He pointed to a water dispenser with lukewarm water and plastic cups. He gave us a few minutes then returned to take our order. The menu was small but it did have some healthy options. Not just typical bar food. It seemed like the perfect happy hour place! I had some questions about spiciness of one of the entrees. But he didn't seem to know much about feedback about it. I ordered it anyway. It was a little more spicy than I'm used to but it was delicious. He stopped by to check on us more than halfway through the meal. I asked him for some ice and he promptly brought two cups. The patio was lovely! Not much of a view as they had a big fence blocking it, but it still felt very open and breezy. Very intimate and nicely decorated. I would have given five stars had the waiter been a little more welcoming and there were a few more dishes offered. The menu was paper and a bit worn. It made me wonder how many had touched it. Perhaps a QR code would work for them if they don't wish to laminate their menu. Or just put specials on a blackboard. Not just drinks.

I'm updated my review to reflect a recent takeout dining experience…read more A couple weeks ago, we ordered 2 salads, and 2 sandwiches. We ordered pickup. Upon arrival to our house, the order was incorrect, whoopsie! We called back and the waiter who answered mentioned that we had accidentally taken a staff meal home. None of our to-go boxes were labeled. How could anyone know? This is a rookie mistake. It's been a while since this Goblin worked in food, but that's a non-negotiable. Especially given a place that prides itself on catering to restricted diets and lifestyles. This is exactly how you let a pumpkin seed slide into a seed allergy order. Instead of letting us keep the meal, she asked us to bring it back to the restaurant. We were happy to do so. Everyone deserves to eat. Should we have kept it for ourselves? We bring the food back, and the waiter explains that there was a mixup, and apologized. They handed us another to-go box (which wasn't labeled) and tried to end the conversation. "Have a good night!" We had to then explain to this waiter that our wives demanded something in return for the error, which was true. The waiter/bartender had a puzzled look on their face. Customer? Demanding I make something right? In my workplace?! A direct statement void of passivity about the quality of my service? With conditions? The audacity! We live in a world where we, the customer, bring back your incorrect order for you, waste our time, and we just get a, "thanks, have a good night!" This goblin had to claw his way up the ranks pillaging for gold which doesn't come easy. Everyone knows food cost in Seattle went up ~%46 since 2019. Wages haven't. We told the waiter our wives wanted a slice of cake. The waiter was shook by our audacity, and moved towards the fridge behind the bar to consult with two chefs who were shutting it down. We were arriving near/at close on a Monday. The other two chefs body language exuded "just give them the rest of the cake". There was a couple moments of pause and hushed conversation. The waiter pulled out a large serving plate with only a small chunk of Chocolate Mousse Cake left. Instead of putting that into a box, apologizing, and fixing the problem. They conferred about the legitimacy of our claim with the chefs. Hesitantly, they cut the cake into a small slice, put it in a box (which wasn't labeled) and handed it to us. What's hilarious is that they would leave such a small piece going into the next day of prep. Why not just 86 it right there? Why was it so hard for this person to acknowledge they made a mistake, and do something kind for us in return? The chefs clearly understood these fundamental building blocks of customer service, had they not been there in the front of house, I'm sure the waiter would've made an excuse to not remedy the situation. From all of my years in food service, if something is wrong, you make it right, end of story. By owning the error, you keep your integrity. Even a small gesture like 10% off one item, between the hours of 7:35pm- 7:45pm every third Monday, however inconsequential and trivial, makes people feel like you've made things right. These basics need to be addressed with FOH staff. With food cost nearing the price of rent each month in Seattle, customers should feel empowered to speak their mind respectfully. My only reason for going into excruciating detail is the hope that this can be a teaching moment, and more people can eradicate passivity. Passivity is a threat to community, culture, service, and so many other integral parts of our society. It's OK to disagree in public. It's OK to check someone. It's OK to tell your server "No, honestly, it wasn't that good, here's why..". When we deny the truth about our experiences for fear of disrupting the status quo, we withhold an essential part of building stronger, more diverse and resilient communities. "Goblin D, don't you think this is a bit too deep for a food review?" No, and if you've made it this far, the two stars are for the two chefs who made sure we got our cake.

Their menu has not only Vietnamese food but also teriyaki, curry and pad thai among other options, so there's something for anyone coming in for something good to eat. For this visit I got their grilled pork and egg roll noodle bowl, which looks very standard and therefore delicious at first but I ended up not enjoying it. The vermicelli noodles had a rough texture, almost like it could have been boiled for another 5 seconds before plating. The pork is also chewy and tender but dry and lacking in flavor. The egg rolls were the only plus in this dish, but the sheer amount of noodles along with their texture didn't help while eating. My friend's chicken teriyaki with gyoza plate was slightly better, with the chicken also being dry despite the sauce and the gyoza being standard. But past that, service was fast and quick, along with the time it took for all our food to come out. Servers were attentive with answering questions and filling our water throughout, and we all wanted to stay a little longer just to take in the decor. I was really vacillating between 4 and 5 stars here since my final rating for this place is 4.5/5…read more I'm choosing to rate this 5 stars at the end because of high potential, great staff and hearty food! This indoor restaurant is close to the streets of Rainier Ave and there is unmarked parking all along S Grand St you can utilize, but it can be nearly full like on the Saturday noon around 12:30pm I came here with parents. It is in the same building as the Melody Jabooda Apartments, and is pretty compact inside. There's several small tables inside than can fit a max of 3 people, yet the interior muffles the bulk of the noisy traffic on Rainier Ave. There's some decor on the walls and near the counter where the kitchen is, and the counter to order is almost directly in front of the entrance. Phone reception inside was iffy, as I had to go outside the building to check into here on the Yelp app. Seating was full, mostly from patrons ordering and taking their goods to go but with some actually dining in. For a place that serves banh mi, they also have pho, bun, Vietnamese coffee, lattes and matcha drinks. Several of the drinks are also available in hot formats, and all drinks cost the same except for Vietnamese coffee and lattes which cost $1.95 and $1 less before tax, respectively. There are different price tags for the hot drinks. Banh mi sandwiches also come in bags that look like they could be used for roasted coffee beans - they're dark brown and are about the same size as store-bought coffee bean bags. What a coincidence given they also serve coffee! We got many things from here: - Old school Vietnamese coffee ($7, hot): according to my dad (and me after having several sips), this unfortunately tasted more like American coffee; it was missing sweetened condensed milk to make it more like so, and the coffee itself wasn't strong. It seems regular milk was used as the sweetener instead. - Oolong house blend ($8.95): your standard milk tea. I added both grass jelly and tapioca onto this. Mom liked this and had no complaints; I had a sip and thought it was pretty good too. - Grilled pork banh mi sandwich ($9.95, medium toast): I partially shared this one with my mom. Grilled pork is all right at best, otherwise it has all the works of a great banh mi. We'd still prefer the one from Q Bakery for now. - Butterfly matcha: the butterfly pea flower in this drink created a blue hue inside the drink in its own layer and essentially enhanced the ceremonial matcha taste a lot more, since it tasted more woody and earthier than usual once I mixed everything. It's also sweet enough to satisfy any matcha lover out there. I loved this drink a lot and would highly recommend! - House special banh mi sandwich ($10.95, medium toast): this sandwich is much larger than I expected, and comes with Vietnamese ham, pork ham, pate, jalapeños and what looked like Chinese sausage along with the same works as the grilled pork. Everything went well together and it was loaded! All meats were fresh and just this sandwich alone made me really full. Another high recommend! I really appreciated the staff for asking all the clarifying questions for our banh mi sandwiches and drinks, like how toasted we wanted our sandwiches, the sweetness and ice levels of our drinks, and toppings for those drinks. They also let me and other patrons in line know of wait times for our food, with my order being quoted about 15 minutes and coming out by that timeframe. This place has been open since September of last year, and they have a decked out menu for anyone wanting to grab both food and drink. I'm definitely coming back to try their other drinks and sandwiches!

We both decided we liked the Saigon broth which seemed a little more sweet, and less fishy. It was a good choice as that broth was excellent. Our server was very nice and patient to explain the whole process to us. Interior was very nice and clean, but some areas, like the bathrooms, already seemed a little worn for a new restaurant space. Prices seemed a little high for pho, but I guess that was due to our selection. Bill was about $55 for 2 pho, a diet coke and a beer. They did have a good beer selection. We'll be back... primarily because the Saigon broth is so good, but we might be a little more conservative on our selections to keep the cost down.

First time here. I ordered the Short Rib Pho, expecting a bone-in short rib. I received my…read moreorder, and it was boneless meat, which I questioned.. They said they use boneless, which was ok with me. But wait a minute, that's weird, I've never seen Boneless short Ribs that were round shaped, with no marbling. This appeared to me to be eye of round, and yes. I am an expert. Ok you want to snooker me for an extra $2.00 premium, no biggie... Beef broth that everyone raves about was awfully dark and a tad salty. Doctored Knorr Beef Base perhaps? I ate it. I was hungry, but hard pass next time.

in the puget sound it's become easy to find a small banh mi shop in almost all towns and cities but…read morewhat isn't easy is finding places that reliably offer good quality food and clean eating areas. sometimes places are more known for takeout rather than eating on the premises but when you're craving a banh mi, lets me honest-----sometimes where you eat it isn't as important as where you bought it and today i found a legit place to put on your radar, if it isn't already. they do banh mi sandwiches and bun vermicelli noodle bowls and it was packed on a tuesday at lunchtime with people who had shown up and ordered on the large screen at the front counter and were waiting for their order's number to be called. i have some favorite places around the seattle area and going to be adding this one to the top of the list for the following reasons: SIZE: this banh mi was so big i couldn't finish it. it's going to become a second meal later today or tomorrow. TASTE/FLAVOR: great, fresh ingredients (pickled carrots and daikon) and yummy marinated tofu that had a sweet kind of sauce on it (maybe it was the mayo?!) the bread was fabulous consistency and crunch. PRICE: for the size and quality, the price was quite reasonable! this is dangerous to know about, considering it's on the peninsula and will help with the cravings when they strike. the only downfall is that parking is difficult. you may need to park a block away and walk since there's only spaces for 3-4 cars in front. while i was there, i literally saw a couple of cars double park to run in and grab their orders so maybe regulars know to expect that. pro tip: do not stand or park between a hungry person and their banh mi order

I've heard good things about this place from two of my friends. I finally had a chance to check it…read moreout. I was very impressed. It was quick and easy to order. I got my food quickly. The sandwich was huge. The bread was perfect. There's a lot of meat and veggies. There's the right amount of sauce. It's one of the best Banh Mi I've ever had. I highly recommend this place. It's awesome.
