This is my favorite Korean food that I've found so far and I've been to many Korean restaurants on Long Island and NYC. They have the best bibimbap. I highly suggest the Folsom bibimbap specifically because the meal is in a stone bowl and the rice is crunchy which is so delicious. Also, my favorite part about the meal here is all of the small plates. They are so flavorful and such different flavors. I also love their kimchi. Everything we ordered was just ok. Nothing more! The pieces of sashimi are huge & should really be cut in half. Sushi Chef forgot to cut the skin off the mango slices on the Mango Avocado roll. On top of which they were extremely slow with additional business; we had to ask 3 times for a soup spoon which they forgot to bring for the Shrimp Tempura Udon Soup! This is me and my hubby's favorite restaurant in our neighborhood for sushi!!! It's 5min walk from my home and we go at least once a week when we have craving for sashimi.. The fish is always FRESH and only get the good quality sashimi. The owner always greats us as we walk in like a family. I tried the dinner dish for the first time few month ago and I regret not having them before. the fish egg tang is amazing...the eggs are fresh and soft..yam.. spicy squid with pork belly is nice good spicy dish...just the way I like it. This is like our 2nd home..feels like eating home korean food. The couple works really hard and always smiles..makes the whole atmosphere even more cozy.. It is also very reasonably priced. rWe had been going to the trendier sushi places and spending more money for food that did not taste as good. So I went to this place Thursday just passed. It was good. I had a tune role with mango and avocado. It was good. Can't say much about the place. The lady at the front was a cute little Asian lady that barely spoke English but was a pretty good hostess. I sat down to wait for my to go roll and she brought me water with out asking. This is the only place to get really good Korean food on LI. There are two other Korean restaurants nearby but this place has the best banchan and the food is on spot with seasoning and authenticity. If you are expecting a fancy upscale sushi restaurant then you will be rather disappointed. It is small - in a shopping center and inside it is rather bland. I would suggest them to do a remodel to make the inside look more modern. The sushi is alright.. Not bad but nothing spectacular. The plus side is that the chef whips up the sushi very quick... In less than half the time most sushi chefs I've seen take. The wait staff is extremely warm and friendly. I would recommend this place for a quick lunch when you're on the go and in the area or if you are getting take out... Living in Melville, we are seriously weak in sushi restaurants. A few around but the sushi is substandard or expensive. Found Dake and was certainly not optimistic when I walked in. The restaurant is barely above a take out place in decor, location and appearance. However in the week since I had their sushi I have already mentioned Dake to 5 people. Fresh, tasty and wide range of rolls. I don't plan on going out with friends there for a night out, but it certainly fulfills what was needed in the area. Quality Korean food, as best as you can get on Long Island without driving into Flushing or NYC. It is definitely more a Korean restaurant than a Japanese/sushi restaurant. I've had tons of Korean food and I think their main and side dishes are very well made and authentic! We've tried several dishes including the soft tofu soup, sashimi platters, don katsu, and other Korean dishes-- all have been great. There was one shrimp tempura sushi roll that we thought was okay but didn't love, so have not tried ordering rolls again. My favorite is the spicy stir fried octopus on a hot plate! They have a general menu and a separate Korean only menu. General menu doesn't include some of the Korean dishes so if you are looking for Korean options, make sure to ask for the Korean menu! read more

This place is literally a hidden gem for sushi lovers that one good fresh fish with no frills and hands-down the cheapest rolls, Sushi, sashimi I have ever seen. As you can see by the menu photo their specialty rolls are only seven or eight dollars. The only negative is this place is not fancy it's kind of on the dingy dirty side. If they fix that place up and made it look a little nicer I would give it five stars. Last, I'm not a big fan of the plastic yellow cups you drinking it reminds me of a high school cafeteria. Awful. Have eaten-in and ordered take out from here more times than the quality has warranted. The rice used for the sushi rolls is of a consistency that would hint that it was steamed many many hours before use and then allowed to sit out, becoming subject to aridity. The fish in the sushi itself was not inherently bad, I wouldn't go so far as to describe the fish as having spoiled, but I do think it is not as flavorful as it ought to be for a restaurant boasting a medium sized assortment of sushi varietals. Also, on the subject of their fish portions; small! Granted, it was not all that expensive as I recall, maybe 4-7 per roll, depending what you order, but even still the portions could stand to be larger. Finally, as a Korean-Japanese restaurant, I would expect the Japanese hot dishes to be made in the Japanese tradition; teriyaki salmon came overcooked and way too dry - it would be astonished to learn that this was cooked to order, as opposed to pre-made at an earlier hour and then reheated in a microwave. I am a big fan of asian fusion, as well as "one-stop-shopping" for a variety of asian cuisines under one roof, but it would seem that this is merely a Korean owned, staffed, and operated restaurant seeking to expand their target market, and not genuinely a Japanese-Korean restaurant. Sorry Dake, but the truth is, I wished I had more hands, so I could give you more thumbs down. read more

There are seemingly 50 sushi shops in the greater Bethpage area, but there are shockingly few Korean restaurants. To be honest I've never had the sushi at Dake, but their Korean dishes are pretty solid. You're not going to find elaborate bbq dishes where you grill your own meat, but there is a wide variety in cooked dishes ranging from soups/stews to bibimbap/noodles and cooked meats served on an iron plate. It's a relatively small restaurant so they can be quite crowded, especially on weekends. read more

Now the experience I had here was different than most in that I actually ate with other Koreans when at a Korean/Japanese restaurant. Moreover, my relatives were regulars here or at least knew the staff, which undoubtedly creates a higher level of service and food quality. I say this because were were given hot tea, miso soup and banchan. Now this could've all been paid for but I didn't get that feeling. In my experience, geting these is pretty uncommon for lunch but that could also be based on the korean restaurants I go to. Anyways, I ordered a kimchi jigae or soup. The soup was fine but the pork they added had pieces of fat as big as the meat. My relatives ordered bibimbop, a hurricane roll, spicy bbq pork (daeji bulgogi), and some noodle dish. The daeji was really good but that's my favorite of all korean food so probably not a good point of measurement. The decor was pretty basic and the restaurant size was pretty small maybe 12 tables or so but we were the only ones there for Sunday lunch. Everything seemed very good but nothing was really outstanding. Banchan was about 7 dishes and there was plenty of food all around. I can only hope that the service quality is this good when non-koreans eat here but I would doubt it. A pleasant experience. Prices were in line with mid-quality sushi/korean restaurants. read more

The Tru Value Shopping Center is a bit hard to find as it is in the middle of a residential area, not to mention that the shopping complex looked pretty barren (a couple stores were closed down). The only thing lively there and seemed like walking into was Sushi Dake. When walking in, we (group of 4) were seated at one of the tables in the front (6-7 tables). The decor was very very plain. White walls with a few posters touting authentic japanese/korean fusion, etc. It was not an eye-turner. I was a bit surprised of the number of Korean people in the restaurant. There were several Korean groups of four, four, and eight. Another group of 5 Koreans walked into the restaurant and were seated in a back room that I'm guessing is reserved for parties or extra seating if necessary. The bathrooms are located all the way at the end of a long hallway, one for men and one for women. The men's bathroom had a lot of junk in there, (mops, buckets, boxes, towels), bathrooms were somewhat clean, but could definitely have used an air freshner. I was a bit reserved at the freshness of the sushi, so I decided to go with the Beef Teriyaki Lunch Box ($8.50), which consisted of Miso soup, Japanese salad, rice, fried dumplings, california rolls, and beef teriyaki with mushrooms. The miso soup was your average miso soup (tofu, seaweed, and broth), good as always. I found the Japanese salad dressing to be a little strong on the vinegar side. The fried dumplings (gyoza possibly?) were tasty. California rolls (4 pieces) were your ordinary roll. I will have to admit I was a bit impressed with the Beef Teriyaki with mushrooms. The teriyaki sauce was just right, not too sweet and not too salty. The beef, cut in rectangular cubes, were tender in the inside and very slightly charred on the outside. Very delicious. I was decently satisfied with my dish. (My colleagues had also said the sushi was pretty fresh, but I cannot give my review since I wasn't able to try it.) I noticed that the 3 other Korean groups around us had all ordered Korean food and the banchan (small appetizers) and the dishes looked very authentic, and delicious, I might add. I will definitely have to come back here to try the Korean food. read more

The sushi is incredibly fresh. The main hostess/server is super sweet and attentive every time. The man who makes the sushi is friendly and does a phenomenal job. The place is small and often crowded, usually with hungry golfers from Bethpage state Park who enjoy the traditional cuisine. The place is clean and the ambiance is pleasantly-no-nonsense. The food speaks for itself. I only eat the sushi and menu items but they appear to have some other packages for parties that want more traditional Korean dishes. Everything was good.. but the best thing in house that made my meal stand out from othr restaurants was the seafood pancake... thinly crusted, not too greasy, crispy on edges with a good filling of freshly sliced scallion and nicely done squid. This is my goto place after a round of golf at Bethpage. My husband likes sashimi and it's always fresh. I usually have a Korean whiting fish soup and it's always good. In fact it's better than most places in Flushing. And then I take out three rolls for my son at home. The owner/sushi chef is a really nice guy and his wife who waits the tables is a little on the shy side; but thank goodness for this little hidden gem otherwise I have to go all the way to Flushing for dinner after golfing. The only downside is that it gets crowded sometimes with all the other Korean patrons that also show up after their round of golf ! You can always tell if the fish is fresh by the number of tables having sashimi. read more
