The service has gone downhill. We were pretty much the only ones here, except two other couples at the bar. They gave us the menu and it took them 20 minutes to come back and take our order. Very good Mexican food! Not my first time here, but first time getting El Trio. Highly recommend as appetizer for 2 to 4 people, or as lunch or dinner for 1... or 2. There were 3 of us. I didn't get a pic of Ron's Huevos Rancheros, but the Chile Verde and the Enchiladas Tapatias were more photogenic. Our server, Palmira, was excellent, always pleasant and gracious. I have to update my review from a few years ago. When we discovered this place near us we were super happy with the prices and ambiance...service was hit and miss. The food was good for the price...that isn't the case anymore. They literally have a seafood soup for $40 a portion...what?? Mexican food is supposed to be humble. An Al pastor torta that used to cost $9 as recently as May of 2025 is now $16. No thanks, it's just not worth that price is all. In less than a year (since May 2025 when we last ordered) they've suddenly nearly doubled their prices for almost every item. If the food had been incredible, I'd be ok paying more...but it isn't. We might still take advantage of their happy hour for drinks...but the food definitely isn't worth it anymore, especially considering the inconsistencies. read more

We decided to order some takeout on a Saturday night. This place is located right downtown, and since it was Halloween weekend, the area was lively. I appreciated how calm and clean the restaurant itself was, and the staff was generally attentive. The World Series was on TV, so that was entertaining to watch while I waited for my order. Unfortunately, the food was very bland. The meat in my taco was essentially plain ground beef pan-cooked with no spices. As you move farther north from Mexico, the cuisine tends to become less authentic and more subdued to suit local taste buds, but this felt like an extreme case. I might have had a better experience dining in and using their toppings bar (assuming they have one), but as a takeout meal, this was highly disappointing. We came here one night for dinner since we had to go downtown for something, Matt usually goes with his coworkers to get their burrito which he usually really likes. It wasn't the best burrito this night, my chicken fajitas were pretty good though! One thing I will say is the chips were not salted enough, I had to put the table salt on them and it was still kind of bland. Went for a quick bit on Cinco de Mayo with friends . It was super packed (as sto be expected) they had a DJ out side which added a nice touch. The line was out the door to sit. There was no host to control or update the line. So my friends went in to ask how long and good thing because there was a party of 8 in front waitnt but they had o0ne tables for smaller parties. So after about 15min in line we were able to get seated right away . Our server was great and as attentive as she could be with it being so crowded. Once we ordered we got things in a good amount of time. We ordered tacos , and there rice and beans. And a couple margaritas to celebrate the day . The food was very basic. I was expecting a lot more flavor. You have to pay extra for sour cream , cheese and of you perfere flour shell is amazing extra $1. With out it the tacos would be super plain. They do have a complimentary topping bar. Where you can add all your favorite toppings and salas. The rice was really dry . The drinks were great . This is continuously a good place to visit. The service is nice and friendly. The complimentary chips and salsa are delicious. Thank you :). My tacos came out with the tortillas too floppy. However, the flavor was there and I enjoyed the food. I'm not sure how authentic the Al Pastor taco is served, but I prefer seeing a chunkier pineapple. The birria tacos were a completely new experience for both of us. It was a rich, beefy meal. Great, if you're craving some serious eats :). A few bites was enough to have some idea what a birria taco actually is. I would order it again at a different place for comparison. On weekends, they serve menudo soup. I'm sure this isn't the best Mexican restaurant in Buffalo. Still, for my needs when I'm in the area and feel like having Mexican food, this is a comfortable place to grab a bite. I've loved eating here since before COVID, when they only had their location on Niagara St. Unfortunately, their tacos have just gotten SO expensive. My party of 4 got to the restaurant around 5:15 PM on a Thursday . It was very empty - just a few patrons at the bar. We were given menus right away and our waiter took our drink order a few minutes later. It was happy hour for the margaritas so that was great! The jalapeño margarita was very tasty, with a slight zing at the end. The waiter was pretty busy even though there was nobody else in the restaurant, so it took a little while for him to take our order for food. All of the food was very good. The food is fresh - I feel like they make up a fresh batch of salsa about 100 times a day and don't hesitate to order guacamole; it is most definitely fresh made. Immediately a drink order was taken and warm homemade tortilla chips and flavorful salsa was plunked down for us to enjoy. We had a frozen and a classic Margarita. Very good. We ordered the Choripollo and the Carne Asada Parrilladas. The Carne Asada came with a side dish of guac, chunks of an interesting flavor cheese and lettuce and warm floyr tortillas. The single worst dining experience of my life and this was my 30th birthday celebration to make matters worse. I had a party of 8 that I called to make reservations for the patio on Sunday for Labor Day on Monday. When we arrived they told us that the patio was full of bees and most people come back inside anyways. So, they put us in the way back corner of the restaurant. We had an older female server who did not speak ANY English at all. Immediately upon the first drink order she did not understand what my friend was trying to order, a margarita with the top shelf liquor they offer. This drink order literally took five minutes alone, of her and him going back and forth, back and forth, I was SO embarrassed and it was SO awkward for all of us. There were eight people at this table. So, the drink orders literally took 15 minutes. We didn't get any of our drinks for an hour including water. She never gave us any water in the meantime and there were two bowls of chips and salsa for eight people for one hour. She never asked if we wanted any appetizers either. Upon taking our food order, it was actually worse because she didn't understand what any of us were ordering although every order was from their menu. Even when we were pointing to the menu. I thought I should dumb down my order to tacos, but since it was my birthday, I pointed to the Enchiladas Supremes and asked if I could get them all beef and literally held up my fingers for four and said beef about 10 times and no sour cream. All of our food came out without her ever coming back to our table to ask for more drink orders or give us water even, and we never got any more chips either - an hour later. We were at the restaurant for over two hours. My order came out wrong as expected. It was the chicken, beef, bean, cheese with sour cream. My boyfriend ordered TWO ground beef tacos (which they serve a shell and meat and make you get your own toppings) and his food was the LAST to come out. That's insane! I told her the order was wrong, she literally walked into the kitchen without ever saying anything like I'm sorry or what was wrong with it? and came back with the exact same plate! All of my friends were shocked. She didn't understand a word any of us said. This entire experience was so cringey, embarrassing, awkward, horrible service, horrible atmosphere, and horrible food. The bill was over $270 that we had to put on one check with 18% gratuity! The worst service I have ever had! We would've had a better meal at Taco Bell! If the management wants to make this right with me, I want our money back because this was the worst dining experience of our lives and I'll never stop telling everyone about it until it is made kosher. To be clear - every single Mexican restaurant I've ever been to understands my order of the Enchiladas Supremes all beef, no sour cream. And I actually had to get up and ask another server if we could have our server come back and take our drink orders. He took my drink order so it could come to the table. All the tables around us ate and left before we got our drinks. My friend was charged for sour cream and she never got it. We went to Casa Azul after and actually on the walk over, I threw up in my mouth from the acid in their frozen margarita mix. I didn't end up eating the majority of my birthday lunch and the beef was actually the grossest one, as it was burnt to a crisp and hard. Everyone texted me how horrible they felt afterwards. Literally wish I had a time machine and I would've waited until La Fiesta Cantina on Allen was open another day. Also - there is no parking lot at the restaurant, we parked and my friends told me I had to move my car so my boyfriend moved it for me. As we left, we were swarmed by bees trying to take pictures outside. I wish I had known how terrible this experience would have been beforehand and that they were never going to sit us on the patio to begin with because that is what I wanted to sit outside for Labor Day. read more

I wanted to know if this would live up to the same expectations as the one on Niagara Street and I'm happy to announce that it does. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. There was only 2 of us so we decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and we made it just in time for the happy hour special, $2.99 house margaritas. Usually machine margaritas are bland to me but these actually packed a punch . I got mine on the rocks while my friend got hers frozen. Tasty both ways. I also got tequila pineapples for the remainder of the night. When we sat down we automatically got free chips and salsa. I also ordered the chori queso. I liked that the queso was balanced and not super salty. I've gone to places where as soon as there's chorizo involved, all you taste is salt (no bueno). Once we ordered our food our meals came out relatively quick on huge hot plates. My friend ordered the Chimichangas Locas and I got the Choripollo. We definitely had enough for lunch the next day. Luckily the bartender asked if we needed boxes, or else we would have kept stuffing our faces and they would have had to roll us out. It was just so good. While more people came in we noticed there was a spaced out seating area in the back. While at the bar there were dividers and not the ones that only cover your food. We noticed they also had a salsa bar with hot, medium, and mild sauce along with a few other fixins. We already agreed that we would come here again and I'm excited to try other things on the menu. The prices are reasonable and I know I will get enough food for at least 2 days so it is well worth it. For there to only be 2 staff members things seemed to flow very smoothly. And they were great at cleaning in between customers. They even provided hand sanitizer around the bar. If you haven't been here yet, check it out. I recommend going in person. Moved from Southern California a month ago so I've been trying to find some good Mexican food, which I figured would be impossible. I ordered a California burrito for take out and it did NOT remind me of home. The rice was undercooked and a bit too hard for my liking. The meat had zero flavor and was really dry/tough. The beans were ok, not the greatest. The green sauce was way too pungent and vinegary. It made everything taste like sour pickles. The only reason I gave this place two stars was because of the portion. For $15 the portion was HUGE and for sure will feed me, a broke college student, for a good 2-3 meals. Would I come back? The first thing that hits you when you walk in are the smells. Taquerias have a certain smell when they are doing it right and this place is. You get a hint of fresh fried tortilla chips. We went late in the afternoon on a Sunday and were seated right away. The menu is extensive and so is the drink menu. My partner started with the tequila flight and I got the michelada. It was excellent. Who needs a bloody Mary when you can have a Michelada? We shared the Holy Guacamole and let me tell you that I haven't had guacamole that good in a long time. This is a must get every time. It may seem pricey at $10.99 but is worth every penny. There was so much there we thought we wouldn't come close to finishing but we wound up eating 3/4 of it. My main was the Steak Nachos upgraded to supreme. They were awesome. The steak was great. The chips were fresh. Instead of sour cream they were using delicious crema and topped it with more guacamole. Needless to say there was nothing left to take home. We really liked this place - its definitely different from the last time we ate here when it was Greystone. Dilexi was our server and she was very nice. We started with the Tamales which were interesting. You get chips and salsa to start which was good. We ordered the fresh guacamole dip which was decent. We then ordered the Old School Chimichangas which were amazing and so delicious. The only issue I had was that I had asked for more chips for the Guacamole dip which didn't come with chips, which was weird and was told it was a upcharge of $2.50 for more. Service was good and the restaurant was cute, though cramped. The menu is huge and they've got a good selection of entrees, apps, and drinks. We started with chips, salsa, and guac, and while I don't eat guacamole, I heard it was delicious! I opted for a trio of tacos -- two pollo and one molida. They were delicious and more authentic than you usually get at some of the Mexican joints around here. The portion size is great as well, I felt full after only two tacos! They also have a toppings bar that you can visit to dress your tacos however you please! Everything my coworkers got looked excellent as well, especially the chicken fajitas and birria. We both ordered the choripollo dinner for $15 each and received what would MAYBE pass as an appetizer with a tablespoon of rice. We were very disappointed and left feeling hungry. The steak burrito fajita was very filling and the steak was cooked well, the Elpaso chicken burrito was covered in a tangy red sauce with cheese melted on top the Carnitas were tender, and chips and salsa topped the whole meal off.
