My girlfriend and I wandered in just wanting some house wine and a snack. What we got was not only a fantastic meal and wine, but great kindness from Massimiliano and Marco. We walked in to find Massimiliano and his family eating. We ordered a liter of the house wine and a charcuterie board with some awesome meats, cheeses, and crostinis. Totally affordable and yet super tasty.
Then, a good experience became a great one. I think Massimiliano is the owner of dal Barone because he kept going in and out of the kitchen to get his family some food. As he brought out a plate of crostini, he caught me eyeing the food like a testosterone-filled teenage boy gawks at a beautiful woman.
He laughed and then offered us some crostini with brie and artichokes, some type of grilled beef with tomato... a sweet and savory concoction of cheese and honey on crostini....the list goes on...I have pictures. All I know is... it was awesome. He kept feeding us extra food and it was great.
Then Max and his family left, and we talked to Marco behind the counter and chatted about English language versus Italian, Italian dialects, vocabulary and linguistics, sights around Florence, etc. And we didn't have a lighter for Marco, sorry Marco.
Not to mention... The food we ordered was actually awesome. Looked like they had a wide selection of paninis and sandwiches too.
