Their coffee and scones are divine. The interior is really cute and cozy, and there are some nice seating options outside as well. People are able to bring their dogs outside in the seating area, which is a nice bonus. Line gets long over the weekends, and it's well worth the wait. Recommend getting their early. read more

The turkey and Brie sandwich was delicious. There was a great deal of flavor. If your looking for something different but tasty this is a great choice. This isn't going to be your average boring turkey sandwich. I didn't get the meatloaf because I didn't want something too heavy. My wife got it though and I got to sample hers. It wasn't heavy at all. If you like your meatloaf all meat this isn't your normal. This one has carrots, jalapeños, and other stuff to make it a little lighter. I'd say it's worth getting but know your not getting a meatloaf like you're at home. They pack flavor in, not just meat. read more

Such a nice place. Never been before, recommended by a friend. Bahn mi sammich with a cup of chicken tikka masala soup (their soup of the day)--wow. Every bite was perfect. Side of fresh fruit--perfectly ripe. And their coffee cake of the day, cherry rhubarb almond was delicious. Even their two different ice teas were yummy. Really friendly staff. Phenomenal! From the greeting til the farewell, I really enjoyed this place. They have some local art on the walls, really easy going music, and friendly staff that make the place feel relaxing. I ordered the Bluefront Burger. It's a grass fed beef patty, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and pickles. Came with a choice of side, I ordered the fruit bowl, which was a large variety, oranges, clementines, blueberries, apples, pineapple, grapes, raspberries, and cantaloupe. The food was out in a timely manner. My drink, a Stillmank Porter, was out quick. They have a large selection of wines for such a small place. Seems everything on the menu is fresh. They have a selection of baked goods that looked excellent and I had seen some other desserts come out that looked scrumptious as well. I will be back on my way through. Hubby and I drove up to Sturgeon Bay to try and shake off some cabin fever. We decided on lunch take out from Bluefront. We ordered online, which worked very well. The website was easy to use and they even texted me back that the order had been received. We were able to order for a specific time so we could time it nicely with our Google maps directions. We both ordered the fish tacos. They were delicious! I loved the chipotle slaw, though I thought the cheese on fish tacos kind of strange. Midweek lunch, good thing I arrived at noon. Another 30 minutes and there was a wait. Service was efficient and pleasant. Even though they were busy my water glass was kept full. Came for one more lunch on Saturday before heading home. Arrived at 1:30 and sat right down. Ordered the egg, BLT special and instead of kettle chips I got the pasta. I can understand why Bluefront Cafe is such a Door County staple, but after an okay meatloaf sandwich and mediocre fries, it was far from my favorite culinary experience in Door County over the course of a weekend. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? As others have stated, Bluefront Cafe is quintessentially local and I love that. The service is fast and friendly, and while it can get exceptionally loud if you're seated indoors, it's because everyone is excited about the company and food, and you can't fault them for that. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? For under $10.00 I got a good sized meatloaf sandwich and a large portion of fries. That's good value. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? My mom, who was present with me for my lunch at Bluefront Cafe, makes exceptionally meatloaf. I love it, and maybe that's what set my bar too high for my meatloaf sandwich at Bluefront Cafe. My sandwich was okay, but the patty itself was light to the point of making me thinking it was pretty full with filler. The flavor implied that as well, and while it was pretty good meatloaf, it didn't come close to what mama can make. I had hoped that the local fries might be something unique, but they ended up being a little weird and soft for my tastes. Single Star. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? The food is really good. I wanted to hate this place since they charge extra for take out, but you can only do take out in the time of Covid. Shit like that irritates me (just raise prices, or eat the cost when there's no options). The food is really excellent and well balanced, so I have given in and accepted the annoying idiosyncrasies of this place. Come, pay a pointless unavoidable fee and eat some really good food. Some restaurants "get it" and you can tell in their atmosphere, food presentation and flavors. Whoever the owner here is definitely gets it. This is such a wonderful place for lunch on the South end of the Door County area. We came in right at opening (11 am) on a Tuesday. Got seated in a mostly empty, very bright and clean space that quickly started to get busier. They have excellent local beer and wine, iced tea, sodas, kombucha and other drinks. Entrees include hot and cold sandwiches, salads and others. Sides are chips, a side of the day (Cole slaw) , fries or side salad. Their side salad is easily one of the best I've had! Colorful, crunchy and with a huge variety of veggies and greens. They have a house vinaigrette that was a wonderful compliment. I highly recommend the hot turkey and brie sandwich with cherry jam on sourdough. Melty, creamy cheese with thinly sliced turkey and tart, sweet cherry jam. My wife loved her burger. Hand pattied 1/2 lb beef with sauteed onions, cheese, lettuce and tomato on a toasted brioche bun. It was juicy and beefy. It tasted as good as it looked! read more

This was my first visit and was recommended to me. Delicious, healthy food and a pleasant atmosphere. I had a quinoa salad with fresh vegetables and added marinate tofu. Bluefront is spot on every time we visit. Everyone always is satisfied after we have lunch here. The fish tacos (come gluten free naturally) are my absolute favorite. I usually get their soup of the day as a side, which is always great. This trip they had chicken enchilada, delicious. The banh mi, the meatloaf sandwich, the turkey and brie, and the grilled cheese stand out as rotating favorites in our family. the munchie plate is a great, healthy option on the kids menu. We stopped here for lunch on our way to Door County. It's a good place to stop by for lunch if you are staying in Sturgeon Bay or on your way to other cities in Door County. We started with their Crunchy Taco Salad which came with kale, mixed greens, tomato, avocado, 2-year cheddar, cilantro, scallion, black beans, pumpkin seeds, black olives, roasted corn, tortilla strips, chipotle-lime dressing. It was super fresh and delicious. We also got the Bluefront Burger, Maple Street Grilled Cheese with their hour fries. The sandwiches were really tasty and highly recommended. This is an upscale café with a European ambiance, nicely decorated with mosaic tile floors. My wife and I came here for lunch on a Saturday. It was not busy, in fact there was one other couple dining when we were seated. By the time we left, there was a wait. I had difficulty deciding what I wanted so the waitress gave us a "few minutes". It was at least 10 minutes before she returned. I ordered the Grilled Cheese sandwich, my wife ordered an Asian chicken wrap. The grilled cheese was the best one I've had anywhere. It was aged cheddar and baby Swiss toasted between 2 pieces of sourdough bread with tomatoes and Dijon mustard. My wife really liked her wrap. For the side we were offered a choice of homemade kettle chips or dill slaw, and for a dollar extra we could get French fries. This is why only 3 stars. I didn't need more than a few minutes to decide what I wanted. The waitress should have noticed the menus folded up sitting on the corner of the table sooner than she did. You shouldn't have to pay extra for French fries when chips are included with the meal. I also thought the place was a little pricy. 2 sandwiches and 2 sodas came to almost 24 bucks. The food is great, but I would rather go somewhere less expensive for lunch. read more

Not easy to find a healthy and delicious restaurant with options to satisfy us all, but Blue Front sure did!! Dad loved his sweet and sour soup and pretzel sandwich. Based on reviews, this seemed like one of the few places in town to get a decent meal not comprised of fast food, fried food, or bar food (a small-town Venn diagram with discouragingly significant overlap). Whether that's true or not in the case of Sturgeon Bay, I can definitely say that we enjoyed a great Saturday night dinner at Bluefront. Reservations are advised, but I did not call in time to secure one, so we tried our luck as walk-ins. The young man on the phone recommended 8pm as our best bet for the shortest possible wait. However, we were seated around 6:50 after only a ten-minute wait. So much for the crowds! In fact, even though they had cut off reservations for the evening, I never saw every single table full up to the time that we left. So don't be afraid to stop in anytime. Our waitress was great. I ordered a Spotted Cow which apparently cashed their keg. She brought me the three-quarters-full glass on the house and recommended a bottled beer on special for only three dollars. I ended up ordering it (Longboard Island Lager from Kona Brewing Company in Hawaii) and loved it. All of the food was really good too. My wife and I shared the house-made chips and salsa, which was the perfect portion for two. Our entrees were the fish tacos and the thai quinoa salad, both tasty and satisfying. I was really pleased with the salad because, after only a day of the vacation diet, I needed something clean and light to eat. It was basically a pile of spinach and vegetables with cashews, quinoa, and cilantro on top. Perfect! The ginger-peanut dressing was so tasty that I later dipped my bread in it. I dont know what they put in the fish tacos at Bluefront Cafe, but it is so delicious I had them two nights in a row! The piece of fish in these tacos was BIG. It was also flaky and moist which is what I dont find in most fish tacos I've tried (outside of the Bay Area in CA). They wrap these babies in a corn tortilla topped with a great tasting cole slaw, cheddar cheese, and a chipotle sauce. Super delicious. The first time I came they were SUPER busy. Despite the craziness, they were able to have my food ready within 15 minutes. The second time I came, I had my food in 10 minutes. Super fast!!!! Oh, by the way, I was able to get fries with my fish tacos which were amazing. They dip the fries in batter first and then fry them. Soooooo good. Service was friendly and parking was easy. Walking in this place has a great atmosphere. Small homey vibe. I ordered the ranchero burrito which comes loaded with just about everything you could want in and on a burrito. The burrito was huge in appearance and taste. My only little complaint is that it was loaded more with beans than meat but all in all the burrito was still delicious. After that battle in which I conquered the entire burrito, I decided to also splurge and get some dessert. I decided on the vanilla bean creme brule with fresh berries on top. The dessert was also very good with the creme and the fresh berries mixing together very well.
