Bluefront Café in Sturgeon Bay is an absolute standout. I ordered the huevos rancheros, and it's hands down the best I've ever had....this is a must! My friend ordered the Cubano sandwich and loved it, and another friend had the avocado toast with egg salad on sourdough, which was thoughtful, fresh, and elevated far beyond the usual café fare. We were in Sturgeon Bay doing some shopping and I did a Google search for vegetarian restaurants and Bluefront came up and we decided to give it a try. Loved it. Very cute place with some really interesting food with lots of vegetarian options but also lots of meat based dishes as well. I tried the Banh Mi and it was amazing. Its 5-spice marinated grilled pork, pickled daikon & carrot, cilantro, cucumber, Sriracha-lime mayo, on rustic roll. Lots of flavor and the pork was very tender and had great flavor. I also tried the soup of the day which was smoked ham with mushrooms and was very full of flavor. My wife ordered an Asian bowl with tofu and it was loaded with tons of fresh vegetables in a spicy asian broth. She loved it and it was served warm and was a huge serving. Fantastic experience today. Went for lunch and found the place quaint, inviting and rather minimalist. Menu had several interesting choices. Mine was influenced by a man I met on the street as he was leaving. Asked what he had today and heard back "Mufalata Sandwich." It was delicious. Wifey had the Asian Chicken Wrap. Generous chicken, heavy vegetables that were fresh and bright, and a ginger dipping sauce. Clean plate club. The Mufalata Sandwich was superb. Ham, salami, provolone cheese with spinach leaves and heavy mufalata (olive) spread on a lightly toasted bun. Serving was filling. Both sandwiches were served with the side of the day, which was apple fennel coleslaw. Delicious ! We joined others in the restaurant and tried their Hibiscus iced tea. Very different, something we would normally not order but everyone in the place was having it with their lunch. Good decision. My favorite place to get lunch in Sturgeon Bay! They have a good sized menu with a variety of vegetarian options. Many things can also be made GF or vegan upon request. Do note that there has been a wait each time I've been here. Sometimes it's 30 minutes, sometimes it's 3! Either way, it's worth the wait, but maybe have a little snack because the food can take a bit of time to come out too. My favorite thing to order in the Banh Mi Rice bowl with Tofu. It is such a beautiful assortment of veggies, some pickled, and some perfect for dipping. It makes for a fresh and healthy option that is quite filling. My wife enjoys the Banh Mi sandwich. She did try the Po Boy veganized, but felt it was missing something this time around. I have not tried firsthand but the Asian Chicken Wrap is very popular amongst our family members. Defintely get the fries as a side! They are simply the best. Service is always friendly and attentive. Plenty of parking around the neighborhood or in the lot diagonal of the restaurant. The space is clean and airy, perfect for a lunch stop. Tons of outdoor seating as well. Do yourself a favor and visit Bluefront! read more

This place was a perfect spot for lunch while visiting a friend up in Sturgeon Bay! It was lunch hour and the place was very busy but we were able to be sat right away. The restaurant was very clean and the server was very friendly. The place was pretty busy considering it was lunch hour so the service did take a bit. Unfortunately, my friend had to go back to work as soon as the food arrived and had to take her food to go. I ordered the Noodle Bowl with pork belly. Overall, it was pretty good! The pork was cooked well and it was a nice warm meal on a cold day! My friend got the fish tacos, which later she said were pretty good. Yelp steered us here and I'm glad. Everyone was extremely nice and our waiter was incredibly professional. The place is not large so expect a wait, but maybe not. We arrived when there was a very large group still eating. When they left, 4 tables opened up immediately. The muffuletta was huge. Lots of meat and cheese. Even though the fresh spinach and the bread are not traditional, my husband said it was the best he ever had- and he is a New Orleans muffuletta fanatic. The Bahn Mi sandwich was also a treat. Filled with fresh veggies and a nice amount of roast pork. I have to mention the fries. Even though an up charge, our waiter suggested we go for it. We ate every last one, and we got a lot! The restaurant is a little off the beaten path, but worth the trip. It's a quaint little place, right on the bay. It wasn't very busy when we went for lunch, but the service was super. Looking for a lunch spot finds us in Sturgeon Bay, and after looking at the Yelp app I decided to pull in here and park on the street. we arrived at 12:45 on a Saturday to find a 40 minute wait but undaunted we settled in, while the waiting area is smallish we could have ordered a beer or other beverage to help pass the time. Looking over the menu and I have to say it is deceptively simple, I am usually really good at seeing between the lines having written a few menus myself. Yet perhaps it was the rumble in my belly that distracted me or the great conversation with my lady I was not prepared for what was to come. We both ordered cheese burgers, and the fact they make half pound patties by hand was evident when we got them. The fries were so good, some of the best I have ever had in a restaurant. Talking to our server they pride themselves on homemade food and the best ingredients, many of which come from the small garden out back or from local farmers. We decided to go here for lunch. We arrived around 1130am and the place was mostly empty. By 12:15p there was a long line to get in. This is definitely a happening place to go. They have good friendly service. Our server was helpful and made sure to inform about nut allergy. Most of their food items contain cashew so if some is severely allergic to nuts, I would not recommend this place. Their kids grilled cheese was average as it was just white bread with couple of cheeses. Their vegetarian brie was a mix of grill cheese, sweets, and nuts. What a perfect, cozy diner this was. While it was surprising that they are only open for about four hours a day, I am very glad we were able to eat here, while they were open. Their coffee and scones are divine. The interior is really cute and cozy, and there are some nice seating options outside as well.
