Great food! Good service. Almost afraid to tell others about this gem. Stopped for lunch on a Friday with friends. I had the Monterey Chicken a yummy sandwich with grilled chicken, cheddar, bacon and a sweet bbq sauce. Great flavor combination. Coleslaw is excellent- tastes like it is made fresh by a home cook. My friend really like the walleye dinner and the rye bread with a slice of onion. Clam chowder was excellent. There is nothing I could have told them to improve on the meal. I wanted to like this place, but I told the server me and my sons were allergic to wheat....Honestly allergic, not a life choice. Couldn't eat the French fries because they cover them in flour, or the soup, thickened with flour. He brought us a salad with croutons, I tried picking them off but it was clear they'd been sitting there for a while cause they crumbled everywhere. I had to have him redo. Then he brings baked beans and bread, both containing wheat. The $17 sautéed scallops consisted of 5 horribly over cooked scallops. Pretty sure the mashed potato's came out of a box, then he tried to give us wheat gravy. Really??!! read more

Waitress service is extremely slow, even just to get a cup of coffee and they were not busy. At one point I got up to refill my coffee and the older lady who definitely gets waitressing as she asked me nicely to sit down so she could bring me coffee, that I should not have to get my own when I'm out to eat. I also notice the older lady working - cleaning tables, refilling others coffee setting table (our waitress dumped off four place setting at the corner of the table), filling coffees, asking if everything was okay during the meal, clearing plates, etc. I can only hope the younger one takes some pointers from her. Our food quality for a little diner up north was good. If you are to dine here for breakfast, I would suggest eating at the bar if that is an option. read more

We wandered in looking for a fish fry New Years day evening. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated at the bar, offered a menu, and a waitress even took our order before seating us at a table. The food was mediocre at best. The perch was decent and very plentiful, but my fiancé had the walleye and he said it tasted like it had been in the freezer too long. And the onion on rye sandwich that was served as part of the meal was just weird. The service was timely, but our waitress was not the friendliest and simply went through the motions of serving dinner. I wouldn't tell people to avoid this restaurant, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it either. read more

I have moved to the area about a year ago, The Friday Fish Fry is the one of the best in the area, I'm a fan of the perch-Get the large, it reheats great. The breakfast is hearty and above average. The eggs benedict is out of this world--Best hollandaise sauce I've ever had, with a thick slab ham, covered with poached eggs that are soft and hot. This is a consistently above average meal with moderate pricing. I recommend it to all. read more
