It is hard to find good Italian food in North Carolina. As with most Carolina Italian restaurants, this misses the mark a bit. Visually the restaurant is pretty and contemporary European. Love the look in fact! We went to lunch there today. My friend had the baked rotini special and my other friend and I split two of the appetizers . My friends Rotini needed more cheese and sauce. She thought it was pretty bland. The two appetizers we ordered were the calamari and German Pizza. The German Pizza was basically a Rubin on a pizza dough. The calamari looked wonderful, but the taste was non- existent. I never thought I would say this but the breading was TOO light and airy. The calamari taste was invisible. The Rubin Pizza also had a too light and airy pizza crust with no substance. I think this restaurant looks beautiful and the food is presented beautifully, it just all around lacks taste and flavor profiles. read more

My wife and stopped by here this afternoon for some spaghetti. It is almost impossible to find decent spaghetti in Burlington. We were both thoroughly impressed with the restaurant, the cleanliness, the waitstaff, the food, the whole nine yards. Appetizer was calamari, which was obviously breaded in house and was delicious. The Caesar salad was fresh and crisp, with a delightful dressing that complimented rather than overpowered the greens. The Spaghetti was fantastic. Just the right amount of sauce, noodles cooked to perfection, wonderful flavor and texture. We were unable to try the desserts because we were both full, with enough in the to-go box for another meal, portions were huge. Note to self, order the luncheon size next time. We will work our way through this menu over the next few months. This place is solid. read more

Honestly a waste of money! I got a take out order of lasagna and a side Caesar salad. The lasagna meat tasted cheap... like what they use to make Taco Bell ground beef. The sauce was cheap... no depth in flavor. The Caesar dressing (if you can call it that) was just weird tasting. I had to add Italian dressing to my salad just to eat it with that awful dressing. Overall for a 15.00 lasagna it was not worth it. I noticed that this place is sometimes decent and other times pretty bad. I've always loved this place until last Saturday night. What should've been a wonderful evening turned sour when the manager attempted to extort nearly $800 from our party for the private room. Our party of 34 only spent a measly $750. We were accused of lying about a supposed agreement and then the entire party was charged a 30% fee and banned from the restaurant... Not that we'd ever return after that. Very bittersweet as we've always loved eating here. So sad. read more

We went for an early dinner and had the 2 specials. They were absolutely wonderful!! Prompt service by a friendly waitress as well as a visit to our table by the owner and chef (of course at 4PM they weren't too busy!) They were being featured on WFMY-TV that night and we were able to watch the filming as they pointed out their unusual pizzas and other standard menu items. We went for my wife's birthday, 2 days before Valentine's day. We had reserved a table overlooking the terrace and away from traffic. Even though this put us by the emergency exit, the decor and the ambience was fantastic. It was busy, but not unbareablely so in our little tucked away corner. We arrived about 15 minutes early expecting to have a chance to really take in the restaurant, but they had our table set up and ready already, with lit candle included. It was great. To start, the waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and on point. She helped my non-alcohol drinking girl have her first good glass of wine(she made it two by the end). She helped us pair wines and even let us taste several. I will address her more later. The calamari was amazing. Light, airy, not rubbery at all, with a light drizzle of hollandaise sauce and a dipping sauce that complimented it beautifully. We ordered two different salads(tossed and antipasto). Both were fresh, balanced and delicious. The antipasto comes with a vinaigrette traditionally, and I kept it that way. The tossed had a choice of 6 in house made. SIX made in house. My wife tried the "Hot Bacon", the only non-traditional option. You will NOT regret this. Our first round of garlic knots were a tad undercooked, but too delicious not to finish. The second round was perfect. Dinner was veal parm for me, lasagna with two meatballs added on for her. I believe timing the two was an issue because my veal was near burnt and very dry. Without even questioning me more than "are you okay?", my waitress went and had them refire the whole thing. It was PHENOMENAL. I hate sending food back...but they did me right that second time. The waitress handled the problem with grace, no attitude, was appropriately apologetic. She kept our wine and water flowing. My wife was enjoying her lasagna so much she could not stop raving about it. She let me try part of one meatball. Oh my god....the meatballs. I will come back for the meatballs...they are just amazing. Light, fluffy, well seasoned. Beautiful. I could eat those everyday. With the reasonable prices here....I would WANT to budget it in every month. They do not charge tax on alcohol, and with reasonable prices and three glasses of wine, our bill was just over $60. Even with a tax of $2.77, our waitress got a $20 tip. From waitstaff to ambience to decor and the food(oh the food........yummm), this place defied the expectations of the grandson of an Italian restauranteur and a Sicilian woman in love with fine cuisine. We WILL be returning. My only complaint is that the women get changing tables, but men to not. But that is a standard problem across the board so no points deducted in my eyes. My wife is a disabled vet, so if we had brought the little one, I would have been forced to use one of the(thankfully single and lockable) ladies rooms. Da Vinci's Table has been serving Italian food and some American specialties - such as burgers - in Burlington, North Carolina since 2010. It features a nice outdoor dining area as well as an inside dining room that has the classic feel of an older Italian restaurant. Most nice Italian restaurants will provide their patrons with bread and oil to begin their meal, but da Vinci's Table takes it to another level by serving garlic knots at the beginning of meals at no additional charge. I enjoyed the garlic knots, and they were certainly a nice treat beyond the standard bread and oil. Da Vinci's Table has some specialty pizzas, and you can also create your own on their thin or deep dish crust. I ordered the Leonardo's Sicilian Special which is described as "da Vinci's own special recipe deep dish with lots of sausage and pepperoni, smothered with extra cheese." As a fatty from the Midwest, I would argue that this pizza is more of a pan pizza as opposed to a true deep dish, but I still liked the light pan crust that had an airy crunch on the edges. The sausage and pepperoni were good, and the pepperoni specifically had a nice spice to it. I wouldn't describe the pizza as having been smothered with extra cheese, but, again, that may be because of my fatty Midwest roots. All things considered, da Vinci's Table is really good option for Italian in Burlington, and I consider it to be a pretty good option for pizza. read more

The atmosphere was great. Maybe that set me up for disappointment. I should have left early. The tables were sticky, the wait staff could not pronounce items on the menu, but I thought I'd give it a chance. I ordered chicken cacciatore and my daughter ordered eggplant parmigiana. The sad salad arrived first. It was an iceberg lettuce salad with a few slivers of carrots and a single slice of a mealy Roma tomato. I'm glad I was hungry, because I ate the salad... and that was the highlight of the meal. When the entrees arrived.. I could not tell the parm from the cacciatore. (really) All you could see was a pile of noodles and some item covered in tomato sauce. The tomato sauce had no flavor. I've had better from a jar. The chicken was somewhat processed. The pasta was no better than what I make at home. I expect cacciatore chicken to be a whole piece of meat, browned to crispy served with delicious sautéed veggies and a tomato wine sauce. This tasted like a chicken patty from the freezer, covered in Ragu (the kind from the jar) with some added mushrooms on a bed of cheap spaghetti. There was no fat or flavor from the chicken, which should be the star of the dish. The eggplant was not better. I suspect that the portion of eggplant parm was reheated in a microwave, placed on a bed of pasta and then smothered in cheap sauce. Really, if you are a foodie, or even have a good palate, avoid this place. The atmosphere alone cannot save this place. I really question anyone's taste who finds this to be quality food. I have to agree with PatrickP and TravisC. Mediocre at best. Look for great Italian fare elsewhere! read more

Our experience at DaVinci's was terrible. We had seen great reviews online and figured it would be a good choice for dinner after graduation. We were wrong. The food seemed like microwave dinners served from the freezer section of Harris Teeter. We have been to Italian restaurants all over the U.S. and this was the furthest thing from "fine dining". Nothing was customizable either. I will never forget when I asked for penne pasta and they said they only have spaghetti. What?? An italian restaurant only has one type of pasta?? The veal parmesan looked like a deep fried loaf of bread. I have never seen something like it. Barely any sauce and certainly not how it should be made. I do have to give DaVinci's credit for a nice atmosphere and decor but I wish they would learn how to cook Italian "fine dining". Definitely go somewhere else for a graduation dinner! Lovely setting and gracious staff. The menu lacked many of my Italian favorites and the specials were not Italian at all. The food was not up to par. Cesar salad with just romaine and croutons lacked flavor. Veal parmigiana was overcooked and burnt on edges. Spaghetti was mushy and sauce was bland with almost no meat in it. Garlic knot needed more garlic and less grease. Chocolate peanut butter pie was the best part of the meal. read more

Excellent food, reasonably priced with a nice atmosphere. The entry was a little crowded and confusing but cleared quickly. Only disappointment was they were "out of" the garlic knots that had been so highly praised in other posts. This was at 8pm on a Saturday so that is a little hard to understand. Great great option to the plethora of chains in the area. My family had a decent meal here. It started out rough. I didn't feel like the server was personable at all. He warmed up a bit towards the end. That was a little disappointing. Nonetheless, the food is on point. Hot bacon dressing: yum yum yum!!! We started off with salads. My aunts said their Caesar salads were delicious. I had the mesclun salad. Really good. We also ordered the bruschetta which at first glance I thought would not be tasty...but turns out it was tasty. My grandmother started to order another order of it. My nephew had the pizza and literally ate the entire thing by himself at the table...the twelve inch. Two ppl in our party had the veal parmigiana. My aunt had the lasagna and I had the special---salmon with herb risotto. My salmon was overlooked but overall a decent meal. I really love eating here. The pasta is always great, the service is always impeccable and they always seem to have some sort of signature diner item. I really recommend you try the Alfredo pasta and add chicken to it(I usually get keep mine blackened).
