It's Daiso, so it can't be that bad, but it really pales in comparison to the huge Daly City store; it's like the Daiso 7-11 to Serramonte's Daiso Walmart. Even new the SF Japantown store is bigger and has more variety. That being said, this is still a fun place to drop in and pick up necessities (and complete non-necessities) for pretty cheap. Would probably be a lot more exciting if I hadn't been spoiled by the sprawling aisles of the Peninsula branch. Recommended to anone for whom it's convenient - otherwise, skip ahead to one of the bigger stores. read more

Cute Japanese shop. Everything is small but that's the charm I guess since Asia girls love small adorable thing. The place is neat, organized, tidy, but compact only two or maximum of three people can fit though the walls. The place where you everything is affordable for everything ur looking for, from socks to a back-massager. The staffs are are nice people, one of the staff gave me advice about the makeup I was thinking about buying, she told me the con and pros about using a certain brand on my skin. This is the second place at South Shore that Daiso has occupied. The first was a very, very small place. But this one is now much bigger (at least 3 times bigger). The isles are cramped, and they do not have as big a selection as its counterpart in San Francisco of Union City. In a bind, not a bad place, but their selection is really limited here. read more

One of my favorite Daiso's in the bay area. It's a bit small compared to the Union City Daiso, but you can still find the basics. You can't beat $1.50 snacks, candy, school supplies, etc. It's well organized, but the isle are VERY narrow. Caution when walking near glassware. =) read more

A great location to grab whatever random doodads you need for your home, work, school, etc. Snacks are always a must whenever I drop by Daiso! As one of their smaller locations, they don't have carts because of their relatively narrow aisles but they have baskets to shop with! As they charge for bags, you can either buy one near the front or bring your own! Gets really crowded on weekends so I like to do my shopping either really early or on weekdays! read more

I personally love Daiso for cheap art and sewing supplies. I've been really happy with my purchases of: water color paper, sewing pins, oil pastels, origami paper, erasers, and glue. I have not liked any of the Daiso pens or markers (ink too gloopy or dries up too fast). I think a lot of the Japanese dishes and cups they have are really quite beautiful, I can't believe they only charge 1.50 a piece. I agree with other reviewers that this place has narrow aisles and can be crowded. I try to go during the week and right when they open or at 7pm before they close to avoid the worst crowds. read more

This Daiso is really small but still has most of the things I would still normally shop for. Aisles are incredibly narrow.

Don't get me wrong, I love Daiso but this store is always out of stock of my favorite items. I get that some items rotate but the kitchen sponge pack of 8 is no longer there, and I have seen them at other locations all the time. It is a much smaller selection of stuff then other Daiso stores. The other day I went to the makeup area and an entire shelf was empty. They were clearly out of items. They need to restock more often... Other then that it is really nice to have a Daiso so close to me so of course I will come back. I just wish they had as many items as other stores or at least kept a good stock of everything with no empty shelves. read more

Daiso is kind of like an Asian indoor flea market to me. They have so much junk that you really don't need but only want because it's all only $1.50. They always keep up with the seasons and holidays so they do sell decorations for almost every occasion. I usually come in on my lunch for snacks and they have these seasonal pickled plums that my husband likes so I like to stock up whenever they're available. This location is a lot smaller than any of the other Daisos that I have been to but they still have a large variety of products. They carry household items, make up, snacks, gift wraps, etc. BEWARE you will walk out with way more than you need! read more

It is a small Daiso but good enough for Alameda. It is a hit and miss but I go every few weeks to see what is new. They do switch up their products frequently. Cute bento supplies. Fun snacks. Items can add up at $1.50! The store is constantly restocking. Staff are nice and friendly. read more

This place is interestingly awesome. Super cheap goodies and you can find random things in all of the aisles. From kitchen utensils to school supplies and trinkets. Most items are $1.50 unless the sticker says otherwise. The highest price I've seen is $3.00, so that's still inexpensive. I love this place! read more

I was looking for a Christmas present earlier this week and I went up to this guy working at the shelves, he's like Asian kind of young. I asked where the plastic shakers were at. He straight up gave me the most rudest look and said 'what?' So I repeated myself and said shakers for vodka or alcohol. Btw I have been there tends of times and saw them laying around. Anyways again with the rudest attitude he said, 'we don't sell anything for alcohols here.' And rolled his eyes. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Obviously there's shot glasses and all that 'alcohol' stuff in isle two. Bottom line, hire older more experienced helpful workers. Unbelievable. read more

This Daiso has a bunch of different knickknacks to fill your knapsacks with. Fill your rucksack with school supplies, kitchen tableware, kitchen tools and kitchen tool accessories, among other cool things. If you are really frugal, you can come here for holiday goods and accessories. For example, we saw some pretty cheap (like $1.50) Halloween costumes. read more

Don't expect good service. They're basically hired to unbox and stock the shelves. They're not helpful at all and will most likely ignore you. But you can find cheap stuff like laundry garment bags for cheap, office supplies, and tons of other stuff that you don't need but want. And it's not like the store is hard to navigate. read more

This place blows the 99 cents stores away. I can't believe the selection, quality and prices of the stuff there. And it's like a little trip to Japan in the middle of an Alameda shopping mall. Plus, there isn't the "ick" factor like there is at a lot of other bargain stores. Only down side is there are no returns. Still, I'm a fan! read more

Been to a ton of Daiso, including one in Japan and this one is the wackest one of all. It's super small and not a lot of variety selection. There is unnecessary signage all over the place, makes the place look so cluttered and unorganized. Things are placed all over the place and not well staffed. Standing in line to get checked out takes forever, 2 outta 3 register are cash only. read more

This place is so much nicer now that it's in it's new larger location in Alameda. Lots of great knick-knacks, home goods, and snacks, all for mostly $1.50. I love coming here to check out the containers and cute things I never knew I needed. Very clean inside and a great selection of goods. After stuffing ourselves silly at the food trucks, we decided to walk off lunch and browse through the shops. Discovered that Diaso had a branch at the mall. This is the Japanese version of a dollar store. Clean, neat and chock full of cool stuff you may not exactly need but most definitely want. read more

Ah Daiso! A store filled with things you didn't know you needed, but cheap enough that you can get them all! This Daiso location is quite small and can get very busy, but it's still worth four stars for not having to drive down to Fremont. Make sure you bring your own bag or plan to pay for one. read more

I like the stuff here. Staff quite pleasant except for a lady who I believe is supervisor. She wasn't willing to go around the counter and help me find something I was looking for. You can't expect everyone to go the extra mile, but I ended up finding what I needed anyways it's a nice and clean store just the people skills have plenty of room for improvement. read more

Pros- 1) $1.50 price ($1.64 with tax), a few nicer items $3 2) unique items with character (Japanese-style) 3) young but nice staff (they are never sitting around bored, they're either restocking, at the register, or helping (have to ask for help, but they're polite) Cons- 1) They blow out of inventory fast, so narrow aisles are cluttered with restocking boxes and inventory is unreliable at times (aw, they don't carry that anymore!) 2) Not wheelchair friendly. I tried to push my dad along the aisles and we had to move end-aisle baskets and kept bumping into things, my dad hated the experience, so he never returned. Everytime there is a stroller there, I avoid that shopper due to a need for personal space. Overall, everytime I go to South Shore Shopping Center, I go here and find something to buy with the rationale that it is $1.64. I would recommend you go here for a fun shopping trip where you don't have to stress as much over cost. read more

Don't forget to bring a reusable bag with you when shopping at this Daiso otherwise you will be charged 20 cents for one. That's the most I've heard charged for a bag thus far. Most items in Daiso are $1.50 each unless priced higher. In some instances a product may be priced lower. The staff at this location have all been friendly and work at a fast pace so that the checkout line is rarely very long. For some reason the snack food shelves were on the empty side today. I hope they aren't planning to discontinue carrying snacks there. read more
