This is an old school 1950's style DQ. Such nostalgia! I was half expecting to see Richie & the Fonz hanging out while Popsie asked for my order. No I'm not that old, but I envision a retro photo shoot at the location. I stopped for my favorite blizzard, Summer Berry Cheesecake, only to be told that was LAST SUMMER'S FLAVOR. I was disappointed, but I got the strawberry cheesecake blizzard instead. It was meh! I didn't even finish it I should've got the raspberry fudge! I started to change my mind but I didn't want to be a bother. Oh..AND THEY DIDN'T TURN MY BLIZZARD UPSIDE DOWN BEFORE THEY HANDED IT TO ME. This Dairy Queen is two things. 1. Not closed. 2. Poorly ran. I'm struggling to get over a Dairy Queen having an "order" and a "pick up" line. Ice cream is very fast to make, so instead of people waiting in one long line, they wait in two. Now like most people I have been to many different Dairy Queen locations and this is the first time I've experienced this strange set up. The ice cream itself was a typical for a Dairy Queen and that's just what I was craving tonight. I ordered a vanilla cone with chocolate sprinkles (Kept it simple) and enjoyed every lick. Today is the annual free vanilla cone day at DQ. I do not know why there is no option for a chocolate cone, but there is not....not for free. This DQ was quite busy at 3 p.m.. They posted a sign that sprinkles or dipping is $1.00 extra and all proceeds will go to Children's Hospital. I did not see any tipping or offering of a buck or two for the charity, but hope that some were forthcoming. A DQ vanilla cone is okay, especially because they do not offer sugar cones. Their standard cone is rather dry, but a free ice cream cone to celebrate the beginning of Spring is always a good thing. P.S. This DQ is open until 9 P.M., so plenty of time to get there. Ice cream again!!! (That makes 2 days in a row lol) Dairy Queen is a classic place to come for soft serve ice cream, smoothies, banana split and of course the famous Blizzard. There are many other options as well. I do love the ice cream here but I don't like the prices. I ordered 2 small vanilla comes with sprinkles, 1 small chocolate with sprinkles, medium twist with sprinkles, and 1 small cheesecake blizzard. All of that = a little over $16! When did ice cream become so expensive? On top of the price I'm not feeling the seating either, most Dairy Queens around are walk up service with few benches. This one only had 3 on each side of the building . Doesn't really work when it's peak ice cream time and the line is to the street. I miss DQ Grill and Chill. I'm not a fan of sitting in the car with my ice cream. read more

Tonight I ordered the same blizzard and they gave me one with vanilla ice cream instead of chocolate (how it was made previously) I asked if they could remake it and they told me no I'd have to order another one. I took my small 5yr old son to this Dairy Queen, for his "First DQ" experience- the nostaligia wore off as soon as we approached the window to order, unfortunately. we were greeted by Holly. She was disengaged as she took our family order. Holly became dismissive and rude as I politely requested more Oreo in the Blizzard that I ordered. I offered to pay for the additional Oreo, where she rolled her eyes as a response. She slammed my re-make on the counter and walked away without a response. With her back turned I kindly asked for her name. Instead of providing her name, she asked why I wanted it. I stated that I would like to make a review about the experience that I had, tonight. She defensively asked what was negative about the service that she provided, I responded "What makes you think that the service that you provided was negative?" Holly made a sweet moment for my son and I sour. Management did not address her aggressive nature, and my family and I were all left to feel off about the evening. We all have off nights, but there is no excuse to take it out on local community members. We are Amherst resident's and I have such fond memories of this particular location from my personal childhood, which is the only reason that we will try this location again. Went to DQ on Sunday, at 9 p.m., did not leave until 9:18 p.m. The line was not that long. We ordered two blizzards, in the first line. And then we waited in the second line, where they make the ice cream and you pick it up, FOREVER! What's the point of the pick up line? Why don't you go back to the old ways of having two lines and taking care of two people at once. That was quicker. This method blows, of having to stand in 2 lines, and I won't be back. read more

I always go to this DQ when visiting my friend when a craving for a sweet treat hits us. Nothing fancy at this location. Ample parking that flanks both sides of the building and a couple of benches. My friend is partial to banana splits, while I go with whatever looks good that day. Confession- I'm not much of a sweets person but I have a soft spot for soft serve. My choice was a small salted carmel blizzard. My fave combo, salty and sweet! The little mini rolo type mix ins were plentiful and the crunchy heath bar crunchies were awesome! It can get pretty busy here on those hot summer day and nights, but it just makes the sweet treat that much more rewarding ! read more

You ever just want to say f* it. "I want to spend excess amount of money on ice cream" you are going to the right place! No it's not the same stuff you can buy down the street at tops! As always, long lines, not too long for a late Thursday...but sub par customer service. It's Dairy Queen ice cream so it all tastes pretty much the same. We didn't get our blizzards served upside down as advertised. And if it's not served upside down, you're supposed to get your next blizzard free. Though when I attempted to ask the girl about it she handed us our order rushed and shooed us away. Apparently you can't take 5 seconds before walking away from the pick up window as I literally was in the middle of starting a sentence. So wasn't too pleased with them. Overall I got the brownie cookie dough flavor... my blizzard was just ok, not mixed well. It was mostly ice cream on the top, the mixes on the bottom. I just came from this Dairy Queen and got accused of stealing a child ice cream cone, the women behind the counter stated that I took the wrong size ice cream cone. I stated I ordered a medium twist with rainbow sprinkle my same order every time. Then she did not believe attempted to get hostile with me and raise her voice stating that the cashier charged me for something else. But how I would I know that she did not correctly charge me ,I was never given a receipt. This is the location my family most frequently visits. That will be my last time giving them my money. When I came here I was greeted by friendly staff who gently redirected me into the proper line to order. There was no one in line anyway, and so the staff was super nice about it. Now it seems a little benevolent giving them a four star review because the customer service was atrocious but I love ice cream so much that actually i am letting it impact my review. I like the fact that its an outside Dairy Queen. When you pull into the parking lot your met with A crowd of people feigning for ice cream like an addict waiting for his fix. people push and scrounge in to this little space to form two obscured lines in the "place your order line"and In your "pick up order line" which I find less then convenient. Then you wait 15 minutes to place an order for two medium blizzards which should only take 2 minutes to make but we're forced to wait in another line for another 15 minutes to receive are prized ice cream blizzard made famous by DQ. So when you finally get to pick up your ice cream your met with a rude teenager that just drops them on be table right side up mind you which according to the commercial we are supposed to receive are next blizzard for free if there not served upside down but the customer service agent was so rude that she literally said next so instead of holding up the line of people behind us we just left with are ice cream now the only reason I'm giving this three starts is because the blizzard was perfect it was creamy and the cookie dough chunks were not to big and they seemed to melt in my mouth. Over all if you can wait an extra 12 minutes for your ice cream go to the on transit rd so you can get a great ice cream experience and not a horrible one. Oh and to that teenager c'mon who says next this isn't a ticket station we were picking up our ice cream and we want to be met with a smile if you hate your job quit! read more
