Ice cream is as good as ever. Service ok, ambiance is a kin to a middle school lunch room.

Great service. Great homemade ice cream. And excellent prices. Such a cute little spot with a…read morefantastic menu to choose from and everything is homemade. We loved our ice cream! Definitely recommend! We had vanilla lemon, key lime pie, and pistachio.

Van Dyk's is one of those classic summer traditions for my family. We usually make a few trips here…read moreevery summer, and it's easy to see why people keep coming back. Their homemade ice cream is delicious, and they offer a huge variety of flavors. We stopped by on a Friday afternoon and lucked out--it wasn't crowded yet. If you've ever been here during peak summer hours, you know that's a rarity. This place is a local favorite, and long lines are pretty common later in the day. I was really hoping to get my favorite, Bailey's Cream, but they were sold out. That's one thing to keep in mind: while they have a ton of flavors, they aren't always all available. I ended up ordering the Black Raspberry Chip with free rainbow sprinkles (my go-to), and it definitely hit the spot. Someone in our group got a milkshake and absolutely loved it, while another ordered the Cappuccino Oreo and enjoyed it as well. Portion sizes: A single scoop (their small) is surprisingly large. With prices having increased over the years, I'd love to see a smaller, more affordable option for those times when I just want a little ice cream. I also wish they'd let you choose two flavors in a small cup instead of requiring a double scoop (medium) if you want to mix flavors. A few things to know before you go: Van Dyk's is cash only, although they do have an ATM inside if you need it. The shop itself is very small, with no indoor seating or restrooms. There are only a few places to sit outside, so most people end up standing around or grabbing a spot on the small wall. Parking can also be a bit of a headache. The lot gets hectic, especially when they're busy, and better signage would definitely help. We've found it's often easier to park on a nearby side street and walk over. Even when the line is long, the staff does a great job keeping things moving. One employee usually takes care of an entire group from start to finish, which helps keep the ordering process efficient. Everyone we've interacted with has always been friendly and helpful. Even with the cash-only policy, limited seating, and hectic parking, Van Dyk's is still one of our family's favorite summer traditions. The homemade ice cream keeps us coming back year after year, and hopefully next time they'll have my favorite ice cream, Bailey's Cream, in stock.

The line was fairly long when I visited, but it moved quickly thanks to the efficient staff. This time I tried the Georgia Peach ice cream. It was good and definitely hit the spot, though I have to admit I left thinking that Tillamook's Sweet Cream Peach back home is still my favorite peach ice cream. Even so, Kilwins delivers exactly what you'd hope for: quality ice cream, a great atmosphere, and plenty of tempting treats beyond just the frozen desserts. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be back to try more flavors.

My girlfriend and…read moreI generally go to friendlys or Ben and jerrys after we eat in ridgewood but we decided to give Maggie moos a try for a change. Boy were we wonderfully surprised. When we first walked in we kind of were turned off by the way the ice cream looked- kind of plain with nothing in it- but we then realized you had to pick some toppings to mix in. So we picked a cookie dough, fudge, Oreo combo. That first bite, wow. I was expecting a Baskin Robinesque, chain tasting, unoriginal ice cream; I was thankfully very wrong. It was the perfect amount of creamy and hard, tasted very homemade and spectacular, and had large, delicious chunks of cookie dough! I really recommend coming here for a good scoop with delicious toppings on any day!
