    2 Piece Blueberry Hot Cakes
    Melissa R.

Dairy Cottage is a small, neighborhood place that's good for breakfast. We stopped in after church before an impending snowstorm and sat by the electric fireplace. My husband and I both ordered the short stack of pancakes full of fresh blueberries. He also got the scrapple which was slightly crispy on the outside, how it's supposed to be. Service was efficient, and our coffees were continually refilled. Dairy Cottage is nothing fancy, but it's a Springfield institution. (I still remember how all the walls used to have names carved in them.) They're also open for lunch and have ice cream.

Dairy Cottage, Springfield PA-- ~14 flavors of ice cream, ~6 topping sauces, lots of stylings including cones, waffles, brownies, splits, or sundaes. We went there specifically for a hot fudge walnut sundae so quickly settled on that despite all the other options. Having never gotten ice cream here--other than milk shakes (which are very good, btw)--we were more than pleasantly surprised by the flavor trip and size (ample) of our sugar rush choices. The fudge syrup was hot and thick not just warmed up chocolate syrup and I'll let the old fashioned presentation speak for itself. Also, the service is always really good and last night was no exception even though it was late and they were training new staff.

Dairy Cottage is a reliable go-to if you're local and looking for an affordable quick bite. The food is decent but I have to give a special shout-out to the mozzarella sticks - they are my favorite! Super crispy outside, melty gooey inside. Pizza is fine, the dough could use a little upgrade and maybe be cooked a bit longer. Solid spot for a diner-esque comfort meal for sit-in or takeout/delivery.

My relationship with The Dairy Cottage has been a lifelong one. As a child, we would often stop there on the way go/from visits with relatives, shopping trips, etc. Their ice cream sundaes were "lick the spoon" delicious. They've since added deli style foods - sandwiches, hoagies, hamburgers, etc., turning an ice cream parlor into a restaurant. Recently FDC and I decided to stop by there after visiting the Patriarch and The Queen Mother's resting place in nearby St. Peter & Paul Cemetery. We were just ahead of the lunch rush and were seated promptly. You've heard the saying "eyes bigger than stomach?" Yeah, we challenged that one. I got the delicious orchard chicken salad sandwich. liked it so much I got a pint of the chicken salad to go. FDC got a burger a big as her hand. I could not resist the milkshakes, thick snd creamy, then FDC convinced me to order an ice cream sundae. It was old fashioned heaven. I won the eye over stomach challenge by a hair, didn't eat again for a day, and declared it worth it. This is Old School Delco food, it's not trendy or pretentious, and it's wonderful.

I like almost everything about this place. The first thing that peaked my interest was of course several reviews on Yelp for places that had good cheesesteaks in Delaware County. Of course as usual the Yelpers were right. They do make a pretty good cheesesteak! So let's go over the entire experience. When you walk in you'll find a diner style restaurant with historical pictures but updated(ish) decor. I like all of that. It's a large open concept so you can see directly into the kitchen from the farthest side of the room where it boasts a beautiful fireplace. There are ample seats tables as well as booths. It's a very clean and inviting restaurant with a friendly staff. My mother who is hard to please and very picky was so pleased with her "real turkey" sandwich, I mean turkey like Thanksgiving turkey. My cheesesteak was just as good both sandwiches had a healthy amount of meat. The prices are somewhat fair except for when you get to additions, the cheesesteak was pricey however the turkey sandwich with just the bread was a fair price. This is the only downfall, they charge for absolutely everything! My elderly mother didn't look at the menu to go over each additional item so each time the young lady mentioned an item my mother agreed to it. Cheese $.75 pickles $.50 hot peppers $.50 lettuce $.50 tomatoes $.50 and on and on I think you get the picture. This can take prices over the top when your cheesesteak starts at $8.50-$9.00!

This was around 11 am on a Monday and the restaurant was pretty full. I ordered the honey butter pancakes, the carrot juice and scrambled eggs. Order to table was probably abot 10-15 minutes. Obviously, the pancakes brought me in and they are DELICIOUS. The portion is huge and very intense, as it is doused and swimming in honey butter and has the sweet compote on top. Its amazing, but definitely a lot. Brought home more than half and it will take me a couple of days to get through it. If you do not have an extreme sweet tooth (I do), these aren't for you. The juice was great-very fresh tasting and not overly sweet. Scrambled eggs are a simple dish, but these were the standout for me because I asked for them scrambled soft and they actually were! Never happens anywhere. Props to the cook! Plus, the eggs weren't seasoned. Just eggs and cheese which I love. I like my eggs to taste like eggs. I will 100% return. Can't wait to try other menu items. I deducted one star due to overall cleanliness. There was some food on my chair and a lot on the floor around my feet. Not a deal breaker, but just slightly off putting for me.

I was in the neighborhood around lunch time and saw a line of people waiting for orders. I parked in the bowling alley lot next door. I sat at the old school counter and enjoyed hearing some locals catching up, older fellas chatting about nothing and watching the boys work that flat top. My sandwich came out pretty fast. The roll was crispy and fresh, the meat was tasty and packed in so tight not a morsel of meat fell out, the cheese was melted into the roll and meat extremely well and each bite was full of hot pepper bite. It was well put together and made. I was impressed and would rank this cheesesteak pretty high in Delco. Not the best I've had but quantity and quality wise it's well above average. The breakfast here is what everyone typically raves about (I'll be back for a breakfast sandwich), but don't sleep on the lunch menu. Especially that cheesesteak! Thanks guys for a great experience.

When I first stopped in here it was in a whim, and although they do have a selection of whimsical, sweet, dare I say, ridiculous and sweet coffee beverages, they were able to make me a traditional Italian macchiato. I had been unable to find a good, even passable REAL macchiato anywhere, and they delivered in spectacular fashion. Not only was the drink silky, strong, and small, it was made with outstanding Italian roasted espresso that has a different character than the standard, heavier-roasted American palate has come to be used to. This alone would have been enough for me to return time and time again when I was in the area, but after getting breakfast sandwich on a whim, this instantly became a weekly stop; more than that, a destination. Fast forward a few years and the initial attraction of coffee, sandwich, and friendly staff has transformed into a beautiful relationship where I can easily walk in, everyone knows me before I am all the way through the door, and even knowing my idiosyncrasies, are still excited to see me and listen to me prattle on about whatever might be the story of the day. The time spent here has given me the opportunity to try nearly everything on the menu and try every drink available. Including all the dry goods, pasta for sale, frozen trays of delicious Italian staples, and more. I am not one to just stick to the things I know I enjoy as I am always on a journey for something interesting and exciting, so whenever something shows up I am getting that rather than something in my "comfort zone". This has led to me traditionally losing interest or finding that the quality of a place declines for myself over time, especially multiple years. Not the case here at Napoletano, it has only done the exact opposite and gotten much more rewarding and somehow even more delicious and embracing of people and everyone who comes through the door. This brings me to my most recent food adventures into the menu here, the newest additions for the most part, the added amazing hoagie list. I have had two. The first I tried was the Gondolier, which I was enamored with for weeks. I had been there too early to order lunch time and time again, and then FINALLY, one day it was about time for lunch to be available and Michelle, the wonderful woman running the front of house and so much more, was able to get me this sandwich just a bit early. It had it all....outstanding bread, roasted red peppers, seriously premium meats, both standard deli and cured. However, something just missed the mark for me. I couldn't believe it. I don't know what and I don't know why. I was immediately disappointed, likely because I had hyped this up in my head for so long and I have come to expect so much from Napoletano, I simply couldn't believe that this wasn't the best hoagie I had ever enjoyed. That fact has eaten at me for at least a month now, but today that all changed, and is possibly why I finally found my voice to put all my thoughts together an write this after so many years. During my visit to say hello today, I realized it was once again right around the time where I could order sandwiches. I toyed with the thought of the cutlet sandwiches or even the Cuban which is amazing, but after going around and around and around talking to everyone working about this and that, I finally decided on another hoagie; the Sicilian. Kris, another of my favorite people along with Fanny (who was on vacation) helped me inch toward this one based on my description of my whole previous experience, and tbh is sandwich is so interestingly unique. Topped with lemon and orange zest, it doesn't sound like it would work, but once you take your first bite, you begin to examine your entire existence. Why have you never had a specialty Italian hoagie topped with citrus zest??? The question has been running through my head all day since lunch, and I still cannot understand why I haven't been enjoying something like this my entire life. So many years lost of amazing sandwich experiences.....this sandwich was so divine, despite looking slightly barren and strange, that it blew apart my entire disappointment I had been holding since the gondolier. I will absolutely try the other four in the list. I would have anyway, but this definitely took that mission off of life support and put it front and center. There are so many reasons to go to Napoletano. I could spend another thirty paragraphs writing about what is great about this place, the people, the drinks, the space, all of it. But instead of doing that, you should just go here. Even if you're not close, and enjoy!

My maid of honor had booked a table for 11 people (she had her mothers retirement there with more people mind you) and we were seated on their very large outdoor space but not the patio as stated on the reservation. The restaurant is all pretty open to the course and it appeared there was more "patio" area elsewhere. The hostess brought us to the fire pit depicted in the one photo and placed menus on the fire pit and walked away. We were confused as we thought we were getting a table, after going back up to her she said we could have the table next to it as she did not know and that we had the fire pit as well, which was a plus! The disappointing part was that it was never turned on for us. It took several minutes for a waiter to come over to greet us, and triple that to get our first round of drinks. When drinks were brought there were still 3 missing but were eventually brought out. All of our drinks were in wine glasses which was strange and we did not get wine. Our prosecco had the proper glassware however. The waiter then walked away but we called him back as we wanted to get appetizers. We placed them and off the waiter went. While we sipped and toasted another waiter come over stating they had a glass of champagne for someone at the table which had a piece of fruit on the bottom. I had a bride to be sash on and we assumed someone saw it and had treated me to it. Well 10 minutes later and almost done the drink they came over and said "actually that drink was not meant for this table". Did they expect us to return it? Why even say that to a party? That was not our mishap. How oblivious that I am a bride to be as well? Just very odd. It took forever for our food and drinks even more so. There was a decent crowd but nothing extreme. We all felt like it took forever, not just me, and one of the women works at a very busy and fast paced restaurant and she even agreed. Our server was just okay and did not make the night feel special nor did any staff for that matter. For the food--The peach crostini appetizer was pretty good but everyone could tell they were canned cold peaches on the crostini. Cheesesteak egg rolls were mediocre. I ordered an appetizer for my main which was the tuna poke. That was decent and fresh but could have had more sauce/dressing. No one at the table raved about their food. Once we got our food we never saw our waiter till the end when we were all over it and ready to leave, especially since their live music went from upbeat summer vibes to depressing jazz music. After we were done taking some group pictures and paid we left. Never got a congratulations, come again, nothing. Honestly I am so disappointed which is disheartening as I was excited for the night and the decor/atmosphere, which all that it has going for this place. We ended up going out to another local spot for better music, service, and dancing.

Last night, I had the pleasure of indulging in two of their signature offerings: the Motown Pizza and the Greek Detroit Style Pizza. Spoiler alert: both left a lasting impression! Motown Pizza: First up was the Motown Pizza, a delightful homage to the Detroit-style pizza that's been making waves. The thick, rectangular crust was a sight to behold, perfectly golden and crisp on the edges while remaining fluffy and airy in the center. Each bite offered a satisfying crunch that's hard to resist. Topped generously with a rich, tangy tomato sauce that has just the right amount of sweetness, the flavor profile was elevated with a blend of savory spices. The cheese--oh, the cheese! A blend created a gooey, stretchy experience that paired harmoniously with the sauce. To top it off, the pepperoni was perfectly placed, slightly crispy around the edges and bursting with flavor. Overall, the Motown Pizza is a symphony of textures and tastes that will have you singing its praises long after the last slice. Greek Detroit Style Pizza: Next, I ventured into the Greek Detroit Style Pizza, which was nothing short of a culinary revelation. This pizza took the classic Detroit style and infused it with vibrant Mediterranean flavors. The crust maintained that same delightful crunch, but the addition of olive oil gave it an extra layer of richness. The toppings were a feast for the eyes and the palate. A generous layer of feta cheese added a creamy tang, while Kalamata olives brought a briny punch that contrasted beautifully with the sweetness of the tomato sauce. Fresh red onions rounded out the toppings, providing a refreshing crunch that made each bite feel light yet satisfying. What truly stood out was the balance of flavors. The Greek spices harmonized with the traditional pizza elements, creating a unique fusion that's hard to find elsewhere. It's the kind of pizza that makes you rethink your typical toppings and inspires a desire for more adventurous pairings. Final Thoughts: Rating 5/5 Pricing for the pizzas were very inexpensive and the quality was outstanding. Icon Pizza in Springfield, PA, has truly elevated the pizza game with their Motown and Greek Detroit Style Pizzas. Both offerings showcase a commitment to quality ingredients and innovative flavor combinations. Whether you're a pizza purist or an adventurous eater, you'll find something to love here. I highly recommend stopping by Icon Pizza for a pizza (or two) of these delicious creations. You won't be disappointed! The service is exceptional my husband loves the owner and could not stop raving about him.
