First time having the pleasure of dining here! The food is outstanding! I've lived up in the area for 7 years and wish I found it earlier!! I ordered the clam chowder soup which was perfect and PK's Penne which is shrimp and scallops (best I've ever had) with mushrooms in a light penne sauce. On a return from a vacation in Canada to Connecticut, we stopped in town for the canal tour. When the on-site restaurant turned our party of four away 15 minutes before opening, we decided to look elsewhere and discovered PK's Pub tucked in a residential area, minutes away just off the main drag. Don't let the location fool you, as it's located in a converted home. To our surprise, they took us without reservations and seated us immediately. Our host Kay, is one of the owners and was very personable and answered all of our questions. (A Hat is a type of pasta, and the dollar bill on the wall was something they saw at a place in Florida that had 150K on the walls until a storm blew the place away. The menu has something for everyone. I had the Hats, broccoli and Italian sausage, my brother-in-law had pasta and meatballs, and the wives each had a sandwich. The food came out piping hot and was reasonably priced. Worth a stop if you live in the area or just passing through. Sitting near the kitchen door, you couldn't help but notice they do a great take-out business as well! read more

Don't let the neighborhood put you off, this place is outstanding. We've visited several times, even bringing out of town guests and the staff have always been accommodating and attentive. Traveling the NYS Thruway, west toward Buffalo and there are few offerings along the way. First, thank you, Yelp for posting a review for PK's Pub in Herkimer, NY. PK's is located in what appears to be someones family home converted to it's current use...quaint. Parking is difficult, only on street, but we did it. Inside, we realized the place was bustling! Lots of people there just for the Kentucky Derby on a small flat screen TV while having something to eat. Very friendly atmosphere! It took a while to get a table so we sat at the bar for a bit. Once seated at our table the service was prompt and friendly. Wait staff knew about the menu offerings and was able to explain dishes we never heard of before. We both ordered the Sicilian Chicken. Oh my WORD! Unique, flavorful and one of the best unexpected bites I've ever had! It came with a side and I had rice (a wild rice mix) which was delicious. This meal was preceded by a lovely house salad with the creamiest crumbly blue cheese bits and balsamic vinaigrette. Absolutely delicious! We've been to higher rated places before and paid much more for a meal that wasn't half as good or plentiful. This place is an absolute gem! read more

Went for a rehearsal dinner, was a great experience. I got chicken riggies and asked for a special "not so spicy" plate and they accommodated gladly. The server was very helpful with the menu and was on top of drinks. Only 2 single bathrooms, but were very clean. However I must warn it is in a pretty rough part of town. We parked across the street in a private lot, I don't recommend parking by the houses. There were a lot of characters that would make me nervous. It is also hard to find with such a tiny sign. Overall, a tremendous meal that I would go to again. read more

12/26: PKs Pub, Herkimer, NY: This was the last restaurant we visited while we were in Upstate, NY. My boyfriends family suggested it, so we all went together. The venue has a lot of different rooms with different decorations. We were sat in the back room with a table large enough for our party of 9. The server got our drink orders right out to us. Everyone got a mixture of entrees, but I got their special, which was rib tips, with mushrooms and onions (no onions for me of course) served over garlic mashed potatoes with a Cabernet red sauce. My boyfriend got Chipotle Ravioli with blackened chicken. Overall, both dishes were good. I think because I ordered my dish with no onions, they over compensated with mushrooms. The ravioli serving was a little small for the portion. If you ordered something like chicken parm, you got a side of penne and red sauce. No one ate it because you didn't know it came as a side. I felt bad that they wasted all of that food. read more

Has been great every time I've gone. I've tried several things on the menu, ranging from the chicken francese to the chicken capicole. But by far, my favorite meal is the Sicilian Chicken. It's a hefty portion of chicken, eggplant, ricotta cheese, and greens smothered in sauce and mozzarella that will definitely leave you stuffed. It also comes with a side of penne pasta, which I upgrade to the pesto cream sauce because it's THE BOMB. I've gotten the Pesto Chicken before too but I ask for it grilled instead of fried and it tastes amazing! The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is because the last time I went, it took over an hour and a half to get our food. But otherwise, the staff is nice and the food is great. This place doesn't look like much (especially from the outside) but the food is good. Located on a side street in a residential area of Herkimer, it's clear that it (very recently) used to be a house. It looks like the front door hasn't even been replaced! The inside is slightly nicer. The bar area is cozy and the dining area is serviceable. When I ate here recently I was seated at a table right outside the door to the kitchen, which was a bit annoying, but it ended up being okay. It seems like they're aiming for a "fine dining" atmosphere but it still feels a little divey. It's more of a bar that serves food than a restaurant with a bar (if that makes sense). I will say that the food is quality. What PK's lacks in atmosphere they make up for in flavor. I recently had the chicken riggies (a regional speciality: diced chicken, rigatoni and peppers in a tomato cream sauce) and they were delicious! The food was hot, cooked well and nicely seasoned. Their parmesan cheese is a little cheap (it looks like the pre-shredded DiGiorno cheese that comes in a tub at the grocery store). Other than that, I was satisfied with my meal. Dinner entrees come with a salad and bread, both of which were unremarkable. Our server was friendly, attentive, and professional. It's not perfect, but it's a decent option if you're looking to get dinner in Little Falls, especially considering that dining options there are limited. If you're looking for something more atmospheric, you may want to head further to the New Hartford/Utica area. read more

My companion and I ate here during a weekend in Herkimer. He had the Chicken Capicola which he enjoyed and I asked for a pasta with marinara sauce explaining that I cannot have dairy or meat. My meal came with shredded cheese on top and had to be returned to the kitchen. The server didn't gripe about having to do this but it still was a nuisance. Perhaps if I was an omnivore I would have a different review but all in all, my meal was nothing special. They do have a great beer selection and the atmosphere is very nice. This was my second time at PK's. The first was with a group of 4, this time with a group of 22. Both times the service was excellent, the food was delicious and the place was very comfortable. We had a variety of different menu items, mine was the Black and Blue (Blackened Blue?) chicken salad - nicely blackened chicken breast on a bed of greens with cucumbers, egg, tomatoes. The dressing is chunky bleu cheese with a decent dose of Cajun spices mixed in - yum! Others enjoyed the Friday fish fry, the lobster and scallop and shrimp Alfredo special, and more. Nobody walked away unhappy. Our server was what made it 5-stars, though (only on-street parking would normally relegate this review to 4 stars). Nicole was in a word INCREDIBLE. She ASKED if we wanted separate checks (yeah, 22 of us), then gave us each a number and got everything exactly right. How often do you get a server grumbling about separate checks, and here she was INVITING it. I asked her how come she was able to be so pleasant, and she said it was because she taught middle schoolers, so this was easy compared to that. I am not in Herkimer all that often, but if you are and you want good food and great service, park on the street and have a meal at PK's Pub - you won't regret it. read more

The wait staff is great, bar tenders are great, food is amazing, menu options are wide, but all expertly prepared. Prices are fair and quality is high! Pulled off the thruway on my way to Boston because I hate highway food and it was the first hit on Google. What a great find! The place was packed on a Friday night, I sat at the bar. The staff are friendly and handling the rush with style. I made the mistake of filling up on the buffalo tenders before my osso bucco arrived. Best pork I've had in ages, the meat just fell of the bone. I think I sold three of them to people who had just walked in and said "oh my God, what are you eating? It looks amazing". It was. Went to a meeting and was asked if I had tried "the greens" in upstate NY. Having no idea what they were, I said "no, where can I try the best around"? I was quickly told "PK's". I went there and had the steak and greens wrap. It was surprisingly good, albeit very salty. My friend had a steak sandwich, and he really liked it. The greens has 2 kinds of pepper, onions (I believe) and breadcrumbs, all mixed in together. PK's also has a pretty cool looking vintage bar. read more
