Our view from our table on the covered patio. - A wooden outdoor dining deck features tables and chairs, including a green plastic chair and a black chair, with a blue umbrella providing shade. A person in a blue shirt and a child in a red shirt sit at one table. The deck overlooks a lake with a tree-lined shoreline and a partly cloudy sky. A hanging flower pot is visible in the upper left corner, and small outdoor lights are mounted on the railing.

Stopped while Doing a circle tour of the Adirondack Scenic Highway - we wanted a place with patio on a lake on this beautiful summer day and we scored! A patio table overlooking the lake, spot-on servers (so friendly!) and quick service without feeling rushed leads me to a 5-star review. A crispy chicken sandwich with a side salad and a fish platter with fries along with two draft beers was under $60 which we felt was very economical for a tourist town venue. Food was all tasty, fresh and hot. Beer could have been a bit colder (my personal opinion). Reading reviews is helpful but be aware that almost all of the 1 or 2 star reviews are from over six years ago and dealt mostly with staff issues. Be assured that is not the case now!

Worst service and mediocre food experienced here. For an hour+ wait, definitely not worth it.

Food is typical pub food. We go for the atmosphere and view. Favorite spot when in the Old Forge, Inlet area.

Average bar food. Good service despite the staffing issues throughout the area. Annual visit for our family

Perfect date night dinner…read more My husband and I hadn't been able to get out and have time for US. We wanted a nice, intimate, sit-down dinner where we could just enjoy each other's company over a few drinks. Seneca SERVED! I totally forgot our waiter's name, but he was the BEST. He even brought a purse hook for my furry YSL (the sweetest). I was totally fine slinging it over my chair but our server was like "not on my watch Queen"...ok he didn't SAY that exactly but I can have scenarios playing in my head, right? We made a RESY through RESY--no issues, we were sat right away. I browsed the menu prior to coming an immediately knew we needed to start with drinks (a SALTED Caramel Espresso for me and a beer for my guy). Drink was exquisite, so I had 2. We started off with the oysters that were beyond delicious with that chorizo oil. For the entrees we ordered the NY Strip with grilled shrimp (husband said it was cooked perfectly) and I got the shrimp and grits. I'm not a big fan of grits; but I saw someone else's plate and it looked amazing. No complaints on food whatsoever. I also want to mention that if you're in a pinch for a last minute reservation--utilize the Global Dining Club through AMEX-I was able to get a table same day! It was a great experience and we will be returning.

What we ordered: -Berry cosmo 5/5, sweet but strong. -House made Parker house rolls: 5/5, these are a MUST. They are so light and airy and they come with a nice spread of whipped butter -Coal fired beets: 5/5, these pistachio butter was so creative and it comes with a big ball of burrata -Lamb lollipops: 5/5, very tender/easy to eat, only comes with 3 -Crab spaghetti: 3.9/5, overall good but it was more like crab cake than actual pieces of crab -Salmon (guest rating): 5/5, large piece of salmon with unique flavors intertwined -Wagyu burger (guest rating): 5/5, great flavor and the tomato jam that comes with the fries is sweet and great but I wish the fries alone were more exciting, very boring unseasoned potatoes -Hanger steak (guest rating + me taste testing): 4/5, cooked very well and I love the presentation with the potato cubes but the marinate is kind of boring

My wife and I have dined there many times now! The owner Gail, her daughter Julie and the chef, Nate are great people. Warm and friendly. The restaurant/bar is warm and cozy with a big fireplace on the far wall - always roaring in the winter. Great place to grab a drink and a few appetizers after doing some of the local hikes. If you can make it for dinner - do it!!! They "regular" menu features thick burgers, Fried Haddock Fish Fry, Clam or scallop baskets etc. Their rotating specials are always fantastic - alway cooked well, spiced perfectly and nice portions! They often have meatloaf, pork or chicken parmesan, smoked ribs, beef stroganoff and other great dishes. If you do go and they have their NY Strip Steak on the menu - you are blessed. I have had steaks in Chicago, London, NYC, Dallas - lots of places. I can honestly say the the steak at PLI is in my top 3. It's shockingly good!!! Nate (Chef) told me they source their steaks from a local source and are aged, hand sorted and cut. Also, Julia has started to introduce many new cocktails. Where else do you find a Fall Maple Old-Fashioned, Moscow Mule, Loaded Bloody Mary or Harvest Margarita in the Southern Adirondack Mountains!?!?

My wife and I were in town on vacation, and we were looking for a restaurant that had some vegan options. I messaged the restaurant via their Facebook page to ask if they had anything vegan on the menu. I received this response: "Hi there! We can definitely accommodate! The ramen is vegan, but we are tweaking the menu that is posted online so there may be several more options than not posted. But, we can also create something special on the fly! Thanks so much for coming in!" As it turns out, though, the curry ramen was made with chicken stock, according to our waitress. She went to talk to the chef to see if he could recommend anything. My wife and I could hear their conversation, and we clearly heard the chef say, "I got nothing for them". Really? A chef in a nice restaurant couldn't come up with anything vegan, not even some pasta with marinara or a quick stir-fry? My wife and I were there early, right around 5:00 PM, and there was literally no one else in the restaurant, so it's not like the kitchen was busy. Surely the chef could have whipped-up something vegan if he wanted to. The waitress was very nice and quite apologetic. My wife and I ordered drinks and then went down the street to another restaurant that had two vegan options on the menu. I'm giving barVino two stars just because the waitress was really nice to us, and it wasn't her fault.

We like tapas style restaurants as we're light eaters and you can try many different dishes if you choose. We shared the PEI mussels in white wine sauce and the Fried Polenta and both were very good.
