Was looking for a cheap place to eat breakfast, and this fit the bill. The staff was friendly, food was good, portions were decent. Loved the small town diner feel, because that's what it is. Amazing selection of baked goods. Will definitely go back!

Today's special Ham(or bacon) hash browns, eggs, and beautiful muffin. 9 bucks. I'm full!! - A breakfast meal on a white plate includes two fried eggs with slightly runny yolks, slices of ham, and a serving of hash browns. The table has condiments such as hot sauce and ketchup, along with a muffin on a small plate, and glasses of water and iced drinks in the background. The setting appears to be a casual dining restaurant.

This is the place you're looking for. Everyone wants the quintessential small town diner with home cookin. Well, this is it. Standard breakfast fare, prepared well, and priced about as low as these days can go and still let Barb make a few dollars. Friendly people, nice staff, good cooks. And for internet junkies, free wifi. This is America in this joint. Whenever we don't feel like cooking, we go to Barb's. They have lunch/dinner food too! Our favorite is breakfast though. Try the cinnamon roll!! And my favorite country fried steak, or the country omelette. Delish. In Iron Mountain? Make the trip to Florence, you will be glad you did. Nothing good in Iron Mountain, trust me. See you there.

Best service we had at any restaurant in the UP or northern WI. Located along the main strip of shops on US2-141 in downtown Florence, this diner has a timeless feel to it. Very popular and crowded at breakfast, we decided to come here for a late lunch on two separate trips coming up north. When we came for lunch, it wasn't as packed, with only a large group of motorcycle riders who came for lunch too. However, it does not embody the "biker establishment" stereotype. It's a bright place with friendly people. A high school-aged girl served our table and she was polite and friendly to us. Barb's Cafe has a long counter with stools and separate booths in the restaurant. I tried one of their burger and it was excellent and nicely topped, nothing wimpy about it. My wife picked Swedish chocolate chip pancakes with powdered sugar on top. Excellent too. There was so much that we had leftovers for the next day's breakfast. My kids chose not to be adventurous and went for the safe choice of mac and cheese, which is the usual Kraft variety from the look of it. They weren't disappointed either. Prices are very reasonable. I also got a jug of maple syrup they sell at the counter. For the price, you'd pay about double that for the same syrup in Chicago. They also sell eggs from local farms at the counter too. It's become our spot for lunch in Florence for future runs up north when going on vacation.

They were sold out of most pies by 2:30 but still had some chocolate mint cream left which was delicious.

Eaten at Barb's many times. Always great food and fun servers. Like eating in Mom's kitchen.

The best blueberry pancakes around. Service is always great even when they are busy. Great place for Sunday morning breakfast.

Well, we felt over-caffeinated and hungry so plans cha fed and we decided to order lunch instead. After finishing our delicious meal, we ordered dinner to carry out. This cafe is a local gem. Totally different vibe than Contrast Coffee's which was modern, sleek and seemed to attract lots of younger folks. Contrast seemed more to be the place one might choose with just coffee. A sweet treat or something light with coffee. MJC has a very up-north, laid back, comfy feel. It beckons you to grab a table or comfy chair and stay a while. Its vibe might resonate with families, friend groups, seniors, artists and health conscious foodies. The menu offered so many choices: soup, salad, wraps, paninis and pizzas. Many choices in each category, all with the freshest of ingredients, combined creatively, focused on flavor and presented really well for such a casual place. It had a farm-to-table feel. Confident the sauces and dressings were made from scratch. We ordered two wraps and a salad to share and were warned that it might be too much food for two. It definitely would have been. Thankful for this tip. We shared a summer special Mad Hatter panini with chicken, mushrooms and provolone. It was amazing. The mushrooms were perfection. We also shared a Central salad which was so full of delightful add-in like cranberries and cashews. The salad dressing was wonderful. As an after thought, we decided to share a bowl of the soup of the day: chicken and dumplings. So full of chicken, veggies and small dumplings. Delish. We took home a cold club wrap for dinner and the Lynne Lu salad. The dishes were wrapped with such care. We really appreciated the friendly and knowledgeable staff. If we lived here, MJC would be a go-to spot for breakfast and brunch. The homemade desserts looked fabulous. Will need to return on another trip to this area to try them with a mocha which brought us to MJC's
