Too many unsupervised kids working here. They are unprofessional and have totally turned me off. Not only are they yelling across the restaurant, but they're going in an out, straight to the kitchen. What a let down! read more

Dads bbq is the best bbq in Antioch and surrounding cities! Love supporting local family owned businesses and Dad's was just the addition we needed. (My boyfriend also loves the homemade hot sauce) read more

Absolutely wonderful! Had the best ribs, and the beans and macaroni salad. Everything was so delicious and the ribs were perfect! I highly recommend this place if you want a little "home cooking" experience. They've been here 15 years. read more

I visit the business for the first time. I stood at the counter. I could see into the kitchen where a male was preparing some food. A female came towards the counter, she did not acknowledge me at all. She went to scoop some mac and cheese into a bowl, the she took her fingers to scrape the spoon. She took the bowl to the microwave and then licked her finger. When she saw I was looking, she went to wash her hands. At that point I walked out. I felt her action was unsanitary. read more

Food is great. Very homey / "southern comfort" feeling when dining in. Tri-tip was super tender and melted in the mouth. Would have been five stars but I ordered 2 sides and only got 1 of the two. Service was fantastic!! Will definitely be coming back with my son. As my 4 yo would say "can we have cowboy food?" read more

Looking for a new BBQ place, so decided on this place. The choice of meats wasn't so good. The sauce was delicious and fries were basic and soft. Took it to go, and the foam containers were flimsy. My recommendation is to get higher quality to-go containers so the overall appeal of the food is more desirable. When it comes to the food, maybe change your choice of rib meat to full on big bone ribs. Those tiny ribs aren't so meaty. Thank you for the great friendly service read more

Amazing BBQ and extremely friendly/caring staff! We went in to order and the front attendant was very warm and welcoming along with one of the chef's who put our order together. We accidentally left without our side of green beans and he ran out to our car to make sure we didn't leave it behind. I usually never leave reviews for restaurants, but was really impressed by Dad's BBQ. Great spot for tasty food and awesome service! read more

Dad's BBQ - Having dinner with my babe love our night together with some good BBQ best ever - Barbeque Near Me - Antioch, California

Strange enough I stumbled upon this restaurant because the one that I normally go to in Antioch (Freddy's bbq) was out of a specific meat I ordered. So my wife and I decided to try this place and OMG!!! We were walk in customers. The staff was nice and helpful. The food was AMAZING. I ordered a three-way combo with ribs links and tri-tip my sides were greens and macaroni and cheese. I typically don't eat macaroni and cheese from restaurants but I decided to try and I was not disappointed very creamy not dry at all. The meat portions were huge. I've definitely found my new bbq spot. read more

Seriously the best soul food. There is not enough options for greens, Mac and cheese, corn bread and various meats but Dad's has it all. They were all very sweet and made sure we were satisfied. Very home like environment and we ordered more sides than what dishes came with cause we wanted to experience it all!! All, hands down the best food. read more

First time was last night . I ordered the tri tip and ribs . The mild sauce on the meat was good .the tri rib tender as was the ribs . .but here is the problem. Make sure you check your order because they do not check their order tickets . I also ordered the fried chicken wings and a side order of a mild link they gave me bbq chicken and no mild link . For the price you should at least get what you ordered. So that is why you only get 2 stars. Service is greatly lacking. Could have been a 4 or 5 star rating . Now I will try another establishment closer to me rather than go to another long visit . read more

Food is pretty good. The wait time is ridiculous. Doesn't matter if you call first and place an order or so up and order, your going to wait. I don't get it ... the food is already made! Just put it in the container ... geez. Maybe a little less talking and joking an more concentration on the orders. I been there several times. The last time I went the portions were smaller , prices were the same. Sounds like a Freddy B move. Yeah I stopped going there too !! To bad you just can't find a decent bbq place in the OCH. read more

Dad's BBQ is very authentic and great in taste. Everything on the menu is made from scratch using Dad's recipes. My favorite is the rib tip dinner with greens and macaroni and cheese. I have also used Dad's to cater events. You will not be disappointed. Excellent customer service. read more

My review is based on doordash delivery. I was a little skeptical to try dads bbq based on Yelp reviews, but finally decided to give it a try. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a 2 way tri-tip and ribs. The portion was huge! It could easily feed 2 people (way more than Kinders). I was also surprised by the potato salad as it was savory not sweet. I also had the spicy bbq sauce which had great flavor. I will be ordering from here again. read more

Dad's bbq is not good but not bad either, but tolerable to eat. The ribs and tri tip waa kinda on the dry side # epic fail, the the medium sauce didn't have any kick either. They received 1 star for the good customer service and sweet potato pie. Overall I probably wouldn't be rushing back to eat here. read more

Nothing worse than getting home and finding out your order is wrong. Instead of the links I ordered I got chicken, and not a nice breast or thigh even. I received a wing and what appeared to be a bunch if skin and bones. In their defense when I called to inform them of their error, I was told if I returned the next evening they would give me what I ordered. It was not worth my time to go back. read more

3 stars is right - it was ok for me. It's a small place on Railroad. You can miss it driving by, but it's easy to circle the block. The smell helps lead the way. However, once inside, the smoke smell is a bit too strong. It smells more like campfire than barbeque. It appears to be an original brick building, which I think is great. The area is getting a face lift, but this place isn't changing a thing. So, "Dad" it seems, was from Miississippi, so the foods have that bent. I kept it simple and got the "ribs" for lunch with a side of mac salad, with a can or "orange" soda. That's a couple ribs and some little bits, nice scope of mac salad, some wheat bread, and a can of Sunkist with a cup and ice. $11. It as all ok. Not bad or great. I didn't like that they have the lunch deal Mon - Thur when I show up on Fri. Boo. Also, the menu shows an item called "beef". Nots sure that can be more vague. How about "animal flesh" or "cow"? I was looking for brisket. Maybe that's what "beef" was. Maybe not. I'll never know. This place was my second choice, and will probably always be second when I'm around here for lunch. Service was pretty quick and friendly enough for me. read more

Hidden local gem. Tri tip was excellent as well as the ribs. Great BBG sauce added to the smoked flavor. Don't leave without an order of the greens. Give Dads a try when in Pittsburg. read more

I'm pretty reserved about BBQ. There are just so many styles; it's really tough to compare - say Carolina BBQ to Texas BBQ. Is Kenny's on Capitol Hill, DC better than Bobby's World Famous BBQ in Fayetteville, NC? Got me - they're both great - but they are totally different. Tomato based sauce verses mustard & vinegar sauce - who can objectively call that? OK, that said - Dad's is the best I've had in the East Bay and, without a doubt, in the top 5% of everything I've had worldwide. Yeah, yeah - Everett & Jones - Bo's - no doubt, they're good stuff. But bottom line is that eating at Dad's is like going from Junior Varsity to Pro. The BBQ sauce is phenomenal - no exaggeration. Perfect balance of heat and sweet. Ribs: The level of doneness verses over-doneness is so fine that they appear to have had an electron scanning microscope at hand to help decide when they were ready to serve. Crazy mix of chewy tips/outer layers and moist heart inner sections. Crazy good. Chicken & Brisket: Outstanding - moist and full of smoked flavor. Wings are crispy even when BBQ slathered. You may not agree with me - but let me tell you - it will set you back no more than the cost of a Jack London Square meal at Everett & Jones to drive out to Pittsburg and give Dad's a shot (Gas, Food & Booze included). Try it - I'll wager that you'll become a regular. I did. By the by - try the sweet potato pie. Once you do, have someone stick a fork in you - because you'll be done. read more

First time eating at Dad's Bbq. It was recommended by my neighbor. We were discussing food establishments and this restaurant came up. The place is clean, friendly service, and great food! Ribs are meaty and well-seasoned! The sides were tasty and dessert just as good. My family will return! Sorry no pics available because we ate it all:) read more

I'm back home for a couple days and wanted to try something that we didn't have in El Paso, and we don't have good bbq there. This place was .5 miles from where I'm staying and it was suggested to me. I must say they did not disappoint. I got 3 plates 2 were tri tip and chicken, with mac and cheese green beans and beans, one plate had links ribs and tri tip with potato salad and green beans. I didn't try the links or ribs but the person who got that plate really liked it. The tri tip and chicken were both really good! The sauce for everything was mild and they had enough drizzled over but it was so good I wanted more. The plates all come with 2 slices of bread but that wasn't enough lol not the restaurant fault I'm just a psycho. The beans and green beans were really good! The flavor on both were on point. The mac and cheese was good but had too much black pepper for me, and the potato salad was just not good. It had a weird tangy like taste which was a no for me. We ordered over the phone for pick up so it was ready when I got there. They are not accepting dine in so there were a few people waiting for their orders in the car but like I said I preordered so we just walked in, paid and left. The young lady who took my payment didn't look like she wanted to be at work. She huffed and puffed when I went to pay my tab, not sure if I walked up at the wrong moment or what but like i said I just paid my tab and left. Longer story short when I'm in town again I will DEFINITELY order again ! read more

A lot of people complain about the ambiance and the service of this place and to that we say: get over yourself. No, there is no mood lighting or music and the staff aren't going to greet you like it's Disneyland but it's FANTASTIC BBQ. Isn't that why you are going there after all? We have tried Texas Roadhouse, Dickeys, Back 40 and we would pick this place hands down over any of them any day. For the price it is a LARGE amount of food. We can barely walk out of the front when we are done. Who ever says that the portions are small must be a competitive eater. Go to Dads, especially if you live in pittsburg and only go downtown to eat at the Mecca. read more

Ehhhh it was ok. Nothing to write home about. I have to say I was disappointed when I arrived to find that they'd run out of ribs at 1:00 on a Wednesday! Really?? Instead I get a "3 way combo" (double tri-tip, instead of ribs), chicken, links, Baked beans and potatoe salad. The flavor of the meats were alright, but the meat itself was dry. All but the links seemed as if was overcooked and covered with sauce. The potatoe salad was ok. The baked beans were a bit too sweet for my liking. Overall I think this place may be a bit overpriced for what I experienced. Maybe one day I might go back and try the ribs, but it won't be anytime soon. read more

Well, I finally did it. I've been wanting to try this place since C&C's closed. PROS: the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hot barbecue sauce is very tasty. Honestly, I would go back for the sauce alone (it was rather thick, though -FYI if this is not your thing). They served breast and leg pieces when I ordered chicken. CONS: the sides (baked beans, potato or macaroni salad) and links did not appear to be homemade. VERDICT: it'll do in a pinch. I will DEFINITELY go back & buy some of their sauce for my next cookout...mmmm... read more

LOVED this place!! my husband and i recently moved to concord and one day just decided to go for a very random drive, having no destination in mind. we knew we wanted to stop for lunch somewhere and being 9 months pregnant i had been craving BBQ so when we saw this place we had to stop!. it was absolutely fantastic. we had the nicest waitress and the food was perfect. the ribs were fall off the bones and the flavor was great. i ordered the medium spice and let me tell you, it was HOT! i'll go with the mild next time but i can't wait to go back when I have another good BBQ craving read more

We ordered the fried catfish (it was the cheapest priced at the time) since we were vendors at the Pittsburg Seafood Festival we were hungry and most food was overpriced. The catfish was bland, flavorless, and pretty chewy, as were the fries (How the hell do you mess up fries??). Had to get salt and pepper to even experience any sort of flavor. Not to mention all day they were blasting some of the most ignorant rap music I have heard in awhile whilst small children and their parents were passing through. This is a coming from a rap fan. read more

I was craving some BBQ last night, and my girlfriend suggested Dads. We pulled up, and on first impression, I wasn't impressed. There logo/signage was very basic and didn't resemble anything relating to BBQ. Its just and chef's hat, with the Dads in the middle. We were served promptly, but without a smile. I was digging the old school, down home BBQ vibe, lines of white bread, checkered table clothes, and sit down counter. I ordered the combo, with pork ribs, chicken, beans, and potato salad. My girlfriend got the gumbo. While we where waiting, I noticed they where using no name GENERIC BBQ SAUCE. I also couldn't stop staring at the photos of their banana pudding, and cobbler. It just looked messy, and unappetizing. The gumbo was on point, but I wish they didn't use those small frozen shrimp. My food (combo) was average, and so were the portions. I was expecting more considering I paid $15 for it and was only offered three side options, macaroni, potato salad, and baked beans. I would have been happier if I could have chosen the Mac n cheese or the greens considering the price, and that I wasn't paying for the atmosphere, looked more like a take out place. I might come back, but if your looking for some better BBQ, just drive to Oakland, or even Bone heads in Lafayette. read more

I'am a fan of barbecue-if its not beef kabobs, i'll take some ribs!! So lately i've been craving BBQ but had yet to find a place here in the Eastbay that had such joints. I'm not talking about your average chain BBQ eateries, i much perfer the 'mom & pops' type of eateries for my barbecue needs if i'm not actually AT a BBQ. So, after researching yelp & asking a Pittsburg native, i decided to give Dad's a go. Located in downtown Pittsburgh, Dad's BBQ is a well kept family-owned business. Beef, ribs, pork, chicken with typical side dishes including french fries, green beans, mac salads & deserts including peach cobler, banana pudding, & sweet potatoe pie slices. I thought it was interesting that the menu featured the owners family members names next to their choice of their favorite dishes, all of which they serve here. Customer service was very fast & personable. The prices are moderate considering how much they give you. i had the beef sandwich-mild sauce w/ a side of mac salad. Not too fond of the mac salad but the bbq beef really hit the spot-neither burnt nor dry which i was happy about. The sauce was sweet for being mild which was good. I walked out a little too full. I would definitely come here again once the craving for BBQ arises again! read more

The staff is great professional and polite. The sauce for the ribs was watery and salty along with the greens being, the mac & cheese was not freshly made it was old. Purchase peach cobbler and it was nothing but sweet dough only about 5 peaches in the smallest container that could be purchased. The portion sizes were great! A big difference in the portion sizes from when they were on Railroad, they have the potential of being a 5 Star spot. Would I go back, yes I would to see if these improvements were made we love supporting local restaurants. read more
