This Dairy Queen in Fletcher Place is more of a walk-up joint. I'm not even entirely sure you can go inside this Dairy Queen at all. This is a to-go place, for sure. I visited on a hot summer's day for one of Dairy Queen's classic Dilly Bars. That's a vanilla soft-serve ice cream bar covered in chocolate, cherry or butterscotch (I chose chocolate). I'm not really an ice cream person, but that Dilly Bar hit just right. There are some tables outside of Dairy Queen on the patio to sit at, if you're so inclined. This area has a lot of car traffic passing by, so you can enjoy your soft-served ice cream treat and look at the people drive by. read more

Located directly on Fletcher Avenue in the Fletcher Place neighborhood of Indy, this is a Dairy Queen Limited spot. It's mostly a walk-up location, however, they do have a drive-thru available in what is a very small parking lot. On the first decent day after several days of rain in Indy, you could tell that people were in the mood for their DQ. This location does have some outside tables so that you can stay present and enjoy either a meal or your soft-serve treat. There's no doubt that this location has seen better days, though I noticed they were actively painting the outside of the DQ and various aspects of the parking lot. So, they are sprucing it up. All I wanted was a chocolate shake. I went to the drive-thru - there was one vehicle ahead of me. I'm not sure what they ordered, however, it was a fairly lengthy wait. The employee was super friendly. The shake was good - I ordered a large and it was priced just over $6 with tax. They do carry food here - I think the limited likely refers more to the lack of a true dine-in option. The menu is probably a bit simpler than some DQ locations, however, there's solid options and the usual ice cream options. You can also order delivery via GrubHub, DoorDash, or UberEats. You can also order through the app. I did notice the website is a bit wonky. For example, it's currently 5pm and the website says they're closed and won't open until 11am. DQ accepts credit cards, has wifi, and is generally accessible with curb cuts to its location and an easy to navigate ordering window. The outside tables should accommodate a wheelchair fairly well. You can also get cakes here. DQ is a supporter of the Children's Miracle Network - and yes, it matters to me when a business is charity-minded. Other than being a bit slow, this was a fine experience. I certainly wouldn't call it 5-stars, however, I got friendly service, an enjoyable shake, and a fair price. That's a win for me. read more

I rarely give out 1 star reviews. It pains me to do it. But one of my biggest pet peeves is a business not being open during hours they're advertised as open. I pulled up at 9:01 under the assumption they closed at 10. I've been so excited for Dairy Queen to open back up for the season, and got even more excited to see the multiple OPEN signs turned on bright when I pulled up. But when I pulled up, I was told they were closed. I asked what time they closed, and they said 9pm. I was pretty bummed, especially only being 1 minute behind, and all the OPEN signs still being on. I've worked in food service and retail for many years before, and I simply would have taken the person's order. It's just good customer service. There was nobody behind me, so they didn't have to worry about setting a precedent. Overall, just really bummed! read more

The absolute barbaric level of greed that the owner of this establishment has makes it completely impossible to enjoy any item I buy from there. The price hike within the last few years is unacceptable. It was $4.80 for a medium blizzard two years ago and now it is $6.95. They have got to be out of their mind. This is a five star location for cream. The full DQ ice cream menu. They have all the classics and rotating seasonal blizzards. However, the food is three stars. Basically it's only hotdogs, chicken bites, and salads. I really wish they had more options for food. Overall it's four stars. This location is a short walk directly north of the fountain square IndyGo redline stop, it's a short bike ride north of the cultural trail, and it's got parking onsite. I love this classic Dairy Queen! It's the old classic style with a drive through and walk up window. Close walk from middle of fountain square. The summer blizzards are my favorite! Cotton candy is amazing if you're still a child inside (like me). Not much parking, but worth the walk! Located in Fountain Square, on the corner of Fletcher is this tiny DQ. They have a walk up windows and drive thru to place order. The staffing is a bit low so the wait time can be awhile. Since it is an outdoor seating space it is a bit messy but not as bad as some establishments I've visited. I ordered a chocolate dipped cone which was nice and cool to eat on a hot evening. It's less crowded in this area so if you need to get away from congested Fountain Square you should swing by. read more

I've never posted a one-star review for a business until tonight -- and tonight was one of the oddest experiences I've ever had. I arrived at this location around 10 till 9. Google (and Yelp!) say they close at 10. I pull up to the drive through line -- where there's one individual in front of me and at least two or three behind me. We sit for several minutes before a customer at a picnic bench yells out "They want you to go away... they told us they weren't serving you out here." Ok... So I pull into a parking spot, and approach the front counter where there are people waiting for orders. At that point I see that the front sign says they close at 9:00 pm - I'm not wildly ahead of that but I have a good five minutes on my side. When I step to the window, the person at the front indicates that she isn't allowed to take my order unless the manager approves it. Perplexed, I say ok. There are several moments of quiet before an individual comes to the far window and begins shouting that we need to go away. It's not just me -- there are multiple people in line and everyone is confused. Everyone was here before 9:00. And look, I worked in fast food jobs. I get that closing is a pain. But there's half a dozen people standing around. So I ask to a speak to the manager (I know, I know) and the woman at the far window says that she's the manager and she says that they close at 8:45. At which point, yes, I laugh. Because no restaurant closes at 15 minute increments. This seemingly annoys her, and she starts yelling through the window that she doesn't care how many people are standing there she's not serving us. I ask to speak to an a owner to better understand this closing policy and she says she's not allowed to give out more info and "good luck" contacting anyone. Look. I get it. Staffing shortages, etc. But update your hours online. Update your outdoor sign (to 8:45?). Have some flexibility and grace with your employees if it's an hours issue. Because this? Reminds me of getting a soft serve ice cream dipped cone with my Gramma. You order at a small window outside and there are a couple concrete tables to sit. We stopped for a quick snack and ordered Happy Hour specials which were offered from 2:00-5:00 M-F. We selected a chocolate frappe, pretzel sticks and stuffed potato skins. The pretzel sticks and skins came out piping hot. The frappe was a work of art topped with whipped cream. All delicious and hit the spot. I recommend a stop to fill those DQ cravings from your childhood! Where else can you get a $2 frappe with a great view of downtown Indy? read more

I know it's seems weird to review a Dairy Queen but seriously this is our most frequently visited place in the neighborhood. This is what I would consider a seasonal Dairy Queen! It's either a walk up order or the drive through no indoor seating or a restaurant to walk into; however, there's some outdoor tables and benches. If the weather is nice you can always expect a handle full of people. While it's Dairy Queen it feels like a neighbor hot spot. We should have known when they put a lid on it, they normally don't put lids on blizzards but they knew it was melting. There is also a sign on the window stating tips appreciated. We've been (trying) to come here for two years and 75% of the time either something is broken or they close the walk up window and only have the drive-through open. when the window is open, we've found that the employees are incredibly rude. Though it is the closest to our house, we would much rather support other ice cream stores in the area. read more

I think this is one of my most favorite DQ's in the city. It's a nostalgic walk-up, and they have a drive-thru. The menu is up to date with current day DQ products, and the quality and service has always been Grade A for me at this location. It sits right on the corner of Shelby and Fletcher, and it just gives off that old time neighborhood Dairy Queen vibe. Been living in the Square for a year, and I have to say I enjoy the Dairy Queen Stand. I have noticed they are building a drive-thru, but when you're like me and you live close it gives you a good excuse to lose some calories before eating ice cream. They are really fast and nice. You order at the window and slide over to the right to the pick up window to grab your purchase. Not the fastest place, so be patient. This location is very convenient being on the corner of a three-way intersection. While the drive-thru is rather small, it works for the size of the building. This Dairy Queen in Fountain Square has a nice retro feel to it do to its size and that it is take out only and has some outdoor seating with umbrellas. There is a poster in the window which states that it received an A+ score from the Marion County Health Department which means a perfect score and that the rather young employees are properly trained in the handling of food. I usually either get a vanilla soft serve ice cream cone or a Peanut Buster Parfait. DQ is summer to me. read more
