Picked up a chocolate croissant and an almond croissant from Voyageurs at the farmers' market by St. Brendan's Inn, where I am staying. Both were delicious, and the almond croissant was huge! I've been snacking on that throughout the day. I mentioned to them that Yelp has them listed as being open until 2 AM on Friday night. They clarified that they close at 2 PM on Friday's, like the rest of the week. Nice folks, very kind and helpful. Their breads looked delectable as well.

I ordered toast, crispy potatoes, a side of bacon. My daughter ordered eggs Benedict . My order came and the waitress had forgot to put in the potatoes . This was after confirming the order twice. When the potatoes came it was a small portion swimming in some kind of spicy seasoned oil. For $8 I would have expected a bit more portion wise. The bacon was fine. Nothing remarkable, and $4 for two slices. The toast and jam was ok. The toast bordered on burnt and was served without butter. The jam was more like a strained strawberry puree. The toast was tasty, except for the slightly burnt top. The eggs Benedict was $22. For that price they should be stellar! The English muffin had burnt bits, the hollandaise was ok, nothing special , the ham was tasty , but the egg was poached way past the point you would want or expect with eggs Benedict . There was a side of thinly sliced zucchini and squash that was quite tasty . Again, terrific bread- but we will skip the dine in options.

The staff at the store is very friendly and I even met the chef once. the store staff offers great customer service and follow through. My review is not regarding their delicious cakes and bakery. This review is regarding the person who ran their booth at art fest in Green Bay this past weekend. The woman they left in charge was completely unfriendly, never smiled, never said hello, no positive vibes or any heartfelt courtesies. We stopped by on both days to get cupcakes. She was rather crude and unfriendly. My question to the owner is, why would you put someone like this in charge of representing your sensational bakery? As mentioned, we stopped back twice on both days for goodies because we love the products not because this person offered any type of customer service. Sorry I did not catch her name and she did not have a name tag on. She was in her late 50s or early 60s, blondish / strawberry blonde hair. this person does not belong at the front lines. She would've been better served working in a back room prepping food away from the public. just saying. ‍namaste

Look for their fare at the increasingly popular Pawffee Shop in Appleton. As for the bakery in Green Bay, I think I've just had their delicious birthday macaroons and shared one of their amazing cakes. Hanging around Monzu is bad for your waistline, but fantastic for your taste buds.

We've found ourselves in this particular moment, him 5 years sober, me 26 and often confusing experiences of pain and pleasures on the thin ice of addiction. Today we are in wisconsin, visiting family, having coffee to stay at a cafe my grandma recommended we go to. She has my tiny brother, so it's just my dad and I, how things were for 16 years. We work as a team to find free parking. We love doing team things to save a dollar, a minute, or find a loophole. We decide on our coffees, and when the barista asks if we'll have them to stay my dad says yes, which brings a smile to my mind. He suggests we share this berry oat bar thing. One thing I find so charming about his sobriety is his need for sweets. It's somewhere in trainspotting 2 that mark tells spud "you'll always be an addict. You just have to find something else to get addicted to." I think of this when i see him with a big fat bowl of ice cream after dinner and a new exciting hobby every other month. I think of this when I consider what my life might be like if I decide to admit some things to myself sooner than later. But right now it's me and my father, having coffee to stay in cute mugs, no rushing, no changing things, just farting around in a midwest summer.

How have I not heard of these kind of kringles before?! I have never really been a fan of kringles,…read moreit's just not my kind of pastry. But this Frankenstein version that Mike's offers that is seemingly a blend of both a kringle and a king cake (the real New Orleans kind)? Heck ya. I will gladly devour this and will be back as often as my travels allow. I was passing through town and stopped in around noon on a Saturday and was thankful to see they had not yet sold out of Kringles for the day. Almond was the only choice left, so I went for it ($22.95)! Plus, a fudgy brownie because why not? Customer service was very friendly and helpful. After checking out I placed the massive kringle and brownie in the trunk so I could get it home to my family without me nibbling on it the entire 2-hour drive home. Once home, I have never seen my family devour a kringle so fast. From the grandparents to the little kiddos, everyone enjoyed Mike's take on a kringle. This should be the default version of a kringle! Oh, and that fudgy brownie? The best I have ever had. All the kudos, stars and compliments I can provide. How has this been kept secret from me for so long?!

We were fortunate enough to visit one of the more popular locations in Uncle Mike's Bake Shoppe. They were pretty busy when we arrived. Looking inside there is a refrigerated section with some homemade goods, some doughnuts and fresh baked bread, and the piece de resistance, the kringle. They had several flavors including blueberry and caramel apple which they were unfortunately out of. We ended up selecting two halves since we couldn't make our mind and you only live once. We went with the Door County Cherry and Strawberry Cream Cheese. They also had some very generous samples available. First of all, the "half" kringle is huge. Looks more like a whole kringle. We really enjoyed each of them. Both flaky, buttery and tender. Loved the Door County Cherry but we might give the edge to the Strawberry Cream Cheese. That is a really tasty and indulgent combination. They do ship their kringles however getting a fresh one is a special treat. Some of the best kringles that we have ever had!

Entering this place made me feel like a kid in a candy store. After looking at every single delicious morsel in store, I finally settled on a few items: Pumpkin bread with maple pecan. This bread was like candy in my mouth. Soft, sweet, and perfect in every way. My favorite pumpkin bread to date. Apple Cake w/brown sugar frosting was good but would've been amazing with a caramel frosting instead. The apples inside the cake were so fresh, it smelled like an apple orchard when I opened the container. The brown sugar frosting gave me pop tarts throwbacks. Not bad, just basic and made me crave caramel instead. Pumpkin donuts (meh); I wasn't impressed and I wouldn't order these again, Double chocolate cookie with caramel filling inside. OMG I just took a tiny bite and wow! So rich, so soft & chewy. And the caramel is so good! A week later and I'm still eating off this massive cookie. (It's being kept refrigerated) 100% vegan and gluten-free?! They are definitely killing the game.
