Omelette with white bread and fried potato
Sujoy S.

No frills, cosy place to start your day at... right by the lake in Algoma. It's a family run business and the ambiance is homely. We got a table at the window and thoroughly enjoyed our time in the sun. Me and my wife had ordered two varieties of the omelette with potato fries and bread, and loved the food. No complaints about the coffee also and we were asked about refill a few times... thanks for that! One inconvenience though was that their card reader was broken. So we had to drive back to our motel, bring in the cash and then order.

The food was good. Service was Slowwwwww! Sat down. Greeted right away. And then!! Took 15 minutes to get our order taken. Another 30 minutes to get food. It was 2 cheeseburgers and onion rings. The manager or owner (Dean?) was behind counter and spent 10-15 minutes trying to change the tape on the cash register. Poor customer service. Saw 7 people sit down and leave due to time of service. Check this place off the list. There has to be better places in Algoma. It was Memorial Day so we stopped at the first place we saw. Should have went further in to town. Saw "smashed on the rocks" and wished we ate there instead.

Chicken Omlete

Beautiful view from this establishment that could use a little love, plus interestingly the bathroom was accessed by going outside. Bacon was cooked well as requested and Omlete was tasty with grilled chicken. Salsa was okay and the toast was overly buttered, the French toast was like I cooked it at home, the home fries were tad off tasting due to being deep fried.

Best Breakfast In The County 2016 & 2017!!

Foods great!! I had the breakfast walleye and the fish was super fresh!! The service unfortunately was slow and we had to ask for refills of our coffee several times which was unfortunate. Normally I would give this place a three star due to the service but it seems to be a common occurrence in Algoma. Regardless, I will be back every time I am in the area as the food was very good!!

The Early Bird with sourdough toast

The day after the 4th it was extremely hard to find an open breakfast place towards Luxemburg and Algoma. Luckily for us, Dairy Dean's was open! We driven by this place multiple times, but never stopped. It's a VERY tiny place, but the staff works hard to make sure tables are cleared promptly to ensure folks walking in the door can be seated ASAP. The menu is your standard greasy spoon breakfast fare- eggs dishes, skillets, waffles, etc. I ordered one of their breakfast sandwiches. It was supposed to come on an English muffin, but they ran out so I had it on sourdough instead. Tasty sandwich, but the bacon could've been cooked a bit more. I wouldn't make a special trip up to eat here, but if I was in the area and wanting breakfast I'd stop again!

This place sits at the crossroads of Algoma, WI. If you are looking for a place where the locals go to eat, this is it. Local foods at local prices prepared by local cooks and served by locals. The place was standing room room only. There were only about 10 tables in the place. I had the hash and egg skillet. Too much food for me. The skillet came with 2 eggs, corned beef hash, hash browns and toast. The skillet was good and served hot. Service was good but the 1 server was overworked. The placed was clean but needs an update. Dairy Dean's gets 4 of 5 stars. I will definitely be returning. I have a few fishing yarns of my own.

I feel sorry for Kewaunee County residents and tourists, if this is their best option for breakfast.

Voted "Best Breakfast in Kewaunee County" in 2016 and 2017. I feel bad for Kewaunee County residents if this is as good as it gets for breakfast. I understand it's a dive and that's part of the uniqueness of the place, one of the reasons we actually went. Also, I love a good diner, I don't need anything fancy, just good food cooked on a searing griddle! Unfortunately for Dairy Deans, the food just wasn't very good. I ordered the daily special, Biscuit and Gravy Supreme, which was essentially a sausage and cheese biscuit sandwich covered in Gravy. Actually right up my alley, but it was barely warm. I feel like they combined a mix of ingredient and some of them were not hot or something. Maybe cold biscuit, hot egg, medium temp sausage, cold slice of cheese, covered in luke warm gravy. You get the idea. Taste was lacking and overall didn't get me excited at all. My better half ordered their "basic breakfast", which came with not so fluffy pancakes, undercooked bacon, and eggs. She's not overly picky, but only ate part of the pancake and barely any bacon. The eggs were edible. On a positive note, the waitress was working her butt off! If this truly is the best in Kewaunee County, I'm not sure what to tell you to do. But if it were me, I'd try another place in hopes of discovering the next best breakfast place for next year!

Alaskan waffle

Ate here for breakfast both days we stayed in town. Good service, good portions, good variety. The Alaskan Waffle has ice cream on top- can't pass up an opportunity to have ice cream for breakfast!

Family dining in Algoma, Wi.

A small somewhat cozy cafe on a corner with a lake view if you can get to a window table. First: The restrooms. This may be a former gas station as the restrooms are entered from outside the restaurant. So if it's Winter and windy and 10 degrees you'll have to leave the building, walk around and enter your gender specific room. The men's room was filthy. No paper towels and I used my hanky to open the door. The servings were plentiful. I had the Country Fried Steak which is hard to find these days. I told my friend any restaurant with that on the menu is tops. The steak was tender with little gristle and the plate loaded with hash browns and eggs peaking out from the bottom and two large slices of toast. Fresh coffee, not urban coffee bar but still fresh. Service was friendly and prompt. A good place to soak up local color if your looking for that with an old fashioned diner type meal in place filled with fishing mementos and locals. Enjoy a view of the lake and bring along hand sanitizer if you must use the facilities.

A nice clean diner and ice cream spot in the heart of Algoma. Always tasty, with a nice menu, breakfast all day and an overall good value.
