I don't expect much from Fast Food, but I do have a soft spot for places like Dairy Queen and Sonic because of their ice cream. I used to have to go to the Providence Place Mall for a Blizzard Fix, so the Cranston location's opening was exciting, at the time. I went once in June and once in September, and I'm hesitant to go back again. I ordered a Heath Bar Blizzard (my usual) and got a ten minute ticket time on one item. I prefaced this review with the fact that I don't hold Fast Food to the same expectations of sit down dining, but it was one ice cream item during off-peak hours, and ten minutes is both unusual and unideal. They never apologized for the wait. I found my blizzard to be on the grainier side, as if ice crystals sat and grew in their churn. Another setback. The whole experience (mind you, this has happened twice now) is unfortunate. Not a great image. read more

I was disappointed my first time pre-ordering then picking up at the window, the fries are cold and never received the dips I ordered, so last week decided to go in and ordered and it took 5min. to cook 6 chicken tenders, double hamburger and fries, when they were bagging I try the fries and they were cold again. Let me start by saying I love ice cream. When this Dairy Queen site was under construction several years ago, I couldn't wait for it to open. What a sad disappointment! From day one, the service was just awful. So bad, in fact, I never went back for a few years. Two weeks ago, I got some coupons in the mail and thought, what the heck, why not. I went there last Friday evening. I was the only person at the counter. There were 5 people in back who saw that I was there. NO ONE, not one of them even addressed me to acknowledge my presence. I have never had a bad visit to this spot, not really sure why so many negative reviews. Sounds like a lot of nitpicking to me. You can't blame staff for not being able to get certain products during a pandemic. You can't complain about a bit of a wait considering they are doing their best with staffing. Give those things a bit of a break, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The food is always hot and really good. The woman who took our order in the drive thru was so nice while I asked questions about certain items. We will be back often, I can tell you that! I understand any new place takes a little bit to get into the swing of things but it continuously seems to be disorganized. I ordered a specialty ice cream cake for a birthday. When I went in to pick it up I was waiting a few minutes before anyone acknowledged me in the empty restaurant. When my cake was brought out it wasn't sealed and the lid was askew. The kid at the counter just handed it to me and was not wearing gloves or a mask. My guests and I got sick immediately after eating the cake. I wasted my Indy on a sub par cake and got food poisoning to show for it. I already reached out to DQ corporate who said they would let the owner of this franchise know about this issue. I doubt very much the owner cares as they have neither reached out nor are they adhering to COVID regulations. Update: I did fill out the form listed in the response. I was so excited to see DQ come to town but was quickly disappointed. Ordered the 5 buck chicken tender lunch which seemed like a great deal. Sat at the window for about 10 minutes after waiting in line in drive thru for longer than that. Got the meal and drove home. Opened up the box to find 2 decent pieces of chicken and 1 that was no bigger than my pinky finger and a whopping total of 9 soggy French fries. I ordered a cheeseburger , hot dog , regular cheese curd and raspberry choc shake I was told that hot dogs were not available how can that be on a holiday weekend !!! I was also asked 3 times size and ice cream wanted for shake . Once I got home the curds were missing the marina sauce , hamburger was very dry no flavor, looked like cheese was just put on burger !! My wife have been 3 or 4 times in the first several weeks that they've been in business. After growing up where the only DQ around was a seasonal one selling just ice cream, it's nice to have a full service Dairy Queen in the area. The 5 and 6 dollar lunch specials are a heck of a good value. I also really enjoyed the flame thrower grill burger. It puts most fast food burgers to shame! Since they've only been in business a few weeks, there still are some bugs to work out: The inside waiting area seems kind of small and gets cluttered during busy times. When several cars are in the drive thru lane, it could have a tendency to cause backups on Atwood Ave. Maybe once the newness wears off, it won't be quite as busy. While they could be in the weeds at times, most staff and management seemed helpful and willing to please. read more

This is the last time I intend to eat at this place. I understand there is a shortage of employees nowadays but what does it take to actually receive what you paid for going thru the drive thru. This time I ordered a simple fish sandwich, no lettuce, extra tartar, my wife ordered a chicken sandwich, no tomato add cheese. We got home and I had a fish sandwich with damn near a head of lettuce and no tartar and my wife had chicken, half head of lettuce, 3 slices of tomato and no cheese. The French fries were limp and undercooked. I would say it was the worse mess I've ever seen if it wasn't for the visit we had prior to that where they totally screwed up a larger order that involved my grandkids and forced us to throw everything away and order pizza. I used to love going there as an alternative to the Big 3 fast food burger chains but I've added DQ to the list of DON'T WASTE MY TIME. I'll never return and will never recommend them to anyone. It sure all the negative remarks... it's Dairy Queen I.E Fast food! While I haven't had their food since I was a child I love their blizzard. Every time I get one from this establishment it is made correctly and the staff is kind and courteous. I typically go through the drive through. While there is always a wait it is not thattt long and at least I know they are making my blizzard right! Again it's not comparable to non-fast food or gourmet ice cream... it's fast food people. I probably should have expected issues when we arrived at DQ at 11:45 AM on a Sunday and there were only two cars in the lot. We went for a quick lunch with our grandsons after playing at a local playground. I was hopeful when we went inside as the dining area and bathroom were very clean. We went to order and were told there was no French fries. We ordered other sides. When we tried to order drinks we were told that two of the sodas were also out. We sat down to wait for our order which took forever and came out a little at a time. Three out of four orders weren't correct. One side order never came but we didn't even bother to ask again. They did bring us French fries when apparently they had been delivered. The food wasn't great and it took over a half hour to arrive. This place is an a joke. The customer service is god awful, the management is clueless, and the workers are... let me stop myself there. Let me explain myself. I took my girlfriend out on a fun relaxing day. Went mini golfing, went for a drive, ran some errands, and ended up deciding on Dairy Queen for ice cream and a snack. In the past we have gone here before and we know how long the drive thru can take sometimes, but the ice cream is good and worth it, so we thought. Sitting in the car in line for about 7-10 min before even placing the order, we finally get to the window about 5 minutes later. We sat at the window for... 15 MINUTES. Let me repeat that. We sat AT THE WINDOW waiting on a large vanilla cone with sprinkles for 15 minutes. After waiting for a bit, the woman starts to tell me that the ice cream machine was broke. But, 3 min before that, my girlfriend got her blizzard. So after paying for this trip, I say "ok well can I just have pretzel sticks (seeing a few orders all ready to go on the counter) and leave because this is taking awhile and the large cone is more money than the pretzels but I don't care." And she says she'll ask the manager. It was a no. The reason? No idea. So I wait 5 more minutes for my ice cream and after sitting and being yelled/honked at from people in line behind me, I drive away and go inside. When I got inside, I got confusion and attitude. There was at least 8 people waiting inside for their food, as well. I got my cone and left. Took a bite out of the cone and it was as stale as Lays Classic chips sitting in a bowl during a football Sunday all day. It was nasty. So, after waiting all that time for my cone, I threw it out. After waiting all that time, not once was I offered my money back or the pretzels I asked for. The two women working the window were very out of it and didn't know how to handle anything. Really wish I spoke to a manager but what was i gonna do, sit at the window all day while people are honking? No. There are so many other ice cream options around here, but I've always loved DQ. The reviews are correct!! Waiting in the drive through line sticking out to the street for almost an hour. When we finally got our order after a very long wait it came out incorrect. We had to go inside to correct the issue to only get additude, a comment about how they are almost out of ice cream (it was 8:30 on a Sunday night? it's like a grocery store being out of paper bags?). When they correct the issue we got handed a already melted blizzard with no lid with the cup attempted to be handed off to me a filthy ice cream fudge covered mess. On my first visit, I hit the drive-thru for a Brownie Blizzard. I received a peanut butter cookie dough blizzard so I had to go inside... thankfully I don't have any peanut allergy or sensitivity. Although it was annoying to have such a simple order get botched and then have to go inside and wait and wait to get the right order, I must say it was sooo good!! We decided to give the food a shot today. This time we went in so we could eat outside with our dog. I ordered a plain bacon cheeseburger combo and a double cheeseburger with ketchup only combo. Both were completely wrong. They remade them. I waited. It was crowded and annoying but hey, it's pretty much all 16-22 year olds and they're doing their best. The new order comes out and they walk past me and bring it outside. I didn't know it was my order so I stood there like a dummy and finally they tell me my order is outside with my boyfriend and dog. I go outside and check the order. One of them was correct, the other was wrong again. I go back in and wait again with what I now notice is a pretty significant amount of people who are also waiting for their orders to be fixed. Finally mine is done. My boyfriend enjoyed his double cheeseburger with ketchup. My plain bacon cheeseburger left a lot to be desired. Floppy, undercooked bacon and cold cheese was meh but if you like your bacon floppy (some do) then you would prob enjoy... Prob going to be our last visit. Not really worth the wait or the hassle. I might hit the drive-through now and then for a blizzard but I'll be careful to make sure the order is correct before I drive off. They need better training and management. It looks likely that a lot of the employees are first-time workers (very young) so they likely just need more direction and they would be great. read more

Ok, I'm willing to make some concessions, it's July 4th and fireworks are going off nearby so it's really really busy... We waited in the drive thru line for 27 minutes total. By the time we got to the box to order "welcome to dairy queen, I'll take your order whenever you are ready".. Not in a friendly manner btw. We place our order for 2 blizzards and... Silence... Assumed she was just busy and thus not chit chatty because of the curt, straight to the point greeting. We get to the window. The windows are plastered with some kind of paper, possibly donations, but you cannot see through the window, and they can't see us. Then they slide open to reveal our cashier, no apology for the long wait, no smiles or friendly demeanor.. I get it, you are stressed out. She tries to ring us up for $37... For 2 blizzards? nope they did not actually take our order... We tell them what we ordered, no apology, just plugged it in and charged us $10 and change... I realize corporate chains run businesses differently, but I worked for Starbucks, and when you F'd up that bad, on top of a ridiculous wait, you don't charge your customer! The blizzards come out... Still no apology, maybe there was a"have a good night" but I was already opening up yelp to write this review, so I didn't quite catch what she says exactly. SORRY, NOT SORRY! Another terrible visit. 2 blizzards and a cone into the trash AGAIN! Hit the drive thru and ask for 2 blizzards no spoons flat tops. The spoons are kept in an open bin unwrapped on top of the shake machine where anyone that needs one just reaches in and grabs one. NASTY especially in the age of corona virus. Guess what? Both blizzards showed up at the cashier open with non-glove handled spoons shoved inside. The cashier looks at the order screen and promptly reaches in and pulls the spoons out with hands she has been collecting money with and drops tops on them. FILTHY! Then the ice cream cone comes out melting through the dip and running all over the cone. It must have been sitting there during the 15 minutes we waited for the blizzards. Into the trash. This place is so disgusting it isn't funny. I've had to throw away dozens of blizzards, been cheated on food and shorted on change so many times it's sad. These drive thru kids don't care a bit.
