AVOID THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!! So I ordered from this particular BBQ located at 281 Fordham Rd. In the Bronx and after waiting an hour plus for the delivery it was canceled "five" minutes before arriving. I never received a call apologizing for the inconvenience especially after they made me and my family wait all that time for our dinner. The lack of professionalism, leadership and customer service is unbelievable. BBQ should be embarrassed to be represented by this particular store! One of the best Dallas BBQ's I've been too. Whenever I arrive here, it's quick seating, prompt service and pleasant employees. The paper menus are usually waiting at the table so I can immediately choose what I want if I'm hungry or in a rush. The parking is convenient if you can find a spot on the sides or behind the building. During the daytime hours it isn't too busy and I know I can guarantee get a seat without the hassle of waiting. I enjoy the drinks and the specials here, it's always tasty and enjoyable. The seating is pretty nice towards the back, can see a nice overview of the Bronx. It's pretty quiet, nice flow of air and a nice layout. The advertising is easy to understand and nice pictures. I let the waitress know I had 30 minutes to spare bc on break from work and wanted to know if service would be prompt. She let me know I did have time and was efficient with service and was able to eat, pay and leave within 35 minutes. It used to be Jimmy's Bronx Cafe. I had lunch with 3 colleagues and was disappointed. The food was horrible. I had the chicken sandwich lunch special...no taste. My colleagues had the veggie bean burger. One of the burgers had plastic, PLASTIC stuck inside. Seriously?!? I left feeling blah and wondering why I chose to eat here. From the age of 15 until 20, BBQs was in my top 10 favorite places to drink in NYC because; 1- they serve Texas sized margaritas 2- the few times I've been ID'ed, they've never scanned my fake. Mind you, they've stopped being one of my top 50 places to eat somewhere around the age of 10, because of the weirdness of it all; the boiled ribs, the lack of a dessert menu, and my stomach's tendency to evacuate its entire contents the next day. But still, I would still go there with my fellow under-aged friends, because.well, who doesn't love a cheap buzz? Plus, when shared, the appetizers were always enough to 'set the foundation' for a night of serious drinking. Now, as an adult, I'm so over this shit-show; the inevitable wait, the fake boiled ribs, the never-changing menu, the those tiny lil wet-wipes that are neither *WET* enough nor do they *WIPE* off enough saucy residue from your chin. Yet, for some strange reason, my mom wanted to do dinner here. Ever since BBQs opened a Fordham Road location in the Bronx, all she ever talks about is the convenience. "But it's so close-by!," she'd cry. And yes, a 15 minute bus-ride may be geographically desirable...but not when it's BBQs, cause I wouldn't eat there by choice if they were a 15 second bike-ride away. But for some strange reason, I decided to humor her and caved in last Sunday. And to my pleasant surprise, this BBQs was pretty spacious. Yet, like the rest of them, poorly designed - who/why the fuck tries to plan square tables in a round space? Because of this, we switched tabled 3 times, in order to avoid the distinct sensation of being sandwiched in by lovers and celebrating families. By the time we got settled in the only non-oppressive booth meant for 2 people, I was able to notice that our waiter, though sweet as sugar, was severely overextended and simply had too many tables than he could handle...while other waiters on the other side of this rotunda-like restaurant merely stood around and watched Family Guy on the plasma screens that encircled the room. Whatever, as long as my food is hot, I don't give a shit. So we proceed to pig out, via; -Two texas-sized pina coladas with the extra test-tube shot -Fried Shrimp -Onion Loaf -Pulled Pork sammich with fries (YUCK!) -BBQ burger (read bacon, fried onions and bbq sauce with cheese) .and this was a classic case of our eyes being bigger than our stomachs (or maybe our brains taking over our stomachs), because we barely touched 1/2 of our order...plus this shit is NASTAY!!! I also remember the drinks being *MUCH* stronger when I was a wee lass growing up; but after finishing my pina colada, the only buzz I felt came from the inane amount of sugar I just happened to slurp down. The only note-worthy thing I can mention is my surprise at the bathrooms being handicap-friendly, which is/was a change from most of the other BBQs in the chain. BBQ's is usually my boyfriend and I's pit stop for a quick meal whenever we're around. I've been to this specific location before and had no problems. I'm really not a fan of the food but my boyfriend likes it so I settle. Well a few days ago I picked up my boyfriend from the airport and stopped at the Bronx location on our way back upstate and when we got there at 11 AM it was closed. There's no hours posted on the doors or windows to let us know that. We saw servers running around inside so we knocked on the door to see if they could at least tell us when they were opening but no, we were ignored. We sat in the car for 30 minutes after calling and seeing that they open at 11:30 am. Now onto our server... Everything was okay at first. We were the first customers of the day, we quickly placed our order, my boyfriend ordered a drink (he was not ID'ed by the way), I just got water and a soda. Our "server" never asked us if we wanted a refill, she didn't even bring us our food, someone from the kitchen did. I would understand if they were busy but there was only two other couples there, really? We quickly ate, tipped a few bucks in cash, and was on our way. This morning my boyfriend checks his bank account and sees that this trashy server of ours STOLE $10 from him. She wrote $10 herself on the credit card slip as if it would go unnoticed? We are not cheap, I am an server myself so I understand and the service from this girl was horrible which is why she only got a few bucks and clearly she didn't deserve anything more being that she stole from us. My boyfriend immediately contacted the manager, Barry I believe his name was, and he was awesome in resolving this. He refunded the $10 and gave us a $25 gift card which wasn't necessary but appreciated which is why I gave it 2 stars because really I just want to give it 1 but that wouldn't be fair. Cool views of the Major Deegan expressway (if expressways are your thing) and a few BX high rises. Dine on all your Dallas BBQ usuals-messy burger platters, barbecued chicken and ribs and tasty little appetizers like Angry Shrimp. Recently, I tried the salmon steak with a side salad for physical sexiness reasons. Although it wasn't the rack of pork ribs with fries that I was craving, I wasn't disappointed. My salmon was tender, skinless (yesss) and not at all salty as I assumed it would be. I've been to every Dallas BBQ in New York and this is by far the best one. I don't care what the stars say - the Bronx BBQs is the BBQs that makes you feel the true experience of eating at a BBQs. A mix of different minorities, all of us in one place that's kind of remained an in-the-know kind of experience even though it's so popular. Idk, hard to explain, but I have really good memories associated with this place. I really don't care for the barbecue food here, but that's alright because we all know there's only one reason to come - HENNY COLADAS. I don't even enjoy drinking that much and I will body 2 Henny coladas straight on my cheat days. They're all I think about when I know I'm going to splurge. I am usually by the other side where the 4 train is. This location used to be Jimmy's Bronx Cafe back in the days, and the bathrooms here are still pretty fancy. I guess they kept it the same. The ribs looked really good but I didn't get them. The burgers actually looked good too. I ordered the Half Chicken BBQ flavored with Crispy Shrimp. Definitely not a bad option for $12.99. Sticky Wings are usually my favorite to order at any BBQ's (honey basted). I look forward to coming back here in the future. In 2011, I believe this was only the third time at any Dallas BBQ location. -Texas Size Drinks- Wild Berry or Strawberry Daiquiri are the way to go. The restaurant is nice and the food is good. We were a group of 7 on a Sat evening and had no problem finding a parking space or seating. There was only a couple of things that I did not appreciate. The bottom of the plate was dripping with sauce when the waitress brought it from the kitchen.Secondly the waitress (Judith) told us she could not split checks however we were in earshot of the table next to us where the waiter was asking how the party (much larger than ours I might add) wanted there checks split. Also on the receipt it says gratuity is charged when there is a party of 8 or more, Ms. Judith added her tip though we were only 7.
