Da Cowgirl
Bethani E.

My new favorite pizza on island! We've ordered pizza from Da Grateful Dough two Sundays in a row for lunch while watching football. First week we ordered the Cowgirl and Uncle Charlie's Kama'aina. Cowgirl is a veggie white pizza and the Kama'aina was a BBQ pizza with a little bit of everything. Second week we substituted the Cowgirl for the Benny Blanco which was another variation of another veggie white pizza. Loving these gourmet pizzas. Complex and unique flavors in every bite. Everything is fresh and flavorful. I can't decide which one I like more since they're all delicious and have different flavor profiles. It all comes down to whatever you're craving. Can't wait to try Da Boss and Da Lau Lau. Keep'em coming! I'm a fan.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the pizza but boy oh boy was it great. The dough it's self tasted fresh, not your Costcos Pizza Hut or other chain taste. Ube flavored cheese tripped me out but the flavor was not over powering. This food truck is set aside from the other food trucks in the lot but maybe for good reasons :). The pizza does take a little longer but definitely worth the wait. Take a seat in their little grotto area and enjoy each slice! Each pie is perfect for a mama bear and their little, or just enjoy alone, no judgement here. Ask for a take out box if you can't finish, this pizza is great for your short flight out to a neighbor island.

Had a pretty great pizza experience with them - family got dessert and some extra sides, while we went with the Kama'aina pizza. There's so much toppings happening on the pizza, but I think they all blend pretty well together - would come back to try more food from them for sure - Miguel Morales Photography

For Fig About It pizza $28.

Fig-Get-About-It !!! Truly one of the best pizzas I've ever had!! I first heard about Da grateful Dough when the Owner was passing out business cards, in the beginning, inviting us to check it out. I FINALLY MADE IT and was not disappointed!! Ok... so I'm a pineapple on pizza, kind a girl, so I like sweet and savory... I ordered da Fig- get- about 'it pizza and it was insanely yummy!!! Ube ricotta cheese, balsamic reduction, etc. Im a veggie so I swapped the prosciutto for the savory coconut bacon Because the pizza is made fresh, we had to wait about 20 minutes before we got our pizza but it was worth it!! The lady Chef welcomed us, explained we'd need to wait a little while. My friend and I sat and had lunch in their shady, table area. It was a bit pricey but worth the quality. I can't wait to try more!

Pizza with burnt crust that "isn't burnt" according to the owner.

Just want to let everyone know that this is a pizza truck with a very powerful oven. My son saw it and wanted another. The lady told us in a very stand offish way that she can't control the oven because it's 800 degrees. Seems like the amount of time in the oven could give less burn marks. She offered to remake it, but was really rude about. I don't need her to spit in our food.

Came to Da grateful dough after finding it on Google maps. It's very conveniently located from the airport (0.5 miles) and close to Costco so you can stock up on goods. Pizza was so unique and delicious. We had Da Primal and it had Ube cheese! Benoit has created such a special atmosphere with picnic tables and plants that you don't even realize you're at a food truck.

This is the best pizza in Maui comes out of a food truck by Costco. Not what you would expect, but it's true. Pound for pound, the pizza here is better than Sale Pepe, Marlow, and Maui Pizza Truck, which are all amazing in their own ways. But DGD stands out because of the dough and the high quality ingredients and care put into the final product. Don't sleep on these guys.

We ordered the extreme pepperoni without ube ricotta. It tasted amazing. I loved the black garlic oil on the crust. Will definitely return in the future.

Super awesome dough and great brisket. Very unique combinations. We had the Championship Brisket Pie, with Ube Ricotta. Next time we want to try the venison pizza. Also, they have a cute gardeny setup.

This was hands down the best pizza my wife and i have ever eaten. So much care and thought is clearly put behind every ingredient. From the sauce and toppings to the hand made dough, the flavors were out of this world! The set up was super cool, we had a nice shady spot to sit and eat. This will be a regular stop for us on our future trips to Maui.

UPDATED BELOW (in response to owner's comment) Actually between 3 and 3.5 stars. I had high hopes for da pizza given da 4.6 star review but after taking a bite, my first thought was What Da Heck? Maybe my expectations were too high, especially given they charge $26 for a 12 inch pie, but I was pretty disappointed. I am from NY so I usually expect a thin crust in my pizzas, which is definitely not the case for this. Think more like a Pizza Hut crust albeit definitely better quality; fluffier and tastier. The macadamia nut pesto is definitely an interesting twist and the sauce and cheese were not bad, but the 4.6 rating had me expecting a lot more. Maybe this is really good for Hawaii, but as you can tell from my Yelp reviews, I eat a lot of pizza so take that into account. UPDATE: Chef Benoit, if anyone needs to check himself, I would think it is you because I do not even know what to make of your comment. You say that you came out of pizza making "royalty" from the East Coast but then call East Coast pizza "crap." And last I checked, Ray's does not even get mentioned in the same breath anymore as places like Lucali, Di Fara, L'Industie, Best Pizza, etc., which critics and chefs much more renowned than me would say are far from being "crappy." So based on that, I cannot take your comment seriously.

My husband and I got the 1lb bbq meat plate. Everything on that plate was amazing! It was super delicious. The flavors were out of this world. The service was great. Would definitely go again! Wow!

Not best of ambiance! Dusty area to enjoy pizza! PLUS you can even hear a variety of LOUD music all the way across to Costco gas/parking.

It was a short 5 min hop over from the airport to Da Tambayan Corner and parking in the adjacent lot was easy. All the food trucks are ringed around the central tables and look for the aquamarine Da Soriano truck over by the road. Their food style is Filipino with a Hawaiian twist if you hadn't discerned it from their name. They have a build-your-own-combo grindz menu that you can pick a couple of proteins with rice options or check out the picture menu if you really don't know what to get. My wife went for the combo of Pork Adobo & Garlic Butter Shrimp with Mac & Green Salad, both very flavorful choices. Her friend went double pork action with Chinese Roast Pork Belly & Calamansi Grilled Pork Belly and Pancit Bihon Noodles as her side. The Chinese roast pork belly was as crispy good as any I've seen in any Chinatown. My Seafood Trio had a Miso Glazed Salmon Fillet, 3 Baked Mussels, 2 Shrimp Tempura and topped with Kaboyaki sauce & Thai Chili Aioli. The Shrimp were not the typical panko coated but battered and tasted good drizzled with the 2 sauces. The mussels are topped with a heavy cheesy mayo sauce and baked. Of course, it wouldn't be a Hawaiian plate lunch without a scoop of white rice and a scoop of mac salad. All this wasn't enough and our friend went back to chat with the chef and came back with a double serving of banana lumpia in crunchy spring roll wrap and drenched in heavy syrup. This was an excellent dessert and wrap up to a great lunch. We were so stuffed, we had to skip dinner!

The truck itself is fun, painted with bright tropical colors and scenes, and they seem to be known for their loaded tots and bao buns. I placed my order on the touchscreen outside and then sat down to wait for my food. For lunch on this day I went with the buffalo chicken tots and the Island Piggy bao. The menu described the bao as kalua pork, BBQ sauce, tropical salsa, and pickled red onions. The buffalo chicken tots were described as buttermilk fried chicken, buffalo sauce, jack cheddar cheese, house made pickles, and ranch dressing. It took less than 10 minutes for my food to be ready and I sat down at one of the shaded picnic tables. When I opened everything up it all looked good, but I did notice that the tots were missing the house made pickles. I started with the bao and thought it was pretty good. The kalua pork was super juicy and the bao bun was light and fluffy while still holding together well. The pickled onions added a nice acidity and the tropical salsa brought good flavor. The only thing I did not notice much was the BBQ sauce. After that I dug into the tots. The tots themselves were cooked nicely with a crispy outside and soft inside. The chicken was good as well with a nice batter and the buffalo sauce added flavor while the cheese was gooey. The only thing worth noting is that the chicken was softer than expected and not very crispy. It worked since I did have the texture from the crispy tots, but it stood out. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I would probably not order both a bao and tots again as it was a lot of food, but I would definitely come back for one or the other.

If you see this truck, do not skip it.

Peeked their Instagram and saw a corned beef and egg grilled cheese sandwich. Say what? Less than 5 minutes later I was texting my order in. Unfortunately, no one actually ever answered my text (please don't tell people to text if you don't reply). Being impatient, I said screw it and just drove myself there to check. They are located in Kahului Industrial in the Ferguson's parking lot, across the way from Lee Bear's. It's a really, really random spot and parking could be a challenge if it gets busy. If it's slow, you could park right in front of the trailer. The family that runs this food trailer is born and raised in Guam and their menu features Chamorro cuisine like arrozcaldo, corn soup, etc. It didn't seem like it to me at first because everything was so so familiar to me, but my friend who was raised in Guam reminded me of how it's heavily Filipino influenced and mentioned that the grilled cheese sandwich was her childhood growing-up. No wonder (I'm Filipino)... Anywho, got my corned beef and egg grilled cheese sandwich! The corned beef isn't like your St. Patty's day corned beef, but more like the Palm brand canned corned beef. The bread was also slightly sweet and was the perfect vessel for all this deliciousness. The sandwich was so tasty and had the perfect amount of meat and cheese. Definitely a great way to start my morning and can't wait to have it again. My friend also recommended trying their corn soup & their red rice whenever it's available. Will definitely try those in the future too.
