A few start up hiccups as with any business but it is vastly improved. The service and food has been excellent every time we have ordered. We order there often to go as we live close by. Is there a way to give it half a star or less? This place has gone downhill since it was the coveted fish place on Fridays. The breading isn't the same, nor the quality (or size) of the fish. Order a ruben sandwich & others will be shocked at how skinny it is now, probably half the size of previously. So basically there is no reason to go here for the food anymore. Overpriced + undermade, all the way around. The good time feeling from when Chuck owned it is completely gone. There's a couple ok bartenders, but the owner has chased off the good ones. Note: If the owner is behind the bar when you (mistakenly) stop in, order a beer or something he can't under-pour. And be ready for him to talk negatively about customers (most of who have no interest in returning), while placing flyers around - or posts on facebook - talking about all the AMAZING people who come there. Another Wisconsin Fish Fry Winner! Quite frankly this place is not the most impressive from the outside, but you can tell by the way the people pile in on a Friday Night that they have good food! Drinks were tasty and there were some beer specials. I think the Old Fashions were $5.50. After you have a drink (or 2) a waitress come by to take your order and when it's ready they come and get you. The food will be on the table so you can sit right down and dig in. The potions are pretty large and the "cup" of soup is bigger than most bowls you would get at other restaurants. (We tried to order a bowl of soup and they talked us out of it... glad they did!). Prices of the food were on par or even on the lower side of most area fish fry's. Our waiter and waitress were a married couple and they worked their ass off because they took care of the whole dinning area. Even though they were very busy they both took time to make sure we had everything we need and were happy with the food. There were some drawbacks. The bartenders were not very friendly... I would say even crabby. Not a good first impression. The place is cash only and it is tropical hot in there when it's busy. If it's warm outside be prepared to lose some water weight in sweat while eating. Actually very uncomfortable. I mean this is a dive bar in the middle of no where that happens to serve a really out of this world delicious old fashion and fish fry. I ran into a co-worker who informed me to get the small because if I would have got the large haddock I would have had way too many leftovers. As it was I shared my fries with my husband who got the perch sandwich. The prices are typical for the area. I guess I should quickly mention this place is tiny and you will have to get a drink, put in your food order AND then you will be seated at your table when your food comes. Just a heads up so you know what to expect. The food itself was good. I liked the light breading on my fish and coleslaw was good in flavor. I would come back. I heard the burgers are yummy. It is not the same quality food since the reopening with new ownership! My fiancé had a burger and said she could tell it was frozen. she basically said McDonald's would have been better. I had my usual haddock That I always order there in past. Haddock use to be fat juicy chucks and are now small and flat more on the dryer side fillets. as I said sadly the new owners didn't carry on the same great food as was once served and known there for so long. I first visited the Settlement 30 years ago, when a good friend and 'regular' there took me for the first time. I was blown away by the low prices and huge servings of french fries, and it quickly became a regular spot for me. And that's easily done here, because the atmosphere is friendly...you don't spend much time by yourself before someone strikes up a conversation. It's the real deal...not a "TV" bar, a place where people actually talk to each other and have fun. 30 years later and I'm still going to the Settlement at every opportunity. I live about 100 miles away now, but every time I get in the area, I find a way to visit. It's like an old friend, and it hasn't changed ONE BIT in all this time. There's something very comforting about that. Oh, the prices have crept up a little, but they're still outrageously cheap and you still get a mountain of french fries with your order. Unassuming, fun, great little townie dive bar...and with a great fish fry on Fridays! It's in a part of Green Bay I would live in as it's closer to Sturgeon Bay etc 2) Fried everything--People come for the burgers and stay for the curds 3) Authentic hole in the wall- Some places try to mimic this experience. This place is just plain dumpy and I mean that in a you will sit on a torn pleather seat that matches a wobbly table kind of way. 4) Ask for a whiskey and coke and they will give you the bottle and can 5) The burger is great because it doesn't try to be some other places burger. Oh my gosh! The great reviews on this little place do NOT mislead! My husband and I recently moved to Green Bay and decided (based on reviews) to try this place. What a great experience! Within minutes I had met Carol, one of the bartenders and despite how busy she was, she introduced herself and made us feel like family! In fact, it's such an amazingly friendly atmosphere, that we met two other couples during the time we sat at the bar waiting for our table. And the food....DELICIOUS! We had the Friday nite fish fry specials and were not disappointed! My small haddock plate could have feed both of us! We also noticed that they have daily specials and heard they are equally amazing. We are lucky enough to live in the neighborhood so I have no doubt we will be regulars at The Settlement!! read more

It was great being with the locals and away from some of the garbage bars around Lambeau. When I ordered drinks I was taken back by the low price and asked the bartender if that was for everything...that's how reasonable this place is. First off this place looks like an abandoned house on the of the road. Upon entering the door doesn't close and flew open and slammed against the wall just from a push. When we walked in the entire bar and restaurant started staring at us and the 3 people who owned the place joined in and didn't tell us to find a seat which we had to do all by ourselves after standing in-front of 20 eyes for a while. The service was awful as the guy who was "serving " us walked up and didn't say a thing for a whole 30 seconds. Fish is spectacular. We've been here twice and will be back. If you want a fancy place this isn't it, which makes it all the better. I'm not a big perch fan but this was great.
