What a cute little ice cream shop. They have all kinds of unique flavors and whats better is that they have vegan specials. I've dragged my husband couple of times and I'm surprised and delighted with their selection. Their special changed all the time so you don't get stuck with the same flavor. You can tell Cranberry junction has retained it's charm and style over the years, standing tall as a staple of the town with a nice grassy sitting area out front and some picnic tables on the side to enjoy your ice cream. I tried their Nutella ferrero rocher flavor but ended up going with my typical, a large Oreo milkshake. It was 22oz so it was huge and I definitely enjoyed it. I'd have to say their ice cream is a bit less sweet comparatively than others but it's still good. Definitely a nice after dinner spot as the place got busy quick. read more

I recently visited this ice cream shop and was disappointed with my experience. The worker marcelo who helped me seemed irritated whenever I asked questions about the menu and even before he took my order he rolled his eyes when the phone rang and made a rude comment about getting a call, as if this isn't his job. I originally tried ordering a smoothie, but I was repeatedly told certain fruits were unavailable. When I chose another smoothie, I was then told that several fruits normally included in it were also missing. I understood and was willing to work around what was available, but the employee continued to seem annoyed throughout the interaction. Additionally, I ordered a 16-ounce smoothie, and the cup was not filled all the way to the top at all there was a lot of space between the top and the smoothie which was disappointing considering the price paid. Since this is a family-owned business, I wanted to share my experience respectfully because customer service and communication really matter. Stopped by Cranberry Junction Ice Cream and had a good first visit! I got a cone with two scoops--one Oreo (playing it safe) and one Rum (going a little outside the box). The Oreo was everything you'd want--creamy, sweet, and packed with cookie chunks. Definitely a solid, classic flavor I'd get again. The Rum, on the other hand, wasn't for me. I'm not a big fan of rum or alcohol flavors in general, so that one didn't hit the mark--but that's more on me for taking the risk than on the ice cream itself. Lesson learned! There's plenty of parking right out front which made it super easy to pop in and out. Overall, a cute spot with a lot of flavors to choose from. I pass by this ice cream shop so many times when driving through hackensack. During the day it doesn't look open but at night it's pretty busy! This trailer like ice cream shop has tons of home made flavors to choose from. It's got a vegan selection and a taste for chocolate lovers to fruit lovers to caramel lovers. They have cups and cones. The ice cream was creamy and tasty. The kids lived the cookie monster and the mint chocolate chip. I got the cake batter which hit the spot. Outside they have a nice bench area to enjoy your ice cream. The kids loved it when a train passed and a bunny passed by. How can one ever say anything bad about an ice cream shop? I'm not about to start now. Cranberry Junction is an interestingly located, local ice cream shop in Hackensack sitting (literally) right next to the NJ transit train tracks. If lucky, which you should be if you're slowly enjoying your delicious ice cream on a sweltering day, you'll get to witness an NJ transit train pass by within inches of you behind the shop, right next to the picnic tables outside. Let's just say the kids love it. As for the shop itself, the parking lot is spread across outside of the shop and when you arrive, you'll immediately find yourself in possibly one of the tightest spaces you've ever been in to get some ice cream. For those with a tight waistline, you'll be fine, but, for those like me, suck in those guts if you want to get around inside. Although the shop is somewhat long length-wise, it can barely fit 2 people across width-wise - as was the case when we showed up. Fortunately, we got super lucky and showed up around 6:45pm on the Sunday evening of Father's Day when there was yet to be a line. 10 minutes later though it was a much different story at 15 DEEP waiting to get in. YIKES. There are 2 menus on the wall - one for the ice cream flavors and toppings and the other for the different cone/cup sizes/smoothies/shakes. There were a plethora of flavors to choose from, and not too many crazy ones, which is sometimes a good thing. Since the shop is so tight, they clearly state that there is a limit of only 2 samples per customer to keep the line moving. We probably could have sampled a good 5-8 flavors, but, due to the restriction, we ended up getting the Cookie Monster and Cherry Vanilla double scoop waffle cone. Can never go wrong with a waffle cone as the vessel. To say that my kids loved the ice cream would be an understatement, although when do kids ever say they don't like ice cream???? For us, solid, solid flavors. Didn't knock my socks off in any way or make me want to eat it until I popped a pants button, but this was some good, delicious, refreshing ice cream. Also, it helped that they had a large picnic table area outside, so we could enjoy the ice cream on a beautiful evening. And, for the kids, there's a large grassy area as well so they (or yourselves) can run around to lose some of the weight after devouring your order. Overall, good, solid ice cream. There were definitely some flavors (e.g., rum raisin, dulce del leche, banana walnut) I wanted to try that we didn't get a chance to, so will absolutely be back again some time and I don't think I have to ask my kids twice :) read more

Finally visited after passing by this place many times. Prices fair and probably on-par with most other ice cream places like this...maybe a bit higher. I thought the ice cream was good...not bad, not great...maybe 3/5. I did exect better given the prices. I was a bit disappointed in the icee...we were given once where the entire icee was the dark sugary part you tend to find on the bottom of icee bins. Noticed after leaving and didn't want to make the effort to return for an exchange. Given the price...I'd expect better. Staff was friendly. A bunch of picnic-benches on the outside and garbage bins. Such an adorable place! It's like it should be on a postcard or in a fairytale. I'm disappointed that we didn't stay and eat outside on the picnic benches. Next time i will do that for sure. I don't know why it took so long to finally try it! The ice cream is delicious and I'm even more excited because I have to watch my sugar and they have plenty of sugar free options. So far I tried the vanilla - which was good but the cherry vanilla.... Wow! It was so good - I can't wait to go back! I've driven by this place for years and today, I finally pulled into the parking lot (from the wrong direction). I first checked to see if they take Visa. They do. (I have made this mistake before.) Once inside, I saw a sign telling me that I could only get 2 samples. Although the selection wasn't like B&R, it was robust. There are vegan options ( I wasn't interested, so I didn't look), but it was interesting enough that I asked for a sample of Dulce du Leche, knowing that I would probably go with my fallback favorite Mint Chocolate Chip. But I didn't. The sample was creamy and the consistency didn't numb my tastebuds with the overkill of ice cream that has been waiting in the freezer for its moment in the display case. I ordered a cone. (I am not a cup kind of woman.) I couldn't wait to taste it before I paid, but managed. Since the only seating is outdoors, I ran to an empty bench before my divine treat melted. Once I sat down, I began to lick. The consistency was quality: I didn't have to start biting prematurely because it was going to drool down the cone. Nope! It was just my pace. And so creamy and dreamy. No bites in sight. Just a delightful, happy, casual ice cream cone eating experience-as it should be. I should mention that it was 85° and I left my sunglasses in the car. I didn't feel like the experience ended too soon because it was melting all over my hand. If it had...oh well. I can't wait to go back. It's the pink station off Main Street (Temple is the exit) and the nicest guy is there to help you out. She has a great personality that really sold the whole place, I would give them a 6/5 if I could. The ice cream alone is absolutely perfect as well. They make homemade ice cream here and we tried the fall sundae and created our own sundae. Being honest, way too much for both of us but we were so happy afterwards. [DURING COVID REVIEW] Delicious homemade ice cream with a large selection of unique flavors! I've been to cranberry junction two times and have been able to try a bunch of different flavors. The place itself is a really cute spot (a bit confusing to get to) but once you find it it's a really cozy spot. It's by itself in a park-like area and they have nice picnic tables on the outside to enjoy the ice cream on. The building itself is a bit small and only can fit a few people at a time. I've only been at night so there was no one around but I would imagine with COVID going on they would only allow one party in at a time. The ice cream itself is really good and it's a great spot with lots of different flavors to try. I'm not sure if they are allowing sampling of flavors but I didn't ask which is my bad. But I'm not mad at it because it gives me an excuse to come back for more. They also have a stamp card program where "if you buy 9 ice creams you get the 10th free". Not sure if they only give it for scoops because the first time I went we got a quart and were not given on of these stamps cards. Overall this is a great ice cream place with a large selection of flavors. I haven't found a flavor that was amazing enough for 5 stars but still great ice cream and I will for sure be back for more. read more

Cake batter which is my all time favorite, chocolate fudge brownie, Nutella chocolate and blue raspberry. The blue raspberry is a new flavor and is so good. Very creamy. The pint was $15. Definitely worth it for 4 flavors. The owner is super nice. They have a points system. As well as a punch card, which i always forget to bring. Some of the best homemade ice cream I have had. They have an awesome selection of flavors and everything has great flavor. Just fantastic.

I witnessed some brazen lack of hygiene during my most recent visit around 6PM on June 8th, 2025. Upon pulling into the parking lot, I saw the workers with latex gloves on bringing up tubs of ice cream from the basement into the store. The issue is that the same gloves were on while they were serving customers. I had ordered a quart and noticed that the associated tending to my order was scooping and then removing the ice cream from the scooper with their other hand (soiled latex glove). Then, their elbow went into the quart container and knocked it off the counter onto the ground. The associate then placed the fallen container off to the side for what I presumed to be discarded items. The associate then 'faked' a scoop of ice cream into a new quart container. After that 'faked' scoop, the associate then retrieved the quart that had fallen to the floor and began to fill it up as if I was not even there. Upon seeing that, I left and wondered how many times a day this happens at Cranberry Junction. Stomachs beware. The lackadaisical approach to cleanliness and hygiene felt criminal. I can no longer recommend this place. Ice cream lovers beware. Francy's is much cleaner and has better ice cream, IMO. I hope this spares just one person a stomach ache. read more

I didn't know who to speak to, and it was hard to make sure they got out order right since I didn't know who was actually preparing it. I found this place last year. It's open all year around and the ice cream is very good. I have only been here twice (to go orders) but both time I had pleasant experiences. The service was good, the ice cream flavor options were plenty, and the overall quality/taste delicious! Homemade cute little. The shop it's self is small but the parking lot is big and they have a lot of outdoor seating. No indoor seating. I will definitely be coming back and will recommend this place?
