"J" and I have eaten at this one less often than the other and often forget it is there. Maybe it is the location. We have not had a bad or different meal there or bad experience that I can ever remember. The food is okay... It was harder to get in and out of traffic wise but has improved with the relatively new stoplight changes out in front of it on 59.

They must just stick whatever is in hand in a bag and gamble that people won't look, or won't cone inside and complain. I was traveling to Jefferson, TX from Houston on Friday, May 8, 2026. My grandmother had passed way the week before and I was coming home to lay her to rest. I was not in the best of spirits and had not been eating much. I skipped breakfast this morning and decided to do a late lunch at Chicken Express to boost my spirits. I stopped around 2:30pm. The line was about 4 cars deep. The person who took my order at the speaker was the typical Chicken Express friendly and made sure I got everything ordered correctly. Things changed when I pulled up the window. When I get there Christina opens the window and just stares at me. After about 5 seconds of us simply looking at one another, I finally say "Hello. How are you?" since she wasn't. She says "Hi. You total is..." I ask her if they have tap to pay. She says "no" flatly. I say "Oh ok." and had her my card to pay. She takes it and after the transaction hands it back. She gets the food and hands it to me. No here you, thank you, have a great day, nothing. No soft customer service skills at all. While I understand this is not standard anymore and a reflection of company values and standards, it truly disappointing. I emailed the location about the experience and apparently it is not worth a response. Definitely disappointing. Definitely feel this location is a major no go. Might as well go to Golden Chick next door. Same thing but better service.

Once we got back to our hotel room, we tried everything. The mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls were standard. The fried chicken, though, was easily the star of the show. The exterior was crunchy and the meat was juicy and moist. Plenty of flavor. For a family of three, we could not finish all of the food. This one now is much better! It is in a different location than the last....now in the Ornealas student center. More employees, larger menu, nicer location and an official look to the place. They have their own seating too. It can be a bit of a wait if you come at the wrong time.. The parking is far away and a good hike up a hill to get there.....probably a quarter of a mile. The food is Chick-Fil-A though and that quarter mile walk is a lot shorter than the drive to the one by Sam's in Longview!!! I don't think they honor any points or special offers though.

It's one thing to forget one item, it's another when THREE items were missing after being tipped $10 on a $60 total! My family and I were traveling and decided to stop by this Sonic. We had three combos, all with shakes, with 2 corn dogs, a large tater tots and 1 extra shake. When we were ordering, the lady on the other end kept getting the orders wrong and had us repeating multiple times on what we said. OK, understandable that perhaps the signal wasn't good. Then, the wait. It took us a while to get our food. A girl walked out with our four shakes first and told us that our food will be ready soon; we thanked her and tipped $10 on top of paying for the order. As we drank our shakes, the girl came out with two bags. In one bag, were the two combos, and the other bag had the sides. Frustratingly we didn't catch the missing corn dogs first, just one of the combos (burger) missing, so we informed them we were missing the burger. When they gave us our burger, we then realized we couldn't find the corn dogs. We went back to the front and showed them our receipt, to which a second lady walked out to reassess the situation. We could tell the first girl was feeling bad so we tried to not make a fuss, but truthfully after the 20+ minute wait, having our order read back wrong a few times and then 3 missing items, I wouldn't come back. You'd think once they got tipped $10 that would at least motivate someone in the team to check the receipt and ensure all items were ready. I'm extremely disappointed at this begrudgingly dull service.
