We love Patty's! Our five year old begs to go there all the time and it's our favorite place to grab a drink and some wings!

Chowder House - The steamers were served with clarified butter

Chowder House

Chowder House continues its tradition of excellence, even when short staffed due to a blizzard. The…read moreNew England clam chowder was flavorful and creamy. The fried clam strips are absolutely a must. They are getting hard to find around the country and it is a pleasure to be able to get them when in Utica. They are seasoned just right. The oysters were a bit small, but very fresh and served with wonderful accompaniments. The haddock was perfectly cooked. And everyone at my table seemed pleased with the full variety of this most satisfying menu. Coffee and dessert were very nice. No cappuccino or espresso, but that's not why you come to this delightful seafood restaurant. I will continue to come back when I am in Utica.

Had a real nice meal on a Friday evening at the chowder house…read more Waitress took our drink order (by the way they do not offer light beer). Ordered a UC because....we'll just because. The dining area had lots of decorations as you'd imagine the theme was beach like. Started off with calamari and it was very unique - the rings were cut thinner than most places and the light breading really let the flavors come through...definitely fresh and really good. Opted for the deep fried haddock and shrimp special, shrimp were very large and still had bite to them so I have to believe they were very fresh. Beer battered haddock was good - two strips with a nice coating. Took a pic of the dinner but it came out lousy - good reason to return.

Lewis' Restaurant - Grilled chicken salad

The restaurant is very well kept and clean. Staff were welcoming and I was seated immediately. The space is large and offers side rooms for private events. Upon entry, you'll find the bar area that seems to be popular. I tried the coconut shrimp appetizer with pineapple sauce. It was on their white leaflet insert for their specials but I noticed it was on their permanent menu as well. I thought it tasted great and wasn't too greasy. The sauce wasn't overly sweet. Entrees come with a side salad and an additional side. I got the haddock with a side of spaghetti. The spaghetti side was huge. The salad had cucumber, onion and tomato with some iceberg lettuce. There were over 5 dressing options to chose from. I chose the balsamic vinaigrette and the husband chose a peppercorn sauce. I liked my sauce a little more because the peppercorn one was thick and rich like ranch. I liked the acidity and coating-ability of the vinaigrette. Both salads had more dressing than I would have preferred but it wasn't too drastically overdressed. I tried the husband's lighthouse chicken and liked the bacon flavor it had. For desserts, we had the pumpkin mousse parfait and wine ice cream from Gilligan's, their ice cream store neighbor. The wine ice cream normally comes in a wine glass but our waitress put it in a margarita glass for us for easier access. I appreciated that gesture. She was very attentive and quick. The pumpkin mousse tasted great but would have benefitted from an additional layer of something other than whipped cream. A pumpkin cake or crumble would have added nice texture to it.

I got broiled haddock it was completely bland no spices at all (I have gotten a better dish at a pizza restaurant) . It came w a "baked potato " it was so dry the skin peeled off. Went into the trash. The side salad was brown on many of the leaves w a very small wedge of tomato and two thin cucumbers. My husband got a pasta dish that barely had sauce, most of the noodles had no sauce on them. $80 later the only thing I loved was the potato soup. Btw they advertise every where that they deliver NOT TRUE. NO DELIVERY

I'm out of superlatives for Hooked, but since it had been a while since we had been, I thought it…read morewise to update my review. This is a haute cuisine place that is masked by the casual dining atmosphere. Seriously: top notch chef, original recipes, a core dedication to quality seafood, paired with a fresh fish counter and some prepared food to go. We usually go for something special, but tonight I decided to get an old childhood standby, fried clams (the Boston Basket) and the fish burger sandwich. I did not expect either to be as transportive as they turned out to be. The fried clams were as delicately done as I've ever had: not crispy, but not too floppy, with excellent breading. And while I prefer my clams naked, we tried all three of the dipping sauces -- a remoulade, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce. Now normally I loathe cocktail sauce and can take tartar sauce or leave it, so I figured we'd eat up the remoulade and ignore the other two. Still, I gave them little nibbles. Man! The cocktail sauce was like no other I've had, with a heavy hint of horseradish and a far fresher flavor than I've ever had. Then the tartar sauce -- genius! It had a delicate spicing, with capers providing a floral backdrop. That was only a preliminary, as the fish burger proved to be complex, with hints of multiple kinds of fish, and a fennel-based spicing. I ended up having that afterglow, as if I'd had a couple of cocktails and was sitting next to a fireplace, that is the hallmark of truly fine food at an advanced level. We also had the usual outstanding service, attentive without being pushy. I seriously think Hooked should consider splitting into two restaurants: one where the ambiance is upgraded to match the high caliber of the food, and another cheaper one that is strictly fast casual and takeout, and they'd more than double the business. There is a restaurant back where we come from in California, Turtle Bay, that did this with fine dining on one side and the quick, simple, and affordable food on the other side, with a big shared kitchen between them but with completely separate ambiances. That way I could come back more frequently, and still have the original Hooked for special occasions!

I finally decided to give Hooked a try after hearing many great things about their lobster roll…read more With that said, I'm glad I did because the food was delicious. To explain, I ordered the cold lobster roll with fries and it was great. First off, the lobster was tender, incredibly fresh, and they loaded the roll with it. Likewise, the roll was perfect. It was airy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. My only issue with the lobster roll was that it needed more mayonnaise. In the same manner, the fries were phenomenal. To make plain, the fries were scorching hot and seasoned to perfection. Also, they had a crispy exterior with a fluffy interior. These were simply great fries. Essentially, Hooked offers great lobster rolls and fries.
