The chips and salsa that they bring to the table automatically are excellent. Thicker chips than most places. Fresh, too. Although the salsa has cilantro, which I personally despise, I can't argue with the balance of the ingredients which everyone at the table loved. The menu is deep, the service is a bit slow, and the prices are fair. They have a full bar and a great assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Their food wasn't as good as the last time we were here. The server wasn't very attentive and it took awhile for our food to come out. The three meats in my fajita were all dried out and tuff. The green peppers and onions could have been cooked more. My wife didn't like her soup or her chicken taco salad The interior is neat and clean and they do have outdoor seating. read more

I've been a loyal customer for over 10 years, since the old location -- but after this last visit, I'm done. The service was embarrassingly slow despite the place being practically empty, with only two people working. We specifically told the waitress we wanted our appetizers out first. Guess what? They never came -- until *after* our entrees showed up. Completely pointless. We filled up on chips and dip while waiting forever. And to top it off, it took way too long just to pay and get out of there. Absolutely ridiculous. You've clearly stopped caring about your customers, and you've officially lost my business. We walked in at about 4-ish pm, with just a few diners within, Quickly seated, we watched TV4 WIVB on the corner wall-mounted TV. Wife ordered Tostadas Azteca which came out as two highly-piled flat tacos. I usually order a chicken dish but decided for a change, and ordered instead the filete de Pescado (catfish) y Camaron (shrimp) accompanied with the usual rice and beans and a small salad. It comes out piping hot and the plate is HOT too, so be careful handling it. My wife loved her items and actually ate it all - historic moment! Mine was tasty and good and it also disappeared quickly. We ordered a dark beer in a short draft glass of dos xx amber, which was good. The food took about 15mins to be served as more diners entered in small crowds in an almost continuous line through the front door. By time we departed at about 6pm there was a waiting line at the door, plus the parking lot was almost filled! What an hour difference in arrival makes when dining out! If you are active duty or a veteran with ID, they continue giving a military discount. My wife means it when she says she loves this place that is quite close to home! read more

First visit in what feels like a long time. An outstanding experience from start to finish. We had to wait only a minute or two to be seated. Warm chips and salsa were delivered quickly after we sat down and drink orders were taken (we were there for dinner). The food came out in a reasonable length of time and it was very hot (including the plates). I had vegetable fajitas and the hubs had some sort of shrimp in a sauce with rice, beans, and tortillas on the side. I actually cleaned my plate (I was starving) and the hubs took leftovers home. The check was brought promptly when we said we didn't want anything else (this is often a service breakdown at other places). A great experience. read more

It's been two years since my last review and a pandemic later and I stand by my previous statement. This place is great. Maybe not the fastest but who rushes a nice Mexican meal? First off, the unlimited chips and homemade salsa pairs wonderfully with a cold Pacifico or Modelo or heck... even a margarita! My goto is the Enchilada Supreme with a side of rice. January 9, 2025 Been a customer of this restaurant since they were located on Niagara Falls Blvd. Always had good service and good food but tonight things have changed. The restaurant was very busy and they seated us at a table in the back of the restaurant. We understood that we would have to wait a while but no one bothered to wait on us. The servers were taking care of customers around us but not us. I had to ask a server to order. She took our drink order but said that another server would take care of us. No one came over. When our drinks came, she took our food order but said another server would take care of us. No one ever checked to see if our order was correct if we needed anything. My husband's order wasn't right. I had to get up from my seat to tell someone. I asked for napkins 3 times, having to stop a server to get her attention. Even after all this, we still didn't know who our server was. I am a paying customer and should not be treated like this. If they would have at least stopped by our table to see if we needed anything, I could have tolerated the wait. I am giving this restaurant the kiss of death. read more

Honestly the food is just ok, but it didn't taste like anything I am use to. I understand that I ordered take out, so I have no issue with soft taco shells or burrito shells being soggy. My issue with the these shells was this, they didn't seem to be cook at all. All the places I have had chimichangas, and tacos from. Have always cooked their, corn taco shells to a nice crispy state. I also didn't care for the quesadilla, it was prepared like a regular taco. There was no onions, or peppers, and they didnt use a mix of cheddar cheeses. They use queso cheese, and I am not a fan of this type of cheese. I did though, enjoy their chips and salsa. I used the salsa, to add some flavor to the steak tacos. I personally wouldn't be coming back, but again I have to mention. The food is ok, but not as great as other places I have been to. read more

Review for new location off Niagara Falls Blvd. stopped by on a Saturday night right after Christmas. Restaurant was extremely busy and was quoted at a 40 min wait. Wait ended up being 95 minutes. Service was poor throughout night including the bartender. Everyone was friendly but they just seemed overwhelmed. Only two big tables for larger sized families so be prepared to wait. Parking lot is extremely limited also. Food was typical Mexican food menu. I enjoyed my burritos Mexicanos, Wife got enchilada mix and said they were below average, especially the cheese ones. Rest of table had so so reviews with their burritos and fajitas. Prob will stick to other Mexican places in the area. read more

This Mexican restaurant is decent. Food is a bit pricey but tastes good. I've gone a couple times and both times we were seated relatively quick considering how busy it was. The service is VERY slow. Not sure if this is a staffing issue or we were low on the priority list. The staff are friendly but they need some help. I'm really surprised to give this place a mediocre review. I had heard about it so many times from people at work that it would be the best in the area. So we made the trek out to Niagara Falls, and I was really underwhelmed. The Carnitas were greasy and not flavorful at all. Chips and salsa were tasty and what I would expect anywhere. My friend had El Pollo Asada, she said it was bland too. There's nothing extremely poor to report, but for the time it took to drive out there, there are way better places near me and Cheektowaga, Amherst, and Buffalo. This place just isn't consistent with cooking. The food never tastes the same. I'm not sure if it's the cook that they have, but we will not go back again. The service was very slow as well. Yum yum yum. If you don't live in Niagara Falls, NY, this may be a bit of a hike for you, but it's totally worth it. At most sit-down Mexican restaurants, there's complimentary chips and salsa, but they have THE BEST salsa around. Be sure to order the queso as well because it's made to perfection every time. My go to meal is the Chicken Chimichanga and it never disappoints. In case you're a vegetarian, they have a ton of options for you to chose from as well, so you don't have to worry about not having a great meal. All of the servers are so much fun and really seem like they enjoy coming to work everyday. It takes about a half hour to get here from where I live and it is worth every minute. read more

This place used to be a favorite of mine, however they have continued to raise their prices while their food has progressively gotten worse. Their service has never been good, but I can deal with that when the food is good. I ordered a Burrito Ranchero meal yesterday and was extremely underwhelmed. Okay where do I begin I had been craving for the Mojarra Frita, which is a whole fried tilapia we were seated right away and it took a minute for someone to come to our table to bring the tortillas and the salsa and then someone finally came to see if we wanted anything to drink mind you they were not busy so my son and I ordered two of the fish dinners and a pina colada and a lemonade it takes about 30 to 35 minutes for the fish to be prepared because it is fried frozen during that time no one came back to the table to check on us to see if we needed anything and finally we saw a waiter at the table across from us and asked him if he would find our waiter and the nice thing about that was that he asked if there was anything that he could do and I told him thank you but I see that you are busy, well our dinner finally came after my son went up there to check on it and I did notice a few different things my rice was cold there was no avocado on the salad and they forgot to bring the tortillas and when they did finally bring the tortillas they were also cold then once again we had to look for our waiter because we wanted a refill on our drinks I was very very disappointed in the service you can at least if you are not busy check on your customers to see if they need anything else so needless to say it will be a long time before my return to this restaurant because of the poor inconsistent service we received and the meal was not good like it had been in the past read more

Niagara Falls has some amazing Mexican food with some stellar margaritas! At least at this gem!! I had the taco loco and my partner had the carnitas. The refried beans were seasoned to perfection. We were in on a Monday, so we got the little margarita for free by purchasing the big one. Made with lime juice and not all that nasty too-sweet mixer. We decided to stop here for dinner because we like Mexican food and this place is usually always busy. We figured the food had to be good. The restaurant was clean. It smelled like chips the second you walk in. The service was extremely slow. So don't come here for a quick bite to eat. We waited five minutes for our drink order to be taken. Then about ten minutes for our food order to be taken. Then we waited almost an hour for our food to come to the table. We ordered drink refills that never came. The food wasn't great. First you start with chips and salsa. This is the first salsa ice ever had that I didn't like. Then i had chinchillas. The shell was burned, the chicken was bland, and there was almost no cheese sauce when i ordered extra. My husband had the carnitas with steak. He said they tasted average. My daughter had the nachos. The sauce was very liquid like. To be honest I'm not impressed and I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

After being here a 3rd time, the service is terrible and the prices don't reflect the quality of food or service. My daughter loves Mexican...especially cheese dip and she screamed after having it here. It's spicy, on the tongue spice...black pepper? No refill on my soda, chicken was tough. Mexican usually has a long wait time to seat and food is usually quick to come out. Not here...both are excruciating waits and it's not worth hitting your wallet that hard. El Cubilete is an AOK place for Americanized Mexican food. It will be satisfying, but during my visit I did not find the ingredients to be very high quality. I had a Chimichurri, or a deep fried burrito of sorts and the beef tasted OK. The flavor wasn't really there and I felt like I wasn't eating the most fresh thing. I got a giant burrito to go for my wife and while the burrito was fine, it was covered in mayo and got very soggy, so I am not sure it's a great to go item. Chips + salsa when you enter, ambiance is fine too. All in all - I had an OK meal here. Not itching to return, but will probably be back at some point and give it another chance with some other items. read more

Niagara Falls surprisingly has a lot of Mexican options and El Cubilete was the one to pick last weekend. Located on Niagara Falls Boulevard away from the tourist trap a few miles north, this place offers plenty of parking, plenty of seating, and all the Mexican classics you could expect from a place like this. We came here around 6PM and although the place had a decent number of people inside, they still had open tables and we were seated right away. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout our stay and that's really all you could ask for. I decided to give something new a try so I ordered the Chori Pollo which was a grilled chicken breast with cheese, rice, beans, and Mexican sausage....yes, on top of the chicken! Let me tell you, I wasn't in the mood for Mexican food but after eating some of that Mexican sausage i'm glad this is the place we ended up at. All of the food was really good and both the chicken and the sausage were stand outs for me. Another good thing about this place (I realize a ton of Mexican restaurants do this, but it's still a plus in my book) is that you get unlimited chips and salsa while you wait so you can get full before the food even comes. Overall, El Cubilete is an above average Mexican restaurant that offers great food, great service, and some delicious Mexican sausage that you absolutely need to try. Parking is easy, but if the lot is full they have signs saying where else you can park nearby. They open at 11 for lunch and we got there around 11:15. We were perhaps the 3 table seated. More came as we ate. I bet it was full by 12:30. And probably full by 5 evenings. They have booths and tables both. Interior and window. Large menu that does have some lunch only options. We had the chicken fajitas and huevos rancheros. Huge portions. The chicken was probably a little under-seasoned but the cut pieces were a perfect size and there were plenty of them. I loved the peppers and onions. There was also some guac (perhaps could have been a little more of this) and some sour cream on lettuce. Rice and beans made up the rest on the dish. Our waters appeared, very large glasses, quickly. Our food did as well. No pressure to eat fast though. Chips and salsa arrived quickly and I thought very good. Chips seemed to be made there.
