My mouth dropped when I saw the rating that D'Raymond's has on Yelp! This is one of my top two favorite Italian spots in the area. I love it so much that I asked my family to take me there for my birthday, and my boyfriend took me here when I got laid off to cheer me up! :) I have never been disappointed by D'Raymond's--ever. Their portions are huge, I always look forward to the complimentary fried dough buns because they're so good, the bread is fresh, and the food is mouthwatering. Their menu is diverse and has something for everyone--fish lovers, veal enthusiasts, and pasta fans. Some of my favorite appetizers are the antipasti, their massive mozzarella caruso (so cheesy and delicious!), and their Sicilian meatballs. This time, for my birthday, I had the manicotti--crepe-style pasta filled with ricotta cheese and fresh spinach, with the option of sausage, homemade meatballs, or both. And you bet I tried both. I definitely enjoyed the meatballs more! But I think my favorite entrée so far has been the Lobster Ravioli--the filling is insanely good, they definitely don't skimp on the lobster, and it's super filling. For dessert, my favorite so far is the chocolate toll house cake--it just hits different! But I've also had their cannoli, lava cake, and turtle cheesecake--all amazing. The staff at D'Raymond's are always so sweet and patient. D'Raymond's, you'll always be a favorite!

Everything was absolutely incredible, but the stuffed rigatoni (Thursday special) stole the show! Eric's service was absolutely fantastic and the food/experience was certainly worth the wait!! We will be coming back soon!

It had been several years since we dined at my wife's favorite Italian restaurant for sauce, D'Raymonds. It always seemed like a hassle to get someone to answer the phone to make a reservation. And of course, it was always necessary to make plans well in advance to assure the availability of a table on the day and time of your choosing. We are more last-minute decision makers than advance planners, so we frequently are disappointed at the unavailability of a reservation. We decided to try something different this time. Take-out! We called on a Saturday about an hour after they opened, did not have to wait too long for the phone to be answered, and were asked to hold while a server was summoned to take our order. We were able to specify a pickup time of 5 pm without any problem. There is a separate door on the side of the building for retrieving takeout orders. It opens directly into the back dining room. Our order was actually all packed and sitting on a counter waiting for pickup, but I was not aware that it was for us. A server asked if I was picking up an order, and when I replied in the affirmative, they said they would alert the server who took our order over the phone. From that point everything was normal. I paid for our food and was on my way home. Our dinners were excellent - Scaloppe Di Vitello Alla D'Raymonds ($28), and Scaloppe Alla Francesa ($28). The veal D'Raymonds was tender veal sauteed in olive oil and garlic with tomatoes, mushrooms and sweet peppers, with hot Italian sausage and herbs. Delicious! The sausage was very tasty too. The veal Francesa had veal dipped in seasoned egg batter with lemon, sauteed and served on a bed of sauteed escarole. Delicious also! Did I forget to mention that our meals included sides of spaghetti, Italian bread, and butter? There was plenty of good food to enjoy a second day.

My bestie and I decided to go for Italian on this rainy day to D'Raymonds. We didn't make reservations and were very lucky to get a table due to the place was packed. I felt like I was in little Italy; people laughing and talking reminded me of family dinners. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. We received 2 rolls that were very soft on the inside and crusty on the outside. Next was the leafy greens salad. Very tasty with Black Olive Feta Vinaigrette dressing, homemade croutons and marinaded tomatoes and red peppers. Our meals came they both were hot off the grill! My meal was Capellini Pomodoro Grande Shrimp, mussels and spinach served in a plum tomato white wine clam sauce over capellini pasta. This was to die for! They asked if you want fresh grated parmesan cheese that she graded before I could snap the photo. Oh well ‍ Definitely coming back!

This is a classic, old school Italian joint. Absolutely amazing food. You can tell everything is made fresh, in house, and with care. The service was great too. Truly a classic restaurant everyone should experience.

I've been there before and the crazy, giant fiberglass crab on display in the entrance is always a hoot. So is the fiberglass shark head on the wall in the dining area. I like a place with a sense of fun and humor. I also like this place for its seafood boils. The good news is that this restaurant--which was very good to begin with-- has gotten even better. Last time I showed up, the server brought the seafood boil still in its boiling bag and cut it open in front of me. It was up to me to reach into the hot bag and pull out its contents. There was steam everywhere. A hot mess, indeed! This time, the kitchen took care of the boiling bag for me. Instead, they beautifully arranged the boiled seafood on a large platter. Wow. It looked amazing and tasted even better! This time, I'd asked for a Number 4 with mix of seasonings, including garlic and butter. There were: one big lobster tail, plenty of shrimp, clams, crawfish, potatoes, corn on the cob, hard boiled eggs and extra veggies. It was described as enough to feed three people. Coincidentally, we were a party of three. We also ordered a Cajun Fried Rice for good measure. We really didn't need it. We were so full. The fruit drinks were great, too. Union Seafood is a franchise with locations in Troy and Schenectady. They're owned by Larry Weng who also opened Ji Bei Chuan Rice Noodles & Ramen on Western Avenue in Guilderland, according to local news reports. In celebration of May being AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Month, it's probably fair to say that Asian-American owned restaurants such as Union Seafood have added much variety to the overall dining experience in Capital Region. Vive la différence.

It's a lot and the seafood is fresh. I would say 3 people could share. We had it mild and mixed sauce. Maybe order hot next time since i did not taste the spiciness. We both enjoyed it. Price is not that bad. The place is huge but kinda datk inside. Service is great though. For dessert we got the coconut cake. It is kinda frozen. But it taste good. Surely coming back!

This is a haute cuisine place that is masked by the casual dining atmosphere. Seriously: top notch chef, original recipes, a core dedication to quality seafood, paired with a fresh fish counter and some prepared food to go. We usually go for something special, but tonight I decided to get an old childhood standby, fried clams (the Boston Basket) and the fish burger sandwich. I did not expect either to be as transportive as they turned out to be. The fried clams were as delicately done as I've ever had: not crispy, but not too floppy, with excellent breading. And while I prefer my clams naked, we tried all three of the dipping sauces -- a remoulade, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce. Now normally I loathe cocktail sauce and can take tartar sauce or leave it, so I figured we'd eat up the remoulade and ignore the other two. Still, I gave them little nibbles. Man! The cocktail sauce was like no other I've had, with a heavy hint of horseradish and a far fresher flavor than I've ever had. Then the tartar sauce -- genius! It had a delicate spicing, with capers providing a floral backdrop. That was only a preliminary, as the fish burger proved to be complex, with hints of multiple kinds of fish, and a fennel-based spicing. I ended up having that afterglow, as if I'd had a couple of cocktails and was sitting next to a fireplace, that is the hallmark of truly fine food at an advanced level. We also had the usual outstanding service, attentive without being pushy. I seriously think Hooked should consider splitting into two restaurants: one where the ambiance is upgraded to match the high caliber of the food, and another cheaper one that is strictly fast casual and takeout, and they'd more than double the business. There is a restaurant back where we come from in California, Turtle Bay, that did this with fine dining on one side and the quick, simple, and affordable food on the other side, with a big shared kitchen between them but with completely separate ambiances. That way I could come back more frequently, and still have the original Hooked for special occasions!

I finally decided to give Hooked a try after hearing many great things about their lobster roll…read more With that said, I'm glad I did because the food was delicious. To explain, I ordered the cold lobster roll with fries and it was great. First off, the lobster was tender, incredibly fresh, and they loaded the roll with it. Likewise, the roll was perfect. It was airy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. My only issue with the lobster roll was that it needed more mayonnaise. In the same manner, the fries were phenomenal. To make plain, the fries were scorching hot and seasoned to perfection. Also, they had a crispy exterior with a fluffy interior. These were simply great fries. Essentially, Hooked offers great lobster rolls and fries.

We started out with a few appetizers, croquettes, pork belly, fried cauliflower, and bread. Everything was delicious and left you wanting just another bite even though the portions were respectable. Drinks were impeccable. Dinners ranged from the lemon gnocchi that I added scallops to and it was hands down the best gnocchi I've had. Pillowy soft and light, and such a smooth texture. Friend had the Korean chicken dish which he said was delicious and the best thing he has tried, same goes for the surf and turf meal which had shrimp instead of lobster much to my friend's delight. We ended dinner with dessert which was a homemade chocolate chip cookie w homemade vanilla ice cream which was served with a drizzle of very good quality chocolate. Start to finish every staff person we interacted with was welcoming, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Definitely appreciated and noteworthy over the usual, requisite pleasantries. We both had specials - scallops with squid ink risotto and pork belly with tostones. Each dish was thoughtfully and creatively prepared, the proteins were cooked perfectly, and I appreciated the inclusion of some fresh, on-site grown veg. Also enjoyed the Latin American flare/flavor incorporated into both dishes. Dining prices in Albany have (bewilderingly) been on par with Boston and NYC for years now, so Coray Kitchen is certainly reasonable for a high quality meal. I also appreciate that the specials were priced similarly to on-menu items. Will definitely be back to sample the paella and fresh pasta, unless enticed away again by specials!
