We were in town for a concert at the Haw River Ballroom. We decided to have dinner at The Eddy Pub beforehand, and we're so glad we did! The setting is absolutely beautiful. Nestled along the river, it has such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. The food was just as impressive. My parents both ordered the burger with fries, and they couldn't stop talking about how juicy and flavorful the burgers were. The fries were fresh, hand-cut, and perfectly cooked. I had the chicken tortilla soup, and it was delicious, comforting, and flavorful. The service was friendly and attentive. The Eddy Pub exceeded our expectations. Between the beautiful setting, great food, and excellent service, it's absolutely worth the trip. We'll definitely be back the next time we're anywhere near the area! read more

True to my word (see review from January 2025), we gave this place another try - this time for a lunch for four. Three of us had sandwiches or wraps, and the fourth had a salad. The sandwiches were delicious, though difficult to eat as the breading kept falling off of the fried chicken since it was a bit too thick. The salad looked disappointing, though our guest is not one to complain. The fried halloumi cheese was too heavily breaded - at a proportion of almost 1:1 cheese:breading. Service remains sketchy. Unsweet teas were (eventually) refilled, but with sweet tea, etc. It's the only game in town, really. But if they want people to drive to Saxapahaw, they may want to up their game if possible. read more

I was excited to finally try this spot! It's located above Haw River Ballroom so it's a perfect one to check out if you're seeing a show there. I loved how bright and open the restaurant was, and they had some really healthy plants all around the space. It's a huge pet peeve of mine if a place doesn't take care of their plants so I appreciated and noticed that! The food and drinks were delicious. I ordered the Sesame Shrimp Stir-fry and was super impressed at how flavorful it was! Definitely would order that dish again. My friends both enjoyed their dishes as well. We had a great brunch experience at The Eddy! We stopped in on a Saturday when exploring the area and were sat immediately. Our waitress, Hailey, greeted us right away and was on it! We each ordered the Skillet and it came out very quick. Everything was hot, crispy, and delicious! The gravy had great, peppery flavor and was a nice sauce for the bowl. We both agreed that it could use one more element, maybe a salsa? Overall, it was so yummy! I love that it comes with a side of greens to break up that richness. Stopped in for a quick brunch at The Eddy Pub and was so impressed! We were seated immediately even with a packed restaurant and the server was at our table in seconds. Our food was out in less than 10 minutes and was piping hot. The skillet was a mountain of home fries covered with sausage gravy, crumbled sausage and bacon topped with a perfectly cooked egg. My recent visit to The Eddy Pub was wonderful, so I am bumping my rating from 4 stars to 5. I've always loved the atmosphere and friendly service, but the food had been a bit hit or miss for me on previous visits. This time around, I had their pretzels for an appetizer and the grilled salmon which comes with basmati rice, grilled asparagus, and a delicious creamy sauce for my main. The pretzels were just the right amount of salty and chewy, served with honey mustard and spicy stone ground mustard for dipping. Everything about the salmon entree was perfect! The salmon was fresh, well-seasoned, and moist. The asparagus and rice were great additions, and I loved the sauce. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos, but it was a beautiful presentation. For dessert I had their berry turnover with vanilla ice cream and berry compote. It was equally amazing. The flakiness of the pastry was outstanding and the whole dish was sweet without being cloyingly so. All in all, the whole night was fantastic and I look forward to returning again soon. For a Saturday night, the restaurant was not very crowded or noisy, though this may be due to the fact that Saturdays in Saxapahaw have not started yet nor was there a show that evening at The Haw River Ballroom. You might not imagine that a pub would have good breakfast options, but The Eddy does. You can get shrimp and grits, you can get a breakfast sandwich, or you can go for something more traditional like an omelette. Service is quick and no nonsense. They have comfortable seating outdoors, and ample amounts of it. The views are also quite pretty. Breakfast sandwich was pretty standard, with some ham, an egg done sunny side up and some bacon. They use a brioche bun, so you get a little bit of sweet and savory in your sandwich. The potatoes are nice because they have crumbled bacon in them and a nice paprika seasoning, but they were a little bit light on salt, so I might recommend getting some on the side. read more

Great location, but is the food slipping a little lately? Couple weeks ago, I got a salad with rice noodles. The noodles were brittle. I sent them back, something I rarely do (but they were inedible :/), and what I got back was still crunchy. Yesterday, I had the catfish tacos. The catfish filets were about the size of my finger, more breading than fish. And the soft tacos were cold. Hope it's only temporary. read more

We wanted to grab something to eat after staying in Mebane overnight, and as usual, my wife did her research. She chose the Eddy because it looked like just the kind of place we love. Excellent food in a quaint small town and within a renovated commercial building in an area we had not yet explored. We arrived in the small community of Saxapahaw which sits on the edge of the Haw river. We pulled up on the building that houses the Eddy Pub and immediately thought it was very cool. Without knowing the history of the building at the time, it appeared to be an old mill of some sort. As I said, my wife had done her research and learned it was highly recommended to make a reservation on the weekend especially. She was able to easily make a reservation early that same morning for 10am when they opened. We walked in a few minutes early and appeared to be the first customers of the day. We provided our name for the reservation and were immediately seated within this beautiful and cool space. We were told their menu was offered via QR code but were also asked if we would like a printed menu as well, which we appreciated. We were sat at a table for two against a wall of windows adjacent to an outdoor patio area. We began looking over the menu when our drink orders were taken by two young ladies, one of which was training the other. I tend to order lunch items while my wife enjoys breakfast and the brunch menu offered several great options for each of us. My wife chose the ---- omelette with fresh fruit as well as the biscuit with jelly while I chose the ----- hamburger with fries. We also ordered the pimento cheese fries which were highly recommended via the Yelp reviews. The pimento cheese fries arrived shortly after and looked delicious! We also liked the fact they were served in a small cast iron pan. Perfectly prepared, they were crisp and flavorful. We also noticed a small bottle on our table without a label and inquired with our servers. They told us it was a chipotle hot sauce. It looked great so we decided to give it a try. We really enjoyed it and did not find it too hot. We also learned this is one of the products available for purchase. Needless to say, a bottle came home with us. Our meals arrived a short time later and also looked fantastic. My wife enjoyed her omelette packed with lots of ingredients and the fresh fruit was great also. She also really enjoyed the biscuit with homemade jelly, she said it was perfect! My burger and fries was also very good. Our servers, were also extremely attentive and friendly. I've been spending a lot of time in my home county this past week so I've gotten to enjoy a load of my favorite spots.The Eddy never disappoints! My husband joined me on this trip. Being British, he of course took advantage of the shepherds pie that was the special of the night. I had the pot roast with horseradish creamed potatoes. As we typically do we ended up sharing both plates. So delicious! I love how they use local ingredients when they can, you really can taste the difference. It's how we eat at home so it's nice to be able to go to a restaurant and eat food of the same quality. We had excellent service, which is the norm. They really know how to take care of you here! Super spacious however make a reservation if you can because this is a very popular spot! Make sure to take time to Peru's around at the other places in this little shopping area. The Eddy is a really cool spot in an old converted mill. The building itself is fascinating - didn't get to explore all of the tenants & business, but it seems well worth doing. I love the idea behind The Eddy - they list the sources & local farms behind their ingredients: very admirable stuff. The atmosphere is low-key casual, with a little bit of 'hip' thrown in. The service was good - a few people teaming together to serve the tables. The beers and drink were also pretty good - I imagine some come from the brewery on the lower level of the building. We stopped at the Eddy Pub while searching for a quick lunch during a recent road trip to the Durham area. My friend had brunch here before and she recommended it. The atmosphere was nice. It gave me tree house vibes. There were plants everywhere and loads of wood. My friend got the House Pretzel with the Beer Cheese as a starter. The Beer Cheese was kinda strange. I felt that it was more like Big Mac sauce to me than any beer cheese I've had before. My friends weren't impressed either. We all ordered sandwiches for our entrees. My friends got the Mini Burger add fries and the Buffalo Fried Chicken Sandwich and fries. I got the Grilled Farm Burger and fries. I asked for the mango chutney on the side, no Mayo and added onions. There was an up charge for the onions because they are locally sourced. The mango chutney was good with the fries. I had some left over and spread it on the sandwich. I couldn't really taste it because of the Lusty Monk mustard. The burger was super juicy and had good flavor to the meat. Service was standard. Cute pub with lots of outdoor seating. Unfortunately, without a reservation we were stuck on the outdoor patio that had zero shade. It got pretty toasty under the direct sun and all we could do was about 45 minutes with a little sunburn. The service was friendly but the food wasn't very good. We only got a couple appetizers to share while we sipped on our drinks. The warm green goddess spinach dip had an odd flavor. It almost tasted like it had cinnamon in it and that's just not a flavor one expects with spinach dip nor was it a welcome flavor for a dip. Then there was our house pretzel with cheese dip. The pretzel was just fine, can't really go wrong with a pretzel but the beer cheese was oddly chunky. It was as if it had curdled. Not good. I have been coming to the Eddy since 2014, and this sounds cliche, but it's not what it used to be. First, we were greeted by someone who had no people skills. They were overly concerned with reservations and less concerned about the customer. Yellow jackets were all over the place and it made it uncomfortable to sit outdoors, which is the best part. The soup was delivered without a spoon and the wait staff were casually enjoying side conversations. The water smells like fishing water; I couldn't get passed the smell. I ordered a sake and ginger beer. It was watery and flat. My friends beer was flat. They admitted to an issue with the keg and offered a new drink, but they never came back to fulfill their promise. The atmosphere was meh. If you come, go to the bar for faster service. People walked in 10 minutes after us and had food and drinks well before we did- with a reservation. On the menu, the items seem on the sophisticated cheffy side such as mango salsa/chutney on the burger but then the burger kind of just tasted like it had a sweet ketchup which was good. The sauces all seemed homemade which means the "ketchup" tasted like a smooth house tomato condiment, not Heinz; the honey mustard was amazing with a bite; the tartar sauce was not out of a bottle but had a fresh possibly sour cream base, very good; hot sauce spicy and flavorful. The Saturday afternoon was not busy though the whole plaza area was busy perhaps with hikers and wedding guests for the next-door venue. The service was a little unprofessional but ultimately good. We had to ask for our bill and the table clearing was late though did not bother our enjoyment. Great location with the shops to walk through and the next-door brewery. read more

The French dip comes with a mustard sauce on the bun which cuts through what can be a heavier sandwich! Au jus was absolutely divine! The Brussels sprouts were the highlight for me! They were prepared tender crisp, can't wait to go back and have those again We also had their Fall Sangria, this is a delight as well. We ordered online for a Sunday pickup at around Noon. The order process was super simple. Paid with a credit card. Called when we got there and someone brought our order out to our car. We were headed to a picnic and when we arrived we didn't have any napkins OR utensils !! Didn't think that was something you had to ask for , but keep that in mind if you are eating your to go food in a TO GO place ! All of the food we had was tasty. I had the Korean beef sandwich. Hubby had the fish (catfish) and chips. My daughter and her BF split a burger and the BLAT. They said all was tasty. Hubby ate his coke slaw with his fingers. Not the best .......... I really had high expectations for this place based on prior reviews and photos. However, upon arrival our waitress was rude and not friendly, along with being non- attentive. One of our friends ordered grits and asked for a spoon several times so that he could eat them. He was never brought a spoon and ultimately ended up eating cold grits with a coffee spoon. Some of our friends ordered pancakes and it does not come with syrup. You must pay $2 for a small cup of syrup (photo attached). On Sunday's this place does not serve alcohol until 12p, even though bloody Mary's are on the brunch menu. There is not disclaimer that you cannot order alcohol until 12p. I wish the waitress would have been nicer when we attempted to order a drink. She immediately got defensive and an attitude. We didn't know.... Also we were then told we had a time constraint and needed to order ASAP. We were not aware that we had a time constraint when we made the reservation and would have made it for a different time if we had been aware of a time constraint. A total bust! Recognizing it was Mother's Day, we made a reservation and specifically asked not to be near the kitchen. We asked to be outside. I was assured we could when we arrived. We were seated next to the kitchen! I asked the hostess if we could move she said it was that table or it's under the music , we decided to stay where we were. When my daughter ordered, she told the waitress she was allergic to all onions. The first thing she ordered contained onions and the waitress came back and told her that so she ordered a breakfast sandwich which was so small the size of a dinner roll. We waited almost 55 minutes for our order. We were all served cold omelettes, and the sandwich contain onions. We left! Avoid this place as it's really gone down hill read more

Our food was amazing. We brought guests with us and boy were they wowed! Everyone loved the taste of their food. We miss the tacos removed from the menu and prefer the previous menu to the new one; however, the burgers were so lean it was the first time my husband and I could eat hamburgers without any indigestion. What was as sweet as the delicious homemade key lime pie was our server Chasity! Our original server left without telling us her shift was up, that she enjoyed meeting us and that we would be in great hands with Chasity. (I recommend that step be included in the duties of all servers.) Chasity walked up and told us she would be taking care of us for the rest of our meal. Neither of the two servers knew that one of the individuals at our table was fighting a serious cancer. Chasity was like an Angel who offered a bubbly personality, and amazing service. She is one of the best servers we have met at this restaurant--although they all are good. As we were leaving, we walked to the patio to view the river -- Chasity came along and took a group photo for us with our phones. Praying to God it won't be the last time we all are together. But even if it was, our memories from today will last forever. First time here and I think I found a gem! We were in for a late lunch. We sat outside on the patio, even though they did have seating available in the dining room. The staff wore masks and were wonderful. We had two servers helping us and they were both very friendly. The view on the rooftop patio is awesome and unique. They have herbs and plants growing on it. So cool. There drink menu is expansive. I wasn't planning on having a drink until I saw all the different sake options they had. I was so surprised. They even had a sake mojito! I'll have to try that next time. I got a can of the Yomi Sake, my friend got a glass of white wine, and my other friend ordered a beer. All drinks were great! We also all ordered the grilled farm burger with a side of pimento cheese fries and we also got the house pretzel. The burgers did not come out with the temperatures we requested, but they were still delicious. The table favorite was defintiely the skillet of pimento cheese fries and the house made ketchup. Well first off we had reservations. When seated you have the table for 90 minutes. Talk about pressure. They came over almost immediately for our drink order. I felt nervous. Kept looking at my watch, thinking do we have to eat fast??? Would we have time for appetizers?? We ordered a few different dishes so we could try some things that we heard about. Tried the shepherds pie. Actually it's cottage pie cause it was beef not lamb. Not your traditional pie. Had a bbq kinda taste. Small portion . The all American burger was cooked perfectly but I didn't care for the honey mustard. Did like the Brussel sprouts as my side. The veggie burger was very earthy. I would say a lot of beets made up that patty. It was ok. The meatloaf was good but again small portion for the price. The vegetarian chili was ok. All that time we felt like our time was running out. I think it was because our server came around a lot. She was friendly enough, but it felt rushed. Meanwhile plenty of empty tables. This as you can see bothered me. Maybe this works for them, but not me. My life is rushed, I don't need to be reminded while out paying for dinner. I hate to leave bad reviews but this was unavoidable. We had a reservation for 8 in our party - all of us were meeting up from out of town. 3 of us got sick after eating here. Service was terrible - items we ordered were forgotten, no refills on any drinks. We had brought a cake for the birthday - no one told us about the cake fee of $2 per person. But they made sure to tell us we had to leave after an hour and 15 minutes. They have a big sign that says it too. The restaurant was MAYBE 25% full. I can see this if it is a restaurant in Manhattan with fully booked reservations. But on a slow Sunday? Totally rude staff. And an automatic gratuity of 20% for the large party. We tip 20% or more always for good service. But rude, poor service? Yikes. 3 of us getting sick after was really the icing on the cake. We'll never be back here unfortunately! read more

First off make reservations before you come, or if your passing by just call to see if they have seating. I have been here a handful of times. They take a lot of precaution with covid. The service is pretty good. I love the atmosphere here, it really fits the area! They use locally sourced foods, you can really taste the freshness, especially in the veggies! For brunch we got the huevos rancheros, it's like a breakfast taco, it's good. Yess they have mimosas! For lunch I usually go for a burger, good as well. The cocktails are average. Went to brunch with some girlfriends. We were about 10 minutes late. It was a few minutes before they served alcohol so when we ordered the server told us we would have to wait till 12 to get it. Cool. That's valid. What we didn't like was a few minutes after that a hostess coming over and saying- "I must remind you. There is a reservation here at 1 pm, so just want you to know that. " It was 12 pm at that point and were just waiting on our server to take our order. I was thinking in my head well that was not necessary at the current moment. Also we had already seen the signs hanging up that brunch reservations were for 1 hour 15 Minutes. I don't know, just didn't feel like that was a great way to start the service. We were all a little perplexed at that. Needless to say we ate, stuck to one drink and were out of there at 12:45. She came by to say- oh we can extend your reservation, we pushed back the other one and we were like nah we are good. We had already made plans to go somewhere else after being treated like that. We were happy to let another establishment have our money we would have spent on more alcohol. Food was okay. Nothing earth shattering for brunch. Biscuit was nice.
