Green coffee convert over here!! Absolutely delicious coffee served up by the most chill, kind human. I'm not sure what impressed me more, the mind-blowing iced coffee, or the guy taking orders and preparing all the food and drinks single handedly. We walked into a line about 6 deep and a full house. He was the only one on sight and WOW. He kept his calm, was super friendly to everyone, took all our orders, went back and calmly made all the orders, and got them all out to the awaiting customers. All in a timely fashion and he even made sure every single customer was satisfied with their coffee drinks. Dude definitely has a masters in Chi. I'm stopping back in tomorrow to try a green ice coffee without the flavor and maybe just a touch of creme. The flavored green coffee I got today was awesome and made me super curious about what the base flavor profile is. Big Island is so lucky to have such an amazing business serving up such a unique and delicious coffee. No doubt Da Beans Greens will be on my must stop list when on BI from now on. Two-car parking in front or park on the side of the road. Recently lost vegan baker so currently not serving vegan pastries. But the smoothies are vegan and delicious. The name of this cool roadside stop-off, "Da Beans Green" tells the story of its signature beverages made with raw green coffee beans. The beans are soaked for twelve hours or so, for a delicious cold brew. You can combine any number of flavors, choosing from their list of twenty or more options, to add to the cold brew. We ordered two of their pre-set cold brew beverages and LOVED them both. For food we opted for the avocado toast, with the optional egg and Brie add ons (amazing) and the everything bagel with cream cheese. Inside you'll find local art on the walls, a spacious seating area, funky music playing, and an ordering station in the back right. There are sofas, as well as high tops and big tables for seating. One of the people who owns the place took our order; they are super nice and friendly. Definitely recommend this place. read more

I stopped at this little spot for a coffee on the way to Volcanoes National Park. It is so cute! They have food which all sounded so good, but I was in a rush. I overheard the staff member explaining that this shop is in the process of adding a lot of raw, vegan foods. They had a delicious sounding raw ramen that I want to go back to try! I ended up foregoing the typical coffee for a green coffee bean drink. The staff member explained the benefits of getting your caffeine from raw coffee beans and how they taste, and I was so intrigued I had to try it. I got the Dream which has blueberry and lavender in it. It is very good! It doesn't taste like coffee.. It's hard to explain, but it's a like a coconut milk flavor with blueberry, lavender, and a very faint peppery flavor? Idk. Just try it! read more

I hosted a moms group here and the ladies were so kind and accommodating to us even at times when we were running around the cafe after the littles! This was supposed to be a quick stop before we get to the volcano. We ended up some raw coffee - it was delicious and some breakfast foods. The avocado toast was good - but the truffle was a heavy handed a bit, also (I can't believe I am saying this) the amount of avocado was a little too much for the size of the toast. The lox and bagel combination - there was too much cream cheese, couldn't really taste anything else. I love the concept of this business and think it has a lot of potential - just needs a little bit of editing and refinery. Will give it another shot when we are there next. Service is okay but difficult to make it good when line is long and you are the only person taking orders and preparing them. Loved the ambiance, it is peaceful. read more

Beautiful Coffee Oasis in the middle of the Big Island. A genuine, authentic Hawaiian spot(attached to a Hostel). I absolutely adored the ambiance (10 out of 10), welcoming, charming, relaxing, comfortable, reggae sounds as you listen to the relaxing sound of cars whipping by. Comfy couches and lounging chairs and walls adorned with art by the local artists. And the "pick your own book out" library. The host was incredibly welcoming and explained why this coffee is so incredibly unique, not just to the mainland coffee but to the Island itself. The Cold Brew Raw Green Coffee. Standards (lattes, pour overs, etc.) are available, but green bean cold brews with various syrups and milks are available, which provide a caffeinated bump with a fruit concoction flavor. Very refreshing! I heard there's also the possibility of a gf cinnnamon roll. Owners are friendly and cheerful - if you like supporting indie businesses, try this one. It didn't disappoint! The missing 5th star is solely because of the mildly challenging exit off the highway (55 zone) into their currently small parking lot. Location - Convenient if you travel a lot between Mt. View and Hilo. Advertisement - Effective, with fairly accurate info on hours, specials etc. Premises - Probably the best part of the business. Hip and beatnik-ish, comfey sofas with local art on the wall. Probably would benefit from some live local musicians now and again. Coffee - Off the beaten path and pretty good. But in all honesty, you have to try pretty hard to screw up a cup of coffee, amaright? Food - We ordered a couple of egg McMuffin sort of deals because we were on the go. They were OK. Service - THIS is what forfeited them some stars. Slow. Ridiculously slow. They had three people on the floor (the owner and two guy at the counter), the place was empty besides us (two people) and it take half an hour for them to produce a couple of egg and cheese on muffins and two house coffees. It was in the AM and they were advertising "on the go" specials out front. Added note. There was a couple with a small child waiting for their "on the go" food out in the parking lot. They had ordered before us, had been waiting for almost 45 minutes and they were furious. This place has a lot of promise. But please, owners, fix the service situation. Stopped by to grab a morning cuppa and came across informative staff that delivered a unique coffee experience. I knew nothing about raw coffee and had only planned on going for espresso made with roasted beans but after the menu was meticulously explained I had to try it raw! I am glad I did. Easy to drive past but DONT. This place is probably the one I think about the most from my stay on the big island. The smoothie was the best I had on the island. The fruit tasted sweet and organic, definitely longing for it now that Im back on the mainland. Not pictured here was the french toast which was also really good but I saw someone order the avocado toast and I could NOT leave without also trying (which is big for me since I dont have a huge appetite in the morning).
