some parents. If you sit in the lobby, there are plenty of seats, but you can't see that studio's door from most of them. They should probably consider switching studios for the youngest dancers and put the older kids in the center studios. The only other thing to be aware of is that the center can get pretty warm. The front has a lot of windows and, being Texas, the Sun can really blast them. So dress appropriately if the weather is hot and sunny. Overall, we really like this place and would certainly recommend this center.

The studio is well organized, and they maintain a culture of supportiveness, encouragement, inclusion and kindness, which is so important for youngsters when learning how to do anything but especially any performance art. My daughters just finished dance camp this week and it was the most fun week of their little lives. As a dad, this place could not make me more prouder of the joy they bring out in my daughter…read more I am not a dance academy dad or a "helicopter parent" but I can personally testify to witnessing the caring instructors and meticulous concern they have towards the kids enjoying the freedom of dance. I have attended a year end dance recital with ages from toddlers to teenagers and was impressed (along with many other parents/families). Their care and showmanship convinced me when my daughter said: "daddy I want to dance on that stage"... that's all a parent needs to hear to know that your child enjoys what they do and how they help the kids reach that goal. The staff is always informative, the facility is clean, they have basic coffee, cakes, and refreshments for sale while you wait in the lobby, and while you wait in the lobby... you can watch your child's classes on large screen TV's from the cameras they have mounted in the room. Personally, I think this is the best way to help parents monitor the kids and isolate the instruction. You can see that the kids are NOT distracted by observing parents and you can silently smile knowing that they are getting personalized instruction. In my daughters group there are boy dancers as well, and as you know, boys play like boys; the instructors handled all situations well and kept the whole class of 10-13 students on time and focused with instruction. Our daughter is attending the Jazz/Tap/Ballet and the program really does develop her skills in dance, understanding of the dance, and allows her to just be a kid to overcome stage fright or show nerves. I am not sure how long we will attend "The Dance Works", but we will as long as our daughter wants us to bring her there.

This doesn't mean much to most people, but I think it is what made the school so welcoming and family-like in the past. In recent years, I have heard nothing but bad things, with parents and students alike feeling that the school has become more about the "business", more elitist, and more snobbish. I haven't been back since 2014 so I cannot comment on the accuracy of these statements, but something to keep in mind. This is a review for the adult classes only. I've danced for most of my life, but have not focused on any particular style. I tried out both Adult Jazz and Adult Ballet. Jazz was great - there was a thorough warmup, some across-the-floor combinations, and then an actual piece of choreography that we were going to learn and perform at the school recital! The instructor was awesome and friendly, accommodating the wide range of skills in the classroom. I didn't like ballet as much, but that's probably because I'm more used to the standardized class formats that are used at company feeder schools like Boston Ballet and Ballet Austin. There was less structure in the ballet class and - even though there were only 3 students that day - I felt like corrections were too generalized, unhelpful, and not given enough. Overall, a great place for recreational-level adult dance, but if you want to really work on and perfect your technique, I suggest you go elsewhere. The adult classes are really geared towards beginner-level individuals. Not a bad thing, just not what I needed at the time.

I was very nervous about social dancing. Dominic is a patient, clear teacher, incredibly clever at seeing and helping us correct our difficulties as we learn a dance. All the teachers are friendly and cheerful. Dancing has been great gentle exercise, and we always have fun. Recently, we rented the studio venue for an anniversary party for about 60 people. The space was more than adequate for that crowd, plus we had plenty of room for dancing, the buffet line, and the large photo booth. Dominic is great to work with and knows events. Cost was quite reasonable. He was on hand to help us with details. The studio provided set-up tables, chairs and linens. There is also a kitchen with a pass-through window and we put our beverages in their refrigerator. There is a big TV in the larger dancing room, and we ran a slide show there, which guests enjoyed. In addition, we created our own music playlist and the studio ran that through their sound system.

When we got there, they informed us that the person doing the class was not there yet. A few minutes later they told us they were not showing up and they rescheduled us with barely an apology. We were annoyed but accepted it and rescheduled. Today, I had to get a babysitter sitter again to make the class. I live in Leander and was getting all the red lights. I tried to call them at 9.40. No answer or call back. My sister got there before and told them I was running late. I pulled in at 10.06 am. They had told my sister they would open the door for me. But after standing outside for over 5, I realized they were not going to let me in. I also felt disrespected of my time and unwelcome. I don't leave bad reviews and I work in customer service. I would never treat someone the way I was treated. I also have not gotten a refund. My response- I understand policies. But I was cancelled last week upon arrival because the instuctor did not show up. That's not be acknowledged. I tried to call and communicate. It was insinuated to my sister that the door would be opened so I stood outside for over 5 after arrival. I have grace last week, and expect the same in return. And that was not shown. It goes both ways. Have a great day.
