The whitefish is just......(chef's kiss). A bit of a drive, but worth it. Food, service, view......excellent

Walked into overpowering smell of disinfectant. No way we could eat lunch here. Not just from the restrooms but used on all the tables. Pinesol? read more

A few start up hiccups as with any business but it is vastly improved. The service and food has been excellent every time we have ordered. We order there often to go as we live close by. I enjoy going there as it is quaint with a friendly crowd. It's the kind of place you would want to hang around any time of the day or evening with friends or family. The owner is an extremely hands on hard working guy and is doing everything to make this a successful place that you keep coming back to. We do! read more

We always loved the Settlement and we were apprehensive with new owners how it would be. It is honestly better than before! It is clean and bright inside but the same towny cozy small town bar feel. The food was so good! We always loved the tartar sauce from the Settlement and it is still so good! The fish was fresh tasting, not too greasy and one of the better fish fries in Green Bay! Great job new owners! You nailed it. read more

Stopped for lunch and had a great meal. Not crowded at all. We had a philly steak sandwich and mushroom burger. Both very good and serves hot. Fries are goo and also came out hot. Nice friendly staff. read more

Is there a way to give it half a star or less? This place has gone downhill since it was the coveted fish place on Fridays. The breading isn't the same, nor the quality (or size) of the fish. Order a ruben sandwich & others will be shocked at how skinny it is now, probably half the size of previously. So basically there is no reason to go here for the food anymore. Overpriced + undermade, all the way around. The good time feeling from when Chuck owned it is completely gone. There's a couple ok bartenders, but the owner has chased off the good ones. Note: If the owner is behind the bar when you (mistakenly) stop in, order a beer or something he can't under-pour. And be ready for him to talk negatively about customers (most of who have no interest in returning), while placing flyers around - or posts on facebook - talking about all the AMAZING people who come there. Falsity at its finest. read more

Had a combo platter with baby reds. The potatoes were awful and so was the fish! The potatoes were very brown inside... not sure why. Think the shrimp was out of a frozen bag along w the fish.. read more

Very good place to eat. The fish fry is excellent (Haddock and Perch are my favorite). Fries are great, and you can tell they change their oil frequently. I highly recommend this bar/restaurant (12 tables), plus bar seating, especially for a fish fry on Fridays. read more

Outstanding customer service and they serve authentic Mexican food on Tuesdays & by far the best fish fry's on Fridays. Owner treats you like your family as does his entire staff. Very welcoming to say the least. If you're looking for a great atmosphere & excellent food, this is the place to go whenever in Green Bay, WI read more

my family and I have been going here for quite some time, the food was outstanding of course we all had the fish fry. The kiddos had the burgers. The wait staff was great however seems super busy and forgot a couple things here and there but was not a dealbreaker. again, delicious fish. read more

Another Wisconsin Fish Fry Winner! Quite frankly this place is not the most impressive from the outside, but you can tell by the way the people pile in on a Friday Night that they have good food! Drinks were tasty and there were some beer specials. I think the Old Fashions were $5.50. After you have a drink (or 2) a waitress come by to take your order and when it's ready they come and get you. The food will be on the table so you can sit right down and dig in. The potions are pretty large and the "cup" of soup is bigger than most bowls you would get at other restaurants. (We tried to order a bowl of soup and they talked us out of it... glad they did!). Prices of the food were on par or even on the lower side of most area fish fry's. Our waiter and waitress were a married couple and they worked their ass off because they took care of the whole dinning area. Even though they were very busy they both took time to make sure we had everything we need and were happy with the food. There were some drawbacks. The bartenders were not very friendly... I would say even crabby. Not a good first impression. The place is cash only and it is tropical hot in there when it's busy. If it's warm outside be prepared to lose some water weight in sweat while eating. Actually very uncomfortable. But let's be honest, it's Wisconsin.... how many warm Friday nights are there!! read more

The Settlement - a sign for a restaurant - Bars Near Me - Green Bay, Wisconsin

I mean this is a dive bar in the middle of no where that happens to serve a really out of this world delicious old fashion and fish fry. I ran into a co-worker who informed me to get the small because if I would have got the large haddock I would have had way too many leftovers. As it was I shared my fries with my husband who got the perch sandwich. The prices are typical for the area. I guess I should quickly mention this place is tiny and you will have to get a drink, put in your food order AND then you will be seated at your table when your food comes. Just a heads up so you know what to expect. The food itself was good. I liked the light breading on my fish and coleslaw was good in flavor. I would come back. I heard the burgers are yummy. PS: Service was great my husband was given too much change back he was honest about it and they gave him a free drink. read more

Very busy on Friday nights but food is good. The perch is excellent. Love the burgers.

The order was wrong on pickup. I gave it one last shot last week. Was very good. This week, they messed up my order again. I was overcharged from my original order. I will not spend a dime here again. read more

The Settlement is a townie dive bar just outside of Green Bay. When it comes to tasty, guilty pleasure, bar food it doesn't get any better than this. Speaking of guilty pleasures the Settlement burger is a hamburger with a brat patty added and a ridiculous amount of cheese for good measure. A "small" order of fries could be a meal for two. There very well known for having one of the best fish fries in the Green Bay area, so if it's a Friday you'd best get there early or prepare to wait a while. Add to that the cheap drink prices. Thirsty for a 32oz mug of beer, but only have a $5 bill? No problem, you'll even get change back! Equally inexpensive quality cocktails, too. You can't go wrong. The people there are the friendliest in the world. Both customers and employees will gladly welcome you into the conversation of the moment. If you're anywhere near Green Bay, make the extra jog north up Bay Settlement Rd to The Settlement! read more

It is not the same quality food since the reopening with new ownership! My fiancé had a burger and said she could tell it was frozen. she basically said McDonald's would have been better. I had my usual haddock That I always order there in past. Haddock use to be fat juicy chucks and are now small and flat more on the dryer side fillets. as I said sadly the new owners didn't carry on the same great food as was once served and known there for so long. They did fix the place up little but that is not why so many people had gone there for. read more

I first visited the Settlement 30 years ago, when a good friend and 'regular' there took me for the first time. I was blown away by the low prices and huge servings of french fries, and it quickly became a regular spot for me. And that's easily done here, because the atmosphere is friendly...you don't spend much time by yourself before someone strikes up a conversation. It's the real deal...not a "TV" bar, a place where people actually talk to each other and have fun. 30 years later and I'm still going to the Settlement at every opportunity. I live about 100 miles away now, but every time I get in the area, I find a way to visit. It's like an old friend, and it hasn't changed ONE BIT in all this time. There's something very comforting about that. Oh, the prices have crept up a little, but they're still outrageously cheap and you still get a mountain of french fries with your order. Unassuming, fun, great little townie dive bar...and with a great fish fry on Fridays! Get there while you can...when the owner retires, I'm sure it will disappear in favor of something trendy and new. Places like this are true treasures...enjoy them while you can! read more

Best bacon cheeseburgers around...period! Can't recommend enough! Really nice updates that they've made. The old place used to be really dark and kind of dingy...but now it's nice and bright! Plays great music. Quaint but we love it that way! read more

Walk in and feel like your walking into a party, one that welcomes you with a smile. Excellent straight cocktails, don't look for a cosmopolitan here but if you're thirsty you will be satisfied. Order quickly or relax with new friends, Friday fish is all I know about at The Settlements and that's enough. Double perch came with 11 double pieces, way to many fries and of course buttered rye bread. Star of the show is the halibut, double order had eight pieces!!! Reheat in a air fryer and it's golden. Two of us cocktails, dinner and leftovers for the weekend $40.00 before tip, leaves lots of room for a excellent tip! read more

Culver's has better burgers no taste would not recommend. There not charcoaled grilled no butter on bun dry just all around bad

Great basket of anything if you want a good ole fashioned burger on bed of family fries...and literally, you'll get that on a bed of family fries in your basket alone. The fish sandwich is huge and is about 4 times the size of the bun lol. If you like a strong drink, be ready. This is primarily a place for locals, but it's a great deal if you feel comfy with the local crowd. read more

Old fashioneds. Greasy burgers. Big baskets of fries. Must I go on?? Ok, I will. This is a little establishment on Bay Settlement Rd just outside Green Bay. Whenever I am craving a good greasy burger and a strong old fashioned this is my go to place. It is a bit tiny so on a busy night you may have trouble finding a seat, but just wait and I promise it's worth it. Reasonably priced, usually around $20 for drinks and food for two, and there's a special almost every day. If you're in need of a bite to eat, definitely check this place out! read more

The Settlement - The menu offerings - Bars Near Me - Green Bay, Wisconsin

I haven't been here for years but it's exactly what I like in a Wisconsin bar...what follows are the essentials. 1) Off the beaten path- This place was more off the grid years ago before urban sprawl but it's still far away from the city. It's in a part of Green Bay I would live in as it's closer to Sturgeon Bay etc 2) Fried everything--People come for the burgers and stay for the curds 3) Authentic hole in the wall- Some places try to mimic this experience. This place is just plain dumpy and I mean that in a you will sit on a torn pleather seat that matches a wobbly table kind of way. 4) Ask for a whiskey and coke and they will give you the bottle and can 5) The burger is great because it doesn't try to be some other places burger. It's like they lived in isolation from the rest of the world and don't give a shit. read more

BEST fish fry (& tartar sauce) on this side of the Mississippi. To the other guys comment, it does look like an abandoned house and the inside is that of a dive bar. But still the best fish fry in town! Get the haddock and an old fashioned. read more

Reuben Wednesday! Solid sandwich with pumpernickel bread.

Strong drinks, VERY reasonable, good perch, tons of fries, and off the beaten path. In from out if town and went here during a Packer weekend. It was great being with the locals and away from some of the garbage bars around Lambeau. When I ordered drinks I was taken back by the low price and asked the bartender if that was for everything...that's how reasonable this place is. I think the perch at Maricques is slightly better but my table was divided on this subject. I'll be back again. read more

Oh my gosh! The great reviews on this little place do NOT mislead! My husband and I recently moved to Green Bay and decided (based on reviews) to try this place. What a great experience! Within minutes I had met Carol, one of the bartenders and despite how busy she was, she introduced herself and made us feel like family! In fact, it's such an amazingly friendly atmosphere, that we met two other couples during the time we sat at the bar waiting for our table. And the food....DELICIOUS! We had the Friday nite fish fry specials and were not disappointed! My small haddock plate could have feed both of us! We also noticed that they have daily specials and heard they are equally amazing. We are lucky enough to live in the neighborhood so I have no doubt we will be regulars at The Settlement!! read more

First off this place looks like an abandoned house on the of the road. Upon entering the door doesn't close and flew open and slammed against the wall just from a push. When we walked in the entire bar and restaurant started staring at us and the 3 people who owned the place joined in and didn't tell us to find a seat which we had to do all by ourselves after standing in-front of 20 eyes for a while. The service was awful as the guy who was "serving " us walked up and didn't say a thing for a whole 30 seconds. The food is shit and the owner after 40 min of us sitting and waiting for our check, she dropped in on the table and left. Fuck this shit stain of a shed. read more

Fish is spectacular. We've been here twice and will be back. If you want a fancy place this isn't it, which makes it all the better. I'm not a big perch fan but this was great. Prices are out of this world meaning extremely reasonable. The first time I had a burger and shared fries with my friend. Burger was great, fries were great. And then they brought out fish for the people next to us and I actually said what the hell is that because it was huge. I've never seen that much food. Our friend had the combo fish plate which included frog legs. Not my cup of tea but she said they were very good. Old fashions were yummy and strong. Like I said we will be back. read more

The BEST fish fry in Green Bay. Hands down. Everyone claims this, but The Settlement IS IT! Fantastic drinks too.

Don't ask for a White Russian, because apparently the woman with glasses and short hair will only make those at night. And very rudely tell you so. But, I don't think this is the case because the other bartender very gladly learned how to make one for us. We had a large group, had just came from a funeral, were the only people in here other than 6 others who she gladly had time to chat with, but couldn't make a 3 ingredient drink. You know the same amount as an old fashioned, which at least 4 others were served. We could have gone without her demeanor. read more

Horrible experience. Arrived at 8:00 on a Friday. They were out of perch and frog legs. We had haddock plate and chicken breast sandwich. The haddock was the worst fish plate ever. The chicken breast was a chicken patty. Similar to a $1.00 chicken sandwich at McDonald's. Instead it cost $6.75 with no side. Will not be back EVER. read more
