We have come here two times this week. The first time that said that it was past 9 so they couldn't serve There heart attack fries. We came again tonight at 8 to find that they said that the cheese fries are only for there winter menu. This should be online and easy to see as we drove 30 min both times to get these. I went to Daikers with my girlfriend on my first trip up to their lake house. I feel like rating this a 4 out of 5 stars may be a bit generous but the food was very tasty so I didn't want to short change it. We all had the Fish Fry which was outstanding! Yes, its a simple meal but I literally ate everything on my plate. The three of us ate and had drinks for less than $40. In fact, I believe the drafts were $2.25 each which compared to Philly prices is a damn steal! So, that was definitely a plus. The staff was friendly as well and our waiter wasn't afraid to crack a few jokes in my direction for licking my plate clean. The bartender was nice as well but served up what will probably remain as the worst bloody mary I've ever had. It was a shot-in-the-dark order but some of the best bloody mary's I've ever had were from places in the sticks so I was hoping that Daikers wouldn't let me know. Sadly, they did in the regard. Oh well, the bartender was still friendly so I have no complaints there. Finally, you NEED to check out this place if only to do some people watching. Daikers has solid bar food, a great view, and you can dock your boat right off of fourth lake. Service leaves a lot to be desired, so don't go if you're in a rush. They messed up my drink order but the bartender was really cool about it and basically gave me a double for free! They have live bands on the weekends sometimes, pool tables and tons of gambling games if you're into that sort of thing. Northwoods is another place similar to this but with KARAOKE! read more

The view was amazing! It was pretty packed we only had two people so we didn't have to wait to get a table outside. It was a great atmosphere everyone was nice. The food was good the drinks had a weird flavor to it. I was able to switch the sauce in my wrap from hot sauce to bbq. When it came to the check we waited 20 minutes to pay because he was paying with his debit card so we walked up to the hostess and paid that way. 20 minute wait - not bad at all for a Saturday night. Sat at the bar which needed a wiping and three fairly unfriendly bartenders stared us down before a nicer gentleman wiped it and struck up minimal conversation. Waitress was never at table to check on us. Someone in our party ordered the pork tenderloin bites and they came cold. My buffalo chicken pasta had clearly been sitting around awhile before delivered to table too. Took the bites back to kitchen and they came back - the same basket because one had been cut into. They were still cold in the middle, but now covered in an excessive amount of warm BBQ sauce in an attempt to heat and barely chewable. 20 minutes and the waitress still hadn't come back to check that the original issue had been resolved. She did eventually take the charge for the pork off the bill without being asked. Overall, the atmosphere is great and the food was pretty good too (besides the pork). This place is perfect for coming in from the cold, warming up by the fire, and eating your weight in delicious, artery-clogging fried food. Who needs to eat healthy when you're wearing snowmobiling gear, though... That stuff hides everything. You can't leave here without trying the havarti tots, and these fried broccoli cheesy things that were to die for. They also had an apricot lager beer that was one of the best beers I've ever tasted. A member of our party ordered the NY strip, rare, and received it medium - medium well. Decided not to send it back because we had already waited an hour and a half for our food. Waitress promised him a drink and after he asked for it 3 times she finally said "I'll just take it off". And the most appalling thing of all, was our waitress chasing my boyfriend down because her tip "wasn't even 10%". She questioned him for 5 minutes about it. Stopped at Daikers after a quick Fathers Day hike. Beautiful day, got to sit outside on the deck, catch a tan, have a beer, pet a dog. The view of the lake itself is great. Boaters can dock below and come up to eat and drink. I got the burger and it was good! I've heard other people say they don't really care for the food here but they got a wrap. The crispy chicken sandwich was good as well. Service was friendly. Cool place to hang out and catch some rays! They seem to have a lot of rules posted around though haha. read more

This would be a great place if the staff didn't suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!! Very cool bar with games to play, great deck, and a view that is second to none. However, I would not recommend coming here for dinner. I have tried that twice in the past 2 years and both times the service was so bad that I thought I was part of some hidden camera reality show. Visit 1 was with a friend and we decided to eat at the bar in hopes of quicker service. After waiting an hour for our food only one of our orders came out. Do one of us watch the other eat? I asked a couple times for updates and was told that one of the wait staff took the wrong order and they we remaking it. 20 min later we both had food. It was that bad They comped our meal Most recent visit was with 2 couples. We were told our wait time would be 20 min. We waited at the bar for 45 min then were seated at our table. The host walked away and we sat for another 20 min with no wait staff. We asked another server who was a couple tables away and she told us she was not our server. We went and found the host and she said she would send someone. Almost 10 min later our server arrived. He asked how long we had been waiting. Over 30 min was the ans. He said they never told him we were seated.... Long story short the staff here leaves a lot to be desired. Management is absent I guess... who knows? Food is average at best. When they seated us we asked for a table closer to the rail and the view and they said no as they were going to pull 2 tables together for 10 people the needed that table. No problem. So we order all three desserts on the menu and i ordered a coffee and bailey's. OK here we go.... The coffee was cold and tasted old I asked if she could heat up thought it just might be that it was cold. She brought it back so hot that I burnt my hole tongue and still tasted old. Then our dessert came out I order the carrot cake, was not fresh and was still partially frozen, my friend ordered cheese cake that was gritty and tasted like everything that was probably in the cooler next to it. Also was crushed like a box was on top of it. The third desert was chocolate lava cake which her daughter ate but was not good, she was just so hungry. It was edible. We told the waitress and she said she would of never suggested that we get the desserts as they are in the Adirondacks and no one ever gets the deserts----makes no sense. Meanwhile they sit the table we wanted with a family of 4 and did not pull any tables together - - - they lied. She took the carrot cake off the check not the cheesecake - so asked to talk to a manager who seemed very young and did not know how to handle this. VERY COCKY ATTITUDE. He said the dessert is fresh they serve it all day long..... Sure you do. We stood our ground and made him take off the cheesecake. Our party of 3 women came for good food and a beautiful view. After giving hostess our name and were told a 30 minute wait we went to the inside bar as the outside bar was full. We found a spot at the bar that had been previously vacated. After the "cute little blonde girl " looked at us an just walked away, we were finally greeted by a very hard working young man tending a busy bar apparently singlehanded, we were served. After being seated 45 minutes later, we ordered. An hour and a half later we were served. (No explanation OR apology!!!). Our food was good. When deciding where to go for lunch I would ask my visitors, "Do you want good food, or a good view? No, you can't have both". Daikers is where you go if you want an amazing view, or just drinks. They are also the best venue for live music. In the winter they have an indoor fire pit, and are a major snowmobiler hang out. Very poor service. We called ahead to ask if we could make reservations since it was a Friday night but was told it was first come first serve. We then asked if they could tell us how long the wait was and we were told "I don't know you'll just have to come down and put your name on the list..." We had a party of 12 and were willing to split our group up to make it easier. The host was very rude and snapped at us "ugh a party of 12...it'll be at least an hour and a half" we said that we would be willing to sit inside because we could see a lot of empty tables but he again rudely said "those arent for people who just walk up, those are for all the people on the deck in case it rains." We were diappointed in this experience since daikers has always been a staple for our annual trip to Old Forge. The food and view are great but we will not be back after this visit. We felt as though we were putting the host out because we were a group of 12. There is a nice outdoor deck for lunch / dinner overlooking Fourth lake, however the seating is limited and it is usually full. They are not fast at Daikers and they actually advertise it so don't expect your food 15 minutes after you order. I stopped in a little bit past the lunch hour on June 28, 2014. Even then, the patio was crowded because of the great lake views, but there were a couple of small tables and I was seated right away. I ordered a chicken caesar wrap, and thought it was extremely plain tasting and average, but I really enjoyed the cole slaw on the side. My waitress was very nice and also quite attentive, especially given that I was a single diner, and probably easy to forget or ignore. Well, all things considered (being in the Adirondacks), this place was not bad. I really enjoyed the bartender and the decor. The food was good from what I recall, but by the time it got there, I would've eatin anything. It was crowded, I'll give them that. But it was also one of the only places in the area that appeared to have a pulse, so they should be readily prepared. I recall there being about 3 bartenders on, which seemed necessary and about... well i dont know a half of a waitress? I know they? must've been stressed but not once did we get an i'm sorry you're waiting 45 minutes for food, i'm sorry i forgot half your table's plates or a smile. We were a large group of easy going people and so we didn't want to complain or leave or give her a hard time. We would've appreciated a little smile here and there or an appology though. I have been going to Daikers for years! This year during our family vacation, I tried to call ahead so they could accommodate 13 of us. I was told they don't take reservations and "they would be packed" this evening. We arrived at 7:00 pm and first noticed that they were not busy at all. The front deck was not being used but I asked if we could sit there anyways because there were so many of us. I was told, "we are not seating outside because our kitchen staff gets overwhelmed." I inquired as to why it would matter if we sat inside or out. I tried to understand because it would have been 13 meals regardless. My family ended up leaving and going to the Screaming Eagle instead! I can't understand how a restaurant that gets as much business as Daikers, could not accommodate a party of 13 people on an empty front deck on a Wednesday evening in July! I will certainly think twice before going there again! Perhaps they need training on hiring adequate staff and as well as customer service! read more

No substitutions, one check per table, everything is extra, including fries with a sandwich. This is a vacation spot so people can't always do one check per table. Very inconvenient for our group. They also refused to move tables for our group of ten so we had to be split up. We arrived at the same time and one table didn't get their food until the other table was finished. Took 25 minutes for our drinks. Very small portions of pasta salad. Literally 2 bites. One person ordered a chicken parm sandwich and it was burnt. Overall, I have nothing good to say. Visited Daikers, for the first time after being an avid visitor of old forge/north country for many years! What a view off the back deck! Overall it was a great experience, food was great. Was better than your average bar food. It wasn't to busy being "off season" and there was a wide age range of guests. Love that type of atmosphere.... Only piece of constructive feedback I would give, is that upon initial arrival, there seemed to be a lack of organization when it came to seating people. There were people everywhere just waiting for a table and none of the wait staff seemed to know what was going on. I will definitely be back. The food, beverages and the view are worth it. read more

I was very disappointed in the staff . We had a party of 12 (family ) and wanted to sit outside. It was cloudy and chance of rain , my son and his family arrived first and were told they weren't using the deck because of the rain. The deck was covered by a rooftop!!!! When we arrived they said the same to us!!! They were sat in a booth and wanted us to also. There was no one in the restaurant except for 3 other tables and would not sit us all together!!!! Looked like a nice place on the lake. However there is no system for server to get your table while your waiting other then come find you which she didnt. The only seating was on the deck which is a great veiw but it was 62 degrees with a 15 mph wind. No one was aloud to eat inside. Fish fry said famous, not sure for what other then being previuosly frozen and strong fishy tasting. Fish should be fresh for fridays. We visit Old Forge every year and always make sure we go to Daikers. Adam the bartender takes the best care of us every time! This year they didn't have kitchen help last 10pm, we showed up after not eating all day hoping for food, and were very disappointed to find that we couldn't get food. Adam spoke to the owner and was able to get us a few pizza and wings. Can't say enough good things about Daikers, we'll definitely continue coming back. read more

Daikers has a great atmosphere for a bar and a huge deck with stunning lake views. The menu has a good amount of options and the food isn't bad. The only issue I have is that the service is slow. Not a great place to eat with impatient children unless you bring some snacks. The bar is well stocked but again the sevice is always slow. Bottom line I wouldn't choose Daikers for dinner with the kids but if you just want to spend your time looking at the water drinking a beer, then it may be what your looking for. read more
