Saturday the 22nd of August I enjoyed a great breakfst at the 3rd Avenue Cafe IN Sturgeon Bay. The staff were upbeat and very welcoming, the dinning area was filling up fast after we were seated. We put our order in for breakfast and it came out very fast very hot and full filling. When I looked around I felt that the majority of the crowd were locals which confirmed my choice. I know it is coming to the end of the season, but if you are in the Sturgeon Bay area I would highly recommend the 3rd Ave Cafe for Breakfast. The next time I am in the area I will make it a point to head there for lunch. read more

I just love the old town diners that have been established for a long time. The staff was fun and friendly. The food is old school, home-cooked meals. read more

3rd Avenue Cafe - Salad - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin

This is the BEST BREAKFAST PLACE IN STURGEON BAY! It was so incredible. It was so cute and quaint. The service was top notch and the entire family was so kind. We came from out of town and they were so welcoming and David's mom was so wonderful! Would definitely recommend read more

This place could have potential - ample space and sizable kitchen. We stopped in for lunch and it was just ok for the price. Bowl of soup was fine for the other member of the party. I had the Reuben, which was nothing special: store bought rye bread, deli corned beef in small proportion, loads of sauerkraut and bottled Thousand Island with Swiss cheese. Came with fries, not hand cut but standard frozen and fried. I can make that home and not pay $13. Service was spotty - no check-in or tea refill until the dishes were clean. read more

Chicken dumpling soup was amazing. Homemade cinnamon rolls were the best we ever had. Services were great too!

Great little cafe located right amongst the shops on the corner of 3rd Avenue. Awesome breakfast menu at very reasonable prices. Ordered the DC Hash breakfast. Yummy! Plenty of street parking. Inside seating , and they only accept cash! read more

We drove by here the other day and we chose to try it today. I am so happy that we did! We walked in and it was very spacious. There were 6 seats at the counter area. We opted for a little 2 seater as it was just my husband and myself. Our waitress was very attentive. She came over took our drink order and asked if we needed time to look at the menu. My husband chose to have coffee, an omelette and a side of corned beef hash. I had 2 eggs, potatoes and toast. For everything it was under $25 and that includes our tip! I enjoyed watching "grandma" in the kitchen. She was so fun to watch. She was fast, would yell out instructions, and watching her crack and whisk eggs. It was good food, good service, and a great place. read more

French Toast was excellent and dining area is wheelchair accessible which is nice! Be aware that they are cash only and a bank is across the corner. Nice simple diner for good simple food! read more

Hit the spot. Took a walk down the main retail area and walked into this delightful little restaurant. My wife loved her hamburger ("it was delicious "), I had French Toast with blueberries and perfectly done crispy bacon. Waitress was wonderful and kind, owner came out to help. Would go again anytime. read more

The sandwich was good and the biscuit and gravy delicious. I like the fact that you can get a good sized meal as well as a smaller portion for smaller appetites. Also, very reasonably priced. read more

The soup was good but the help can't be bothered. The ice tea was terrible. Burger was ok but fries are not gluten free.

This restaurant is very nice, on 3rd Avenue. Each visit we have had in Sturgeon Bay always starts here for breakfast. Every meal we've had here has been spot on. They're omelets and hash browns are plenteous! I wish you much success And a Happy New Year read more

We had a great breakfast here. Our group all ordered different items and everyone was pleased. We will return for sure.

Tasteless food, soggy toast. You know why? Because they use margarine and no butter at all anywhere in this place. Not even an option. This is a dairy state for cripes sake! Two stars for great location. read more

The staff there were very disrespectful and told us they were going to have to charge us for bringing in outside drinks as a group of six as if we were not going to pay for any meals. read more

The food is great. Their hamburgers are great and full of flavor. Also, the soups are excellent. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend.

This place was a disappointment. Was really looking forward to going to a diner for breakfast and this place let me down. The server was unfriendly and the food was terrible. I ordered the dc hash and it was so cold I couldn't eat it. Oh and be sure to have cash on you as they don't accept debit/credit. read more

Nice spot for breakfast. Service was good and the coffee was outstanding. It was a nice way to start our day.

We were here on vacation from MO and looking for a nice brunch. Decided to stop in. Upon entering we asked for a high chair and we were told, "they are over there". Ok, we can get our own. Our 2 year old was entertaining himself by counting the jelly packets and the same server can over and said, "please don't let him play with those because everyone touches them". The portions were skimpy, service snippy and the floor stained. Just keep walking to one of the other choices down the street. I think it is the local hang out and they just put up with it. read more

Extremely rude remark from the get go. Walked in for lunch - the six of us. Didn't even get a chance to order before the rudeness began. Had coffee from down the street, and were told we would have to pay for WATER since we "brought our own drinks". Left immediately. Not because we had to follow whatever stupid policy is in place, but because she said it like we were idiots for not knowing. Never been to a restaurant and been charged for water. Lost out on 6 hungry customers. Go to Firehouse down the street. read more

Dirty from the get-go. Tables still had food from previous diners even though only one table was occupied. Menu was similar to a truck stop. Carpeted floor had what appeared to be large black grease stains that looked like someone repairs car engines. Server was uninterested, detached, unhelpful and snippy. Salad had a tomato 'slice' that had the stem cut out and was paper thin on top of bagged chopped lettuce. Soup was out of a can, tasteless and bland. Sandwich had old bread and was unremarkable. The view of the kitchen from the bathroom was gross and contributed mightily to a feeling of sick. The topper was they don't accept credit cards. The server sarcastically told us there was a sign at the door and on the menu. The sign at the door is opposite from the handle and is easy to miss. Who looks how to pay on a menu? Who doesn't take credit cards? This place is at an ideal location and it's a shame that the owner doesn't know how to have a good menu and hire an excellent crew. If the person reading this review wants a decent place to eat choose anywhere but here. Lots of restaurants on 3rd avenue. An excellent example of how a cafe should be run is the Blue Front Cafe. Go there and have a 5 star experience. One last thing, the person that joined me for lunch said this was an awful place years ago. We both had hopes it had changed. No so. read more

cute little mom and pop place! amazing food. got the denver omelette which was yummy along with toast and has browns. definitely recommend and will come back! our server was also good! read more

My friend and I stopped in to give 3rd Avenue Cafe a try; I had not been there since the restaurant changed hands and I always liked the food from the prior owners. We were told to pick a table, which we did. We waited a bit to put in our order but not extraordinarily long. As we waited for our food, we watched tables around us change over and new patrons take their seats. One table in particular, came in after we ordered, got their food, and finished eating their food before we got our breakfasts. I asked the waitress, what was taking so long, motioning to the table next to ours that was getting ready to leave. The waitress said, "I'll go see." A minute later, a different person, perhaps the owner, or the cook, came out, and dropped our plates on the table from a height of 6 or so inches, which resulted in a loud clattering noise and snidely said, "This isn't MacDonalds!" after which, she whirled around and left. The food was mediocre (at best), we only ate it because at that point, we were ravenous. I won't be going back, nor will I recommend. Oh, and since then, I've spoken to some locals about my experience and they say that they refuse to go in there since the new owners took over. read more
