Recently, a colleague at my place of work suggested going to this same restaurant, because as a Mexican American, she missed going to eat good Mexican food. I did not share my prior experience, hoping that perhaps it would be a one time event. Importantly, I informed the waitress to tell the chef to not place much salt on my food. Unfortunately, upon receiving both of our dishes we both agreed the food was over salted. Even the damn salsa they provide is over salted! Moreover, my colleague requested shredded meat in her tacos, which was not what was served. Ultimately, my colleague agreed that it is not a place worth going to. Once again, I want to support local immigrant owned businesses, but will not support this one any longer. I honestly don't know how others can provide positive ratings for this restaurant. Unless everyone is yearning to eat food following a 27-mile run and are craving salt due to electrolyte loss, then perhaps this is your spot. Otherwise, if you want to accelerate your journey toward a heart attack with food that is soulless head on over to Taqueria Los Mayas. Despite this negative review, we both left a 20% tip as we are aware that poor food is not a reflection on other employees. Recently, some family and I wanted to meet up for a casual dinner and catch up on life and agreed Lloyd Taco Factory in Williamsville was a good spot to do that. I admit, I had a hankering for a "Dirty South Burrito" so I was more than good with that decision. All-in-all, this experience was a little better. I pulled into their parking lot a little after 5:30pm on a Thursday and easily grabbed a parking spot. Walking in, I saw my family already grabbed a couple stools at the bar. As soon as I sat down, a gentleman behind the bar poured me a glass of water and handed me drink and food menus. My family already ordered at the kiosk, so I quickly placed my order with the same gentleman at the bar. The bar staff were pleasant and friendly. The bar staff brought my dinner to me along with plastic cutlery and napkins, a nice touch and greatly appreciated! They did a nice job checking on us throughout the evening, making sure our water glasses were full. For dinner, I went with my favorites: the Dirty South Burrito and the Cortez Salad with no protein. The size of the Dirty South Burrito was more in-line with what I expect and the Cortez Salad was served in a larger container than what I received the last time and it was mixed/tossed with plenty of their Ceasar dressing. The Dirty South Burrito tasted fine, it had most of the fillings I expected but I'm pretty sure it wasn't made with their buttermilk fried chicken. A few bites in, looking at the chicken, the look and texture were... off. It didn't look like fried chicken, more like lightly grilled chicken that could've used a bit more time on the grill since it looked fairly pink. I'm pretty sure they made it with grilled chicken thigh, which their current bi-weekly Burrito/El Camino/Taco special, "Los Pollos Hermanos", is made with. I suspect this as when I looked at their online ordering menu earlier in the day, the Dirty South Burrito was missing from the menu. I wish the staff would've said something about having to substitute the fried chicken with chicken thigh or blanked it out on the menu in the shop, especially if they removed it from their online ordering menu. I would've ordered their Big Lloyd Burrito instead if they had let me know they couldn't make the Dirty South Burrito. I need to add that the chicken was cooked as I didn't get sick or anything like that, but, I if they're going to use chicken thigh, a little longer time on the grill wouldn't be bad. The Cortez Salad was very good! I really appreciated them tossing all the ingredients and dressing together. I was comfortably satiated with my dinner but I have to admit, later in the night, I was hungry again... Maybe I should've grabbed a couple churros to seal the deal. The portions were reasonable, better than my last experience, but this reinforces my theory that dine-in sizes are larger compared to take-out... My meal came to a little over $20, but I was surprised when they told me I had $10 in rewards - A pleasant surprise! Lloyd Taco Factory in Williamsville is a cool spot, and I enjoy grabbing dinner at the bar with family and friends occasionally. To me though, this location has slipped a bit. The food quality is pretty good, but the portions have been trending smaller over the past couple years, in my opinion. Compared to when I first came here in 2017/2018, their burritos were HUGE, a meal and then some! It also feels a little less friendly, warm unless you sit at the bar and familiarize yourself with the bar staff. I know I'll be back again but I'm in no rush. I'd like to check out their Hertel Ave. or Elmwood Ave. locations and compare their version of the Dirty South Burrito.
