We were leaving our camping spot and I had heard that this little eclectic diner had good grub. It has an antique vibe with cows, pictures, roosters, etc abound in the decor. The menu is pretty straightforward, my wife had French Toast with a side of bacon. I had a pancake with sausage patties. First the bad, and it was minor. They only have sugar and the pink saccharine packets, no other alternative sweeteners. They also don't want you to tip on the check. They want you to pay cash for the tip. My wife said the French Toast was good and the thick cut bacon was phenomenal. My pancake was huge and filled the plate. The sausage patties were flavorful and the pancake was fluffy and filling. Stopped here on a road trip. Fantastic burgers and fries! All the food looked great- waitress was super friendly and the service was fast. Prices were reasonable and portions were filling. My husband and I stopped on a Saturday around 11:00. We were seated and a short time later our waitress stopped by to take our drink orders. We were given breakfast menus. I wasn't really in the mood for breakfast, and asked if I could order lunch. After checking with the kitchen I was given the okay to order lunch, (except for the broasted chicken). I decided on the smokehouse burger and fries. The burger was perfectly cooked and topped with melted smoked cheddar, lettuce tomato, bacon. The fries were crispy and golden. Our server was friendly and engaging. The decor is country modern and there are various window hangings, and other collectibles on sale. Let's start with the stuffed French Toast. They use canned cherries. Ummm hello where are they located. After an hour our breakfast comes out NOT FULLY COOKED. When we pulled up at 8:15 AM on a Tuesday and there was no one in the parking lot. I was kind of scared too try this place. I am so glad we did!!! Great hidden gem just south of Sturgeon Bay. I have been a regular customer of this business for about 10 years. Have always had very good food and service. I was disappointed yesterday to find that they were not adhering to the guidelines for Covid prevention in eating establishments. Our waiter was not wearing a mask and when I asked about it she said she couldn't breathe with it on. Also there were other staff and customers who were allowed in without masks. Cannot rave enough about this wonderful, delicious, friendly, family owned business. Checked into a rental late on a Friday night, and went looking for food with our three 7 year old granddaughters. A farmer on the road recommended BD. When we walked in we realized they had just closed. Long story short-the mother, 2 sons, (owner) and 2 young waitress's all insisted we stay and were all happy to serve us. The food was delicious, fresh and all home made. The chicken soup was to die for, and chicken strips and chips were best ever! Our little girls were in awe of the pretty servers and the owners were having us sample food. We had so much fun and the food was so good we even stayed for their homemade desserts-poppyseed custard torte and an Oreo thing. Smells like cigarettes They must allow indoor smoking. Coffee tasted like brown water. I ordered they haystack, the hash browns were not browned or crispy. The homemade potato chips were incredible and the chicken booyah was hearty and flavorful! The real star was the dessert! Went in for a sunday breakfast sat for 20 min before any one came over. i ordered coffee took another 20 min to get to order the food. I wanted to order breakfast but was told they stopped serving at 11:00 it was 15 after and I sat down at 10:35. I asked to see the manager about this. an elderly woman came over and started arguing with me about the lack of room to cook breakfast and lunch at the same time and they were not going to serve breakfast after 11 so ordered a burger and fries 35 min later it shows up burger was over cooked and the fries were soggy the waitres exsplained the frier was not at the correct heat so it made them soggy. The nail in the coffin for the place was they did not take credit cards, they have an atm that they charge for. over all the place was loud and full of unplesant orders. it looked like a garage sale gone bad with all the junk for sale. Staff and owner were rude and in no way going to solve the problemes they have. Food was way over priced even if it was good the size was to small. Not what I expected. I guess I should have gone there for breakfast. I had the boo yah. It said with homemade noodles but there was not a noodle in the bowl. My husband had the potato bacon soup and it was pretty good. We got soup and salad so that we could enjoy pie after dinner. Had to put one star as it does not allow for zero. Went to try it weeks ago and found it was closed. Went back for free chicken this week it was open but had to sit for 35 minutes as locals got waited on after asking for help I sat for an hour before I got my food. The chicken was over cooked and cold the place was dirty and reeked of perfume. I asked for more soda and was told no by an older over jeweled and over perfumed lady, she then stated that I would need to leave as they needed to use the table for a larger group. Decided to try the Belgian Delight for breakfast on a Sunday morning. When we entered the restaurant about one-fourth of the tables were taken. Our orders were taken and the wait for the food to be served was unbelievable. 30-45 minutes passed before we were served our breakfast. The waitress first served us someone elses order, discovered the error when we told her that wasn't what we ordered. Sometime later our order arrived and the food was quite good. Glasses of water were requested but the waitress had to be reminded to serve them. The check was never delivered. I had to stand by the register near the door and request the check so payment could be made. If you have a great amount of time, and do not care how long it takes to have your food served this restaurant will meet your expectations. read more
