Oh DQ! So many fond memories! Many DQ's in California have closed but the DQ of my childhood in NJ is still thriving! They added an order window (likely during the Covid pandemic). You can order from outside at the window or you can go inside. They have outdoor and indoor seating, and you'll likely see lots of sports teams and families supporting this hot spot. It's a large and clean location, very well staffed on a busy Saturday night. Service was friendly and super fast! I had an oh-so-comforting cookie dough blizzard (cookie dough blended into the vanilla soft serve) - didn't add M&M's this time but that is also a winning combo. My niece had a cookie dough and Oreo blizzard and it was awesome. My Mom enjoyed her classic wafer cone with vanilla ice cream dipped in the cherry hard shell coating. Always a great, quick stop for some yummy ice cream. Quick and friendly service. Many options to choose from. We were a party of 9. I think most of us got the soft serve, mint chocolate chip, and cotton candy. They only had wafer cones (meh). Wish they offered waffle or sugar cones. Would have made us some happy campers. Miraculously, I've yet to review a location in the DQ chain line. This specific Queen is well-deserved of my only written Diary of the likely best soft serve chain in the biz. I must start this off controversially, yet truthfully. Dairy Queen is an ice cream store. Ice Cream. Not fast food. It is an Ice Cream store that happens to have fast food items in some locations. It also sometimes serves smoothies and juices. Don't even start with me here... I will absolutely lose it. You shnooze you lose, you fight I bruise and you still lose so if you want a shiner I'll play the piano on your eye lids and tap dance on the ridge of your brow. I'll sing a tune in June in such shrill a sound that your minute brain will sneak out the back door and leave you even further thoughtless. Now that I've relieved an ancient and effervescent blurb of anger, in a tasteful yet effective manner... I can continue on the Wyckoff DQ review. We are blessed here in Bergen County, NJ (AKA the closest thing to the Garden of Eden on this side of the Atlantic Ocean.) So blessed with our top notch Dairy Queen options. I don't know if it's the manager, the employees I really don't know. They are all absolutely lovely, they have massive lines that they cycle in and out like bicyclist Lance Armstrong... cycling his steroids ayyyyyooooooo. They are never rude, always happy, they get your order right and are attentive to any and all disturbing requests. Any. And. All. Anywaysssss, this is a true center stage of town. Kids and families gather in masses to hail their leader, her majesty, the Royal Queen of Dairy. I do pay my respect as well, as I respect the title of queen. The Royal dairy family. Very poor service beginning with the manager. We went and the sign posted said open until 10:30 and dining room open until 9:30. We bought our order to eat inside at 9:05. Immediately after paying we were told the dining room is closing in 5 minutes. Strange. Two minutes later they were locking the doors and making a big to do as if we were in the way. Well we left and explained to the manager the issue. Rather than apologizing, she responded "we've been closing at 9" which is not true because we bought it inside after that. My family and I went here for dessert the past 3 nights and it was quite busy each time. As usual though, the line moved quickly and the employees did a nice job. Very LAST time I ever go to the Wyckoff store to order a cake, or anything else for that matter. The owner is aggressive and argumentative. I overlooked it the last two times, thinking he was just having a bad day, but I will never go to this location again. The kids who work there are very nice. As we want to avoid the outside during Covid-19, we were excited to see that Dairy Queen now has an outside window to serve ice cream. Of course, it is Dairy Queen, so it is not necessarily as good as many of the homemade ice cream places in the area. However, the store has a lot of flavors and options. Stopped by for a medium vanilla ice cream cup tonight. It was the world's smallest medium. It was actually the size of a small, small. The workers even confirmed it was in fact a medium size, after I received it . Ice cream texture was a bit off as well {mushy}. Have been going here for years. Service is usually ok but tonight was bad even for this place. Girl made 4 medium size cups of vanilla soft serve with peanut butter sauce. She drops one on the floor, half the ice cream falls out, she picks it up adds more peanut butter sauce and serves it to us. It has half the ice cream as the others and half of what we are paying for! Im not asking for the faculty of Harvard to be working behind the counter but does it really take a genius to figure out you dont serve an ice cream that fell on floor? Warning! Even though we know Dairy Queen is NOT a peanut free facility we did not know how easy it is to end up in the Emergency Room from ordering a blizzard here. We ordered a small vanilla Oreo Cookie Blizzard for my granddaughter and the young man who waited on us made her a Reese's Peanut Butter one instead. One spoonful and we were on out way to the hospital with her throat tightening. So after lots of Bendryl, steroids, and being monitored for 3 hours we went home with instructions for more meds. The manager returned my call the next morning & rudely explained to me that 1). "We are not a peanut free facility so she shouldn't even come here. 2). Mistakes are made when it gets busy. 3). Our equipment is not cleaned all the time.....only before and after shift changes or the end of the day". So........allergy patrons beware!! I've been going in for years even through my kids are long gone and it just my wife and I. Recently we were in for our cones when there was a new employee that was being trained, my wife and I felt so bad for the boy! The trainer was really giving the boy a really hard time and not really teaching him anything!! So I said something to him. I was very up set with the way he talk back to me!! I have lived very close by for my whole life. My experience here has always been very kind staff, up until 1 minute before close. My order is always right, and I don't feel rushed even with a line behind me. Lately there have been two females here that roll their eyes, give customers attitude, and yell in the back because people (like myself) walk in 45 minutes before closing. I frequent this location often, as I live nearby. It's usually pretty busy, but I find that I never have to wait long and my order is always correct (even if I order several items for my whole family). I came in last night around 8:15 pm because I was craving a blizzard and have not had DQ in a while. It wasn't very busy, but all of the workers (three young guys) were very attentive--and funny too! They were all extremely pleasant and friendly. My sister's milkshake seemed a little thin (not thick like a milkshake should be), but it seemed ok.
