We had the best time at this new sushi restaurant in Simi. There's plenty of parking and it's a perfect spot to go before you hit up Costco. We ordered rolls, a large beer, and some miso soup. Overall the food was above average and we plan to be back. What takes this place from 3 to 4 stars is the propel. Everyone working in the restaurant was incredible kind and helpful. The food was great! I had a dinner box with beef bulgogi, the crunchy roll and spicy tuna roll. The rolls were fresh and tasty/ the bulgogi was a bit greasy but very flavorful. I figured maybe it was that one thing or the fish in it. So I tried something else and that was disappointing. I kept hoping would change. Then the worst part of the thing is they charge you a surcharge if you use a card. They don't tell you that up front. Then I just noticed they charged my card an extra amount. I've had ramen all over the world--even in Paris--and I've never experienced spicy, pre-packaged glop like Dake Sushi. Yes, it really is bad. They have a regular ramen and a spicy one but there's no difference between the two. We asked for a non-spicy shoyu-based broth. Instead, we got an orange-colored spicey broth with curly, thin noodles that were just like the ones you get from the $1 package. Why would ramen have spicey orange broth that tasted a lot like taco seasoning? Oh, and the shrimp tempura is straight out of a box. Like they bought them in the frozen aisle at Walmart. No. Just no. To start off this has always been a hit or miss sushi place for us. Sometimes it's good sometimes it's not. Today was worst of the worst we got. The service was eh . Took both our menus away not leaving us one to look at at least. Then the first round of sashimi was great! Now the second was something else entirely. It was like we were eating at a different sushi place . The salmon I almost choked on a bone before I swallowed it I felt it and stopped and took it out. Proceeded to take out 5 more bones out of the salmon sashimi . 5!!!!! The lady all of a sudden didn't speak English saying it was the white radish which this round of sashimi didn't come w white radish not to mention it was hard which I knew was bones!!! I told her and we sent it back only eating one little piece of salmon and sent the rest back wanting the check. Guess what? They didn't refund us even $20!!!!!!! Not even a dollar of refund nothing. ! The audacity to charge someone full price after knowingly they had bones and skin on their salmon! It's just insane to me. We left and not going back again.
