We went on a Friday for an early dinner. Our drinks were great (especially loved their glassware), and we were huge fans of the focaccia and baked Brie. However, the dishes we ordered as entrees were lackluster. I got the steak and gnocchi dish. It was advertised as being served with steak sauce, but instead, the sauce was much more like a jammy barbecue -- very off-putting. The steak was served well done, and the gnocchi was doughy. I am a huge fan of both steak and gnocchi, and it doesn't take much to impress me with either, but this was pretty bad. A friend got the chicken cassoulet, which was fine, but a bit bland. Another member of our party got the pork belly and said it was delicious! The service was good, and we were very pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, especially as it got closer to time for the live music to start. The place filled up with a crowd of regulars, and it was a fun group. This was our first time in Burlington, and Tanner's definitely made it memorable. We will be back! read more

We booked a last-minute reservation at Tanner's wine bar for the Prix Fixe Valentines dinner and it did not disappoint. Our server was very friendly, although not the most attentive. It took quite awhile for service and she did not see me trying to get her attention several times. While it can be easy to focus in on the task at hand, from a former server to another, one should probably scan all of your tables when you're out on the floor, especially when it's not busy. The ambience at Tanner's is upscale moody and romantic with soaring dark walls and cozy partially enclosed pillowy booths and velvet chairs. The entertainment for the evening was tasteful selections from two gentlemen who were very personable and played an excellent mix of jazzy tunes that livened up the evening without being loud and intrusive. The food was good though not as wholly impressive as I remember (they have amazing deviled eggs!). The shaved beef tenderloin with the amuse bouche polenta canapé was extremely chewy almost to the point of being inedible. The smoked salmon panzanella salad was the highlight of the meal because of the quality and delightfully complex intense smokiness of the salmon itself. The flavors of the white wine and pecorino truly complemented the scallops, though they were slightly undercooked. Overall, it was a nice evening and I look forward to trying more from the menu on another visit. read more

This place truly a hidden gem. It's small, intimate with a vibe! The seating is very cozy and comfy. There's seating at the bar. An area for larger groups is also available. They have a nice drink menu. Food is small plate. Our server was absolutely amazing! Our drinks were absolutely DELISH! We enjoyed a charcuterie board. The food was DELICIOUS.. left us wishing it was served as an entree. We enjoyed dessert as well. We will definitely be back! read more

This was a nice little spot on a Friday night to meet up with some friends. They had a band playing live music, some popular songs most people would recognize, and although we were seated pretty close to the musicians we were still able to have a conversation. I ordered a glass of wine, red blend and it was very nice and smooth. My husband ordered a beer, they only have a couple of craft selections but that makes sense, it's a wine bar. I was starving so we ordered a couple of appetizers, the Baked Brie with crackers and the Crab Cakes. Here is where I think they should make an adjustment, the prices are a little steep for the amount of food we got and the food was kind of hit or miss. There were 2 small crab cakes and a couple sprigs of lettuce for $16. I didn't feel that was worth it. The Brie with crackers was just ok, I was expecting it to be melted inside but it wasn't. Our friends ordered the Fromage & Charcuterie and that was a pretty substantial plate and it was delicious, I think it was around $26. I would probably go with that if I were to come back. The service was good, although I felt a little rushed at the end, like they were ready for us to go. I don't think it was even 9:30 and they don't close until 10:00 so I'm not sure why we were rushed, but we just picked up and left. read more

I saw their Latin music Jazz event on Social media and we made a reservation. This place is perfect to enjoy a date night. We ordered the flight of three wines (Chilean wine). The menu is full of great options to try. We ordered a few items to share. The food was EXQUISITE! The best artichoke dish I've ever had and will definitely return to have some more. We had a splendid time enjoying live music. The ambiance enhances the romantic atmosphere. And our server was amazing. One of the best restaurants in Burlington. Five star rating for sure! read more

A friend and I decided to hit up Tanner's for dinner after plant shopping yesterday afternoon. I had been there Tuesday for an Elite event and I was sure she would love it. I was not wrong. Wednesdays mean flights and flights mean 3 pours of 3 ounces, one after the other of wines that aren't on the regular menu. This week was Spanish reds and they were all really delicious. Vivino says they are all @$25 bottle. So, $18 for the flight for 9 ounces really didn't seem extravagant. The Cheese and Charcuterie Board is a design-it-yourself arrangement. You choose 2 or 4 of a large selection of cheeses and meats, and a couple of extras like olives, honey or whole grain mustard. And you can add some extras for an addition cost like deviled eggs or smoked salmon. (Their deviled eggs are awesome.) The Bananas Foster cannoli was stellar and the Meyer lemon tart was sublime. The grilled artichoke hearts were out of this world, too. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about everything they serve. I'm excited about the Thursday night jazz. I expect they'll start recognizing my face fairly soon. read more

Don't go before 7:30! We had a reservation for 6:00 pm and the door was locked upon arrival. We called to get in and were greeted by the hostess who proceeded to work on her laptop for the rest of our service. Our waitress was good and the food was good (small portions though), we just felt rushed to leave. read more

This was our first time here and we came for Valentine's Day. Such a cute and intimate spot for a date night! They had a prix fixe menu but usually the menu appears to have tapas and charcuterie. The food was amazing and the wine pairings complimented well!! The chicken dip was a highlight but we wish it came with more baguette pieces. The short ribs and scallops were both very yummy! Portions were on the smaller side but the quality was exceptional. The crème brûlée had raspberry on top and inside...so good! I would love to try this spot on a normal night..I'm sure it is just as amazing! read more

Service was excellent. Wine and drinks, nice options but a very small wine pour. If it was 4oz I would be surprised. Others at the table agreed. Food excellent in flavor and uniqueness. My reason for the soft rating, the price point to amount of food was.. high prices to minimal portions. The night I was there they were not busy thus my surprise on the status/ cleanliness of the restroom. Someone else in my party made the same comment. All they needed to do was Insert the paper towles and empty the trash, these things matter when paying $13 for a drink. Again food excellent, just not a lot... stuffed mushrooms outstanding, but small and there were three! Had to ask for crackers to for a cheese plate. Everything about this experience was on point. My friend order a flight of wine and I order a class of cider with a charcuterie board. I love a good charcuterie board and this one was certainly good. It has meats, cheeses, nuts, chocolate, and honey. There was also jazz music playing (I love jazz) and the decor was lovely. The server was also very nice, friendly, and helpful. A great little downtown gem with an elegant space. Perfect for a girls night, date night, or just a casual glass of wine. Called on 3 different occasions - once to make the reservation, once to confirm it and again to say we were running a few minutes late - each time, a very surly hostess took my call. When we arrived, they said that our reservation had been cancelled and showed me the Resy system where I had supposedly cancelled. I never used the Resy system to make the reservation, nor did I ever cancel it through Resy. In fact, my Resy account shows NO sign of any activity with Tanner's Wine Bar. No apology was ever offered. Rather than going elsewhere because it was graduation weekend and there no other options, we stayed. Two hours later and $340 later (for 6 people), we all left hungry (Small Plates should be renamed Tiny Plates)and had to resort to snacks in the room and Popeyes. Found this cute place downtown Burlington. It is a real gem. It has upscale feel without being pretentious. We ordered champagne cocktails to start, which were great. The charcuterie and cheese board was fantastic. Generous portions and price on par with others I have ordered. The staff was knowledgeable and very friendly. I highly recommend the Tanner's Wine Bar.
