I love this place so darn much! They have a large assortment of your everyday household needs along with really nice gift wrapping options too! They have a Korean beauty aisle, hair accessories, make up, some clothes and even gardening. They have a nice little nice snack aisle too! I sometimes spend hours just perusing the store, I just find it so much fun to check out all the fun items they have and I love the price. Most items are around $2 and I think the max is $10. Makes for a great place to buy small presents for people during the holidays. They also have seasonal decorations too. :) It's basically the Asian version of 99 cent store. 4 stars though for charging 20 cents on a paper bag. I love Daiso and always have to stop by if I see one in the area. This is a pretty big and very nice and clean location. Though there is tons of parking, the lot is overfilled. I don't know what it is about Daiso, but EVERY SINGLE location I have been to has the worst, busiest and most hectic parking ever. I never heard not seen this store until I stumbled upon it near the Northridge Fashion Center. This store is well lit and very clean for a discount store. It is close to a 99cent type of store except for one major difference. The majority of the items are 1.50 unless otherwise marked. It appears that the majority of the items are also from Japan and not from China or Thailand. They also have a policy that "All sales are final" "No returns, exchanges or refunds." They focused mostly on kitchen, accessories, office supplies, and beauty. Less emphasis on hardware, food, and outdoor supplies. They have less variety of traditional Japanese dishware but still a good amount. Most items are $1.50 unless otherwise marked. Sales are final and no exchanges or refunds so keep that in mind before you make that impulse buy. Overall, good for basic everyday stuff. A great store to go buy cutesy items. This place has almost everything- office supplies, makeup, kitchen items, gift wrap, asian snacks. It's Japan's 99 cent store, except everything is $1.50 (or otherwise priced) and the quality is better. The aisles are a bit cramped because the space is small, but very clean and well organized. If you like something in the deal section in front of the counters, buy it immediately because it might be a while before they restock. As an artist, I love their selection if brush pens. They do accept credit/debit but you have to spend a minimum of $10. Not a hard thing to do, because it's definitely easy to splurge in this store. read more

I have absolutely no critiques for this shop. I literally spent an hour in here browsing the merchandise. I found the perfect little gifts for Christmas and the prices are impressive! The coolest part of the whole experience was finding household sundries that I couldn't have found elsewhere around town. Found adorable and practical portable clothes drying racks, knee socks that were sewn with care and not grossly overpriced like Target. Love Daisy Japan!!! This is one of my favorite stores and we visit this location every month for my house hold cleaning products and school supplies. Believe it or not their beauty products are not bad and so affordable compare to purchasing them online you'd pay half the price. Love their facial mask and cleanser. I've described this place to friends as "like the 99¢ store with style" but I have since realized that is not adequate. Because this place has so many things that are completely unique to Americans, it makes it really interesting. Granted - I may not have a use for some of the things that they sell, but many of them are clever or interesting enough that I could walk around the store for hours, and not get bored. Almost everything that they sell is $1.50. The things that are not are still very reasonably priced. Do not come here with little children because they are not allowed to touch items unless you are buying it. I came here with my 2 1/2 year old and she was playing with some of the toys on the floor. A worker approached us and started watching over us, then started picking up the toys and putting them back on the shelf. I looked at her in disbelief and she asked me, "Are you going to buy?" I said I'm not sure yet and she said, "You cannot touch if you will not buy." I couldn't believe it so I went to the front and looked for a manager and told her what happened. My infatuation with this place started when I worked by the Daiso in Buena Park. When I moved away from BP I was sad I could no longer visit often but recently I took a new job next to their location in Northridge and I am so happy I can visit often again! I mostly visit to check out their health & beauty, stationary and kitchen department. They have cute items from Tupperware, Utensils to help make sushi/ramen, make-up brushes, face mask and cute arts & craft packages. Also, during the holidays they have the cutest decorations for any room. I also visit often because everything is VERY inexpensive. I bought 12 wine tumblers for $19 because I was hosting a Christmas party. Daiso was my go to for decorations and cute detailed touches to the party. They are also great with refilling their merchandise. If they run out of something the day you happen to be there then you can guarantee the following week it will be back on the shelf with plenty extra. I tell all of my friends about Daiso, especially after all the compliments on decorations at my Christmas party, and I am happy to share it on yelp! Check this place out! read more

Where do I even start? Daiso... Oh Daiso. My dollar store heaven. Everything at Daiso is about $1.50 unless it's labelled with a different price. The cashers will even remind you when checking out that the item is a different price. In perfect Japanese fashion, everything there is frickin' adorable or "kawaii" かわいい (which means cute in Japanese.) They have pretty much everything you need, from household stuff, organization, beauty, snacks/food/drinks, gardening, pets, office/school/art supplies, crafting, party decor, and auto/hardware things. My favorite thing about Daiso is their seasonal stuff. Halloween is so lit there!!! Everything is so damn cute I can't even stand it!!! I would do all my Daiso shopping at the SGV locations but since I go to school in Northridge I was excited when it opened up in Northridge! It is located across the street from the mall, right next to DSW in the same plaza as Super King. That being said, parking is a pain because of terrible drivers but the lot is huge so finding a spot is no problem. As I was walking around the store, the first thing I noticed was that it is definitely on the small side with narrow aisles and everything was crammed into such a small store. This place is clean and you can find pretty much everything you need here. Everything is $1.50, a few things are $3, $4 or even $1 but I'm not complaining. It's cute how they have seasonal items for each holiday too. Checkout is fast and easy. Cashiers are friendly and sweet. Mastercard or Visa only when paying with card. $10 minimum for credit but no minimum for debit. Oh, and they don't give out plastic bags anymore but they sell reusable ones for $1.50! read more

Knowing my uh...thrifty nature, a co-worker buddy suggested that I come here. Recently I was in the area hanging out with some friends one day, and had the opportunity to visit. The parking lot is kinda busy, it shares a lot with several other busy stores, so be careful out there. I had to park clear on the opposite side of the lot to find a suitably warm and fuzzy spot for my ride. But after parking and walking across the lot, I found myself standing face to face with the doorway, and secretly wondering what I had gotten myself in to. The basic premise of the place is "dollar store", exept most of the items inside the store are a dollar fifty, and everything is imported from Japan. So instead of "Dollar Store" it's a "Dollar fifty Japan store". But it's basically the same basic principal. I wandered up and down the aisles, looking at things, wondering what some things were, and wondering what I would actually do with the items. Similar to the Dollar store, there are some items here are more than a dollar fifty. For example, I saw some teapots that were four dollars each. The place does have a ton of stuff. Sushi makers of assorted shapes and sizes, lunch boxes, bento boxes, resalable plastic holders for those triangle rice ball thingies, fish/bug catching nets, dishware, garden and office supplies, assorted kitchen doohickies both recognizable and completely alien were just the beginning of this place's varied goods. I was a bit reluctant as I began to meandered my way around the place, but ended up picking through the stacks and stacks and stacks of assorted dishes and cups to cobble together a dish set for Schoolteacher. (She's got a thing for blue flowers.) So, truth be told, if you spend enough time in there, there's something for just about everybody here. Again, some of it useful, some of it not so much. All told I spent about fifteen dollars on cutesy blue-flower dishes, strange Japanese teas and even stranger Japanese candies. Girl at the register reminded me that all sales are final, and nothing can be returned or exchanged. She then carefully paper-wrapped up all my dishes and put them in a bag. FYI: Bags are ten cents here, but they're solid paper bags that can certainly be re-purposed after getting them home. It's certainly a very interesting place to poke around in, so who knows, I may or may not be back? read more

Bless the Lord, it's arrived in the Valley! Yeah, it's a dollar store that stocks Asian wares. They sell so many cute things here! I've been searching forever for some of the baking utensils that they stock here and when I showed up to check the new store out today, I was surprised to see that they sell so many different shapes of cookie cutters. And they're all cute. It's cheap, and a few things are more than $1.50, but okay, where else are you going to find a USB-powered miniature fan for $3? -1 star for being final sale only. Sigh. You may say that you're coming in and not buying anything, but you'll end up with $20 of stuff that you didn't think you need (and you probably don't need a paper adhesive toilet cover.) Daiso Japan is like a Japanese .99 Cent store, but because of the conversion (so I've been told) it is advertised as everything being $1.50 (except where noted). The positives is that it's cute and it feels much cooler and less junky than your average .99 cent store. That said, a lot of things should be .99 cents and note 1.50. And a lot of things that look like deals for 1.50 are marked higher prices. I love the layout and the lighting, which makes everything seem cool. I am obsessed with this place! I am one to do weekly shopping trips at Target for random things such as cleaning supplies, school supplies, etc. and Daiso has saved me from spending more than I should on most of those things. I'm like a kid in a candy store when I'm in this shop. I can easily spend a good hour here. They have mostly everything I need and it's a great alternative to most things I want since it's only $1.50. I am not a fan of going to the 99 cents store and I feel that this place cannot even be placed in the same category as them. My most useful purchase was the clear plastic bins with handles on the top. I am currently taking an art class in college and am required to have an "Art Bin" to organize our supplies. At any art store, one of these bins can easily be $20! Who would want a $20 fancy logo bin, when you can get the same bin for $1.50 but in a cute pink? Most of the workers here are young and in college. They are sweet and make me want to keep coming back. The only problem about this place is that they may run out of the item you want. I hate to give them a star even for the service they had provided after selling a incorrect product. Before I buy I asked several times if this is right size or not. I called their store asking if they have the right screen protector for the iPhone 6s. Mallory told me that they have that in store. I drove and picked up the item last night. I bought 2 of the screen protectors. After I opened the package, I see the screen protector is for iPhone Plus. I went tonight to return the product; she refused. I insisted to discuss that with her owner, Mariam. Her owner also refused. Malory acted very rude saying you should have opened the item before leaving the store. Love Daiso. So many things I never knew I needed. Merchandise is always changing which is fun and challenging. I went back to get a 'swifter' type mop and they didn't have it but did have the replacement microfiber pads. They didn't know when or if they would have more. They had great slipper microfiber mops. Slippers that you could use to dust the floor with. I bought them as a joke but my son loved them for his small wood floor apt. Went back to Greg more but they do not have them. When I first walked in the first thing I thought was Pink! Pink everywhere. Daiso's like the asian version of the 99 cents store except everything is 1.50 unless marked otherwise. No matter what you're probably going to buy a bunch of stuff you don't need just because its so cheap! It can be a hoarders paradise or worst nightmare. My favorite things to buy here are fake eyelashes,umbrellas, and school supplies because they are cheaper than in most places. There are also a bunch of makeup, cleaning supplies, kitchen stuff, and iPhone cases for 1.50. Can't get cheaper than that. On the weekends this place is too crowded so I suggest going on the weekday. If you're using a credit card there's a $10 minimum but there's no minimum for a debit card. i found out through a friend that daiso opened up here in the valley, so i was super excited to come & check them out! PROS: -nearby NFC (northridge fashion ctr) & pacific theaters; located inside the plaza, near DSW shoes -they sell pretty much everything for cheap; it's like a asian wal-mart lol... everything's pretty much $1.50, except for some selected items -they have english translation on what some of the items are -they accept cash, credit, & debit forms of payment (however, for credit, the minimum's $10) -they allow you to take small baskets back to your car if you don't wna purchase their bags & you can just bring them back CONS: -overcrowed w/ teeny boopers & rude old ppl -cashiers & workers seem miserable -they have a "you break, you buy!" policy -all sales are final; no returns or exchanges -most items aren't of high quality & most items are in japanese -they don't have much of a good variety of snacks/drinks -no bags @ check out, unless you purchase one from them OVERALL REVIEW: granted, everything sold here are super cheap, but like i said, most items aren't of high quality. nothing special here really, but i'd come back. i prefer mitsuwa marketplace over daiso. read more
