Thursday, Sep 9, 2021. Been a while since eating here. I always see the parking lot full, so I know they are doing good. I go find other places to help out. So, suddenly a Greek Salad sounded good, I said Dalrock Diner! Really? Yes, Really, owned by a Greek family. We got over there quickly, and it was 50% full at 3:30 PM. Staff had been eating their meal, but cleared a table we wanted. I spotted the Thursday Special $10.99 Half a Greek Chicken + Greek Salad, why not? My partner in crime went Greek Salad + grilled shrimp a la carte. Wow, 50's be-bop songs I had not heard in a while. The retro decor, with some Southern home touches sets the mood. The baked Greek chicken was lemon & herb rubbed, oven-roasted golden. It came with roasted herbed thick-sliced potatoes. I jumped on it like a termite on a wooden porch! Juice was dripping on each bite. That Greek Salad was staring at me, getting jealous. You're next, I said. I got a refill on my iced tea. This was a generous serving, I was getting full, but could not stop. And this is why the parking lot around Dalrock Diner is always full. Because you get full of good food here! The desserts display was looking at me now. A giant carrot cake was in there, promising me a good time. Next time, you are mine! Next Thursday? 3:30 PM when there's an open parking space. What an outstanding hole in the wall and old fashion diner! A good friend recommended this place and since we were in the neighborhood we decided to give it a try. We arrived just after 11 am and were immediately seated at the last available table. Our server, Ricardo, immediately asked us what we'd like to drink, and upon learning that it was our first occasion at the restaurant, gave us a quick run down of the menu. Boy, there is a lot to choose from! Breakfast is served all day, and have the obligatory soup of the day. We finally settled on trying two of their entrees. First, the Meatloaf Stack, which is a generous slice of homemade meatloaf grilled and topped with mashed potatoes, brown gravy and onion rings. Our second entree choice was the Honey Dijon Chicken, a boneless chicken breast grilled and topped with tender sauternes mushrooms and their homemade Honey Dijon sauce, served with your choice of two vegetables. We opted for the green beans and fried corn on the cob. Each entree came with two rolls, you can choose between either the dinner roll or the cornbread muffin, so we got one of each with both of our entrees. Within minutes, our entrees were brought to our table. Both tasted outstanding! The meatloaf was moist and flavorful, the potatoes and brown gravy both tasted freshly made and homemade! And the onion ring garnish was cooked just right, the onion stayed inside the ring when you bit into it! The grilled chicken breast was also very moist, and that Honey Dijon sauce with the mushrooms was absolutely heavenly! The green beans were really good, and the fried corn on the cob was out of this world! The rolls, oh my gosh! The dinner roll was soft, moist and delicious, even when it got cold! And the cornbread muffin, WOW! So unassuming looking, but like the dinner roll, soft, moist flavorful and oh soooo good! Ricardo made sure to stop by several times to ask if there was anything else that we needed and offered to refill our drinks. We finished our meal off with a slice of chocolate cream pie and it too was very, very good. We will defiantly be back to try out the rest of their menu! read more

I love, love, love the folks here. I really do. My parents had been going there for years, almost every day for lunch. They have both recently passed. I would join them from time to time as the food was really good. I have been there several times since they passed and the food is going downhill. It's just not as good as it used to be. I adore this place, the owner, the staff. The food .. please DO SOMETHING! I want this place to stick around. We don't need another liquor store. Old school diner with all the nostalgic Coca-Cola memorabilia and music to match. Super cozy place and super friendly staff. Coffee came out piping hot and you just can't go wrong with a waffle in the shape of Texas. It was fluffy, warm, buttery, and delicious. I got one of the specials, the jalapeño, sausage, and egg skillet. I didn't taste any jalapeños in there but it was still a decent scramble. Worth a stop if you're in the area. We go to Dalrock Diner all the time. Love the place. But today was terrible. The staff was not friendly, no 'hello, welcome...' 'how was your meal'. My daughter immediately noticed the how they entire place seemed unhappy and stressed. The crew we used to see wasn't there either. Makes me wonder if the place has new owners? Smaller portions than usual. The Belgian Waffle is one of my favorites, today it was terrible. Like they made it with pancake batter... not how it usually is made. I usually recommend this place, not anymore. read more

The food was great for breakfast, the service was fantastic and the ambiance was super fun! Felt like an old car shop.

What an adorable place! And the food is EXCEPTIONAL! My friend and I had the turkey and dressing, and it was an especially interesting and extremely tasty version of this familiar meal. The green beans I chose to go with it were literally the best I've ever had. We also had the cinnamon French toast. All I can say is: "JUST DO IT!" It was amazing! I called in an order for a grill cheese sandwich and a coke. I requested my sandwich to be crispy with no pickle and light ham. Sandwich came out wet and soggy with a pickle on top of it. I pulled the waitress to the side and advised, look at my sandwich and explained. She takes the sandwich and come back with an attitude we can't give you a refund we can give you a store credit. No Ma'am give me my money back I need to eat now. She caused a big ruckus when all she had to do was refund me... How sad? I'm a Dr. In the city I'm in their everyday and you just mistreat me. If you are in the Rowlett area and are looking for a good breakfast place you need to try this diner. I have been here a couple of times and the food is always great. The restaurant is pretty small but there never seems to be a long wait when I have gone. The staff is so friendly and helpful. My mom and I are usually the ones that go so we are ordering orange juice, waters and coffee. I usually get eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. Every time we have been here the food comes out fast and correct. No complaints on the food at all!! Even though the place is usually busy the waitresses all help each other out with the table and refills on drinks. They make sure to stop by and make sure the orders are correct and that everyone likes their food. I don't think I have ever had a bad meal or experience here before. It is just outside my parents neighborhood so I know I will be back for sure!! read more

The food is always great. The wait staff is amazing and friendly. The place is small but looks like a real diner and clean! Nice plants inside and outside. They even have a garden growing for fresh herbs and peppers. I love this place.. My mouth is watering writing this review. This is my go-to breakfast when visiting my daughter in Rowlett. The service is helpful and served with a smile. The coffee is strong and hot. We always sit by the window. I enjoy the pancakes and the warm maple syrup! They have an extensive all-day menu, the parking lot is big enough, and the prices are in-line for breakfast fare. My daughter loves the Chorizo, just the right amount of spice and ratio to the eggs. We will be back :) read more

We come here quite often as we live down the street and although small in size their food is fantastic. I love that you can add Greek flair to any of your dishes. The veggie skillet with gyro meat added is FIRE. Only downside is the service can be lacking and unorganized at times but they are on point about coming around with coffee. read more

I arrived at 9:04 and was immediately seated by the older hispanic woman in the front. I waited patiently for 5 minutes in my seat when an older white lady came in after smoking a cigarette during rush hour breakfast. The older hispanic woman told the older white lady that she's been seated and she didn't respond. The older hispanic lady went on to say you've been seated two more times and the older white lady screamed in the middle of the restaurant "I HEARD YOU THE FIRST TIME!" She decided to do the older hispanic woman's job instead out of anger. I continued to wait for 7 more minutes and the older white lady still didn't even acknowledge me. I decided to leave. She doesn't belong in the service industry -- she's a better fit for the frontman at a towing company. read more

Ok, so I have been off for a week and have tried a lot of local restaurants. We came here last Monday on Labor Day and the wait looked to long. So we came back today. Well again there was at least 10 people waiting. So we decided to wait. Well the wait was well worth it. For a full place and 10 couples in front of us we waited like 15-20 mins. The fried pickles were different, and wonderful. We had the tuna sandwich and chicken fried steak. Both were nice and hot when delivered. ( can't say that for any other place I went this week ) also the pickles were hot as well. All the Veggies and bread was nice and hot perfectly cooked as well. The staff was very welcoming. It was a little warm Inside but it's a dinner and 100 outside so I can over look that. So the dessert, oh my the dessert. We tried the coconut, chocolate and Reese's cream pie. All of the pies tasted homemade. None were instant pudding. Very big slices. ( we took some home ). Over all this was the best place we ate at for the whole 9 days I was off. Chrome, vinyl booths, good food, friendly waittress? Must be a good diner!! The menu is so extensive, it almost reminds me of the Greek Diners on East Coast. Almost; some of the crazier dishes are not featured here. But plenty of burgers and sammies, breakfast/brunch staples from Chicken & Waffles to onelettes, Chicken Fried Steaks & Chickens, etc - ARE available here. Small dining room was packed today; we were lucky to get our premium booth! Can't blame these folks for crowding in; the food is good! My wife's French Toast & bacon were good, but the syrup was as runny as water (consistency of tea! My CFS was excellent; large and tasty with crispy batter and good gravy! Sides (black-eyed peas & mac/cheese) were tasty as well. Waittress was a delight; loud, friendly, engaging, and attentive! Truckstops would kill to hire her! Similar to Lakewood Diner down the street, but open for dinner. Bonus points here at Dalrock for dinner! Try it! read more

After church, breakfast calls for this family so Mr Google provided this new place for us to get our morning chow. Due to Rona, you need to stay in your car and the host will call you to let you know when your table is ready. As you enter, you can see that it's a retro style Diner. It's attractive yet challenging for a family of 5 to sit and enjoy a meal. We ordered the traditional omelet, pancakes, waffles etc. The customer service was effective and positive. The meal arrived quick yet a bit of a let down after we waited for a while. The omelet had nothing out of ordinary taste along with the other items. The pancakes were heavy and thick consistency not light and fluffy. The side of onion rings brought some taste to the meal. We paid $49 for a meal that lacked some zest especially for a Diner that looks like it's been around. I'll try again yet no time soon. read more

We were happy! I had the Rowlett special with all bacon and substituted French toast. I enjoyed the French toast, which had a little crisp to it on the edges. The bacon (OMG - 6 pieces) was thin, but crispy and yummy. The hash browns were a little undercooked for me in the middle, but were okay. And the scrambled eggs were scrambled eggs. He had George's omlette and was very happy with it. He said it was tasty. He said the pancakes were light - not any type of extra flavor or anything, but good for the light and fluffy aspect. Service was quick. I like when a waitress walks to her table with a coffee pot, and then checks the other tables for refills as she heads back to the kitchen. They did that for our coffee and water - and my water wasn't even empty when she stopped! That's good service, in my opinion. read more
