And if anyone knows me, I can dance...lol It's located in a mini mall on the South East corner of Sepulveda & Van Owen. Plenty of parking in the lot...Most items are under $2.00 hence the name. They have many celebratory items including balloons. There is a kitchen, beauty, household, arts & crafts, toy, and food section as well. Each day has a price, and everything on the bin is that price, like Sunday everything is 6 dollars, Tuesday is 2 dollars, etc. That whole concept is great, except it has problems! 1st. They make it clear that no one can open the boxes on the tables and even have signs on the wall. However, it is not enforced, and every box is open. People rip these Amazon boxes to see inside and then lose the pieces. Therefore, that item is now useless. The worst part is that it is probably still on that table somewhere, but if you want that missing piece, you must now look for it. No one will do that, so therefore now it is just trash that sits there. 2. They sell a lot of stuff that is broken or reboxed and retaped, so be careful with that. Just because it's taped up does not mean it's never been opened. These items are items that have been returned for a reason. Yes, there are great items in the tables, but also defective ones. I bought a fan I thought was great because it was on sale for 4 dollars. When I opened it, it was dusty and made a nasty sound that hurt my ears. 3. Expired. You will find lots of food here, but it never sells. Why? Because it's expired. Sometimes you can't even see unless you open the boxes, which is why everyone opens these boxes, but you're not supposed to, but then you never know what's really inside. It's madness and confusing. Last. Not everything is bound by the overall price rule. There's stuff on the wall that's the good stuff that they won't sell at the table price but at regular retail prices, even if it came from the same shipments as everything else. Oh, there's a fridge in this shipment. Well, let's put it on the wall and sell it for half the market price instead of the $4 Monday that it's advertised for. Kind of defeats the purpose. So yeah, many flaws here; be cautious in what you buy. Does this mean there's no good stuff here? Hell, yeah, there is. I bought a lot of great stuff here, but with many great items, there are multiple bad ones, so just check your stuff. At the end of the day, you are getting a deal out of it regardless, right?

HOW have I gone this long without reviewing Smarty's!?!?!…read more My daughter and I are Art's biggest fans. Every Thursday (which is when Art gets in his pallets of new inventory), she says to me "Happy Smarty's Day!" You just never know what you are going to find here. We have gotten the following items in the past year or two: a brand new Samsung dishwasher (a model that had only been on the market for five months, new in the box for over $700 off retail price!), a Ninja Creamy ice cream machine, Instant Pot lid that turns it into an air fryer, Dyson and Shark vacuum cleaners for hundreds off list price, deck boxes and hose reels for the backyard, a new microwave, an amazing array of plastic storage bins in all sizes for the garage/storage locker...and that's just off the top of my head! Going to Smarty's is our weekly treasure hunt. More than once, my daughter has bemoaned that she bought something elsewhere only to find it later at Smarty's for a fraction of the price. On the rare occasion that something we bought ended up damaged after we opened the box (which does happen from time to time, given the nature of the business of buying pallets of stuff from Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc.), Art has always made good and given us a full refund. I am almost loathe to tell people about this store because I want to keep these amazing, secret deals all to myself, but I also want Art to stay in business forever. Thanks, Art! We had no large bags or items with us--just a wallet--yet we were treated with a level of suspicion that did not seem warranted. At the same time, another customer (take a gander) in the store, who had a large backpack, which looked like it could fit an arsenal was able to shop freely without the same level of attention. The contrast in how we were treated was noticeable and concerning. Prior to visiting, I had already spoken with someone about purchasing a higher-priced item. However, due to the way we were treated during our visit, my husband and I decided not to move forward with the purchase. Instead, we chose to leave and spend our money elsewhere. We ended up going to a nearby business (Ss donuts) where we experienced welcoming and respectful service, which only highlighted the difference.
