Coconut (top left), Pistachio (top right), and Biscottino (bottom) gelato
Dana S.

D'oro is the among the few really authentic Italian gelato cafes in Vancouver. I've been to the Robson location before, this was my first time at this one, and I've really enjoyed both. They're pretty much identical, so just go to the location that's more convenient for you. The staff are very friendly and hardworking, The cafes are clean and have an elegant look but decoration is not at all over the top. This one is a little tight on space - there's plenty of tables, but they're kind of packed together. Here, I had a vegetarian panino, an iced latte, and of course some gelato to finish off (but I was really tempted by all the cakes and will try one on a cooler day). The panino took a while to heat up, but it was worth it for the freshly grilled bread. The eggplant, pepper, and onion filling was delicious. They make a good latte, and it's served with a small piece of biscotto. If the bite-sized piece is any indicator, they make amazing biscotti. Just the one bite packed a lot of almond essence. I got a "D'oro" scoop for the gelato, which is 3 mini scoops. I love that they have this option so you can enjoy different flavours without getting a monster serving. It's also a pretty good value for 3 scoops at $6.65. They don't charge extra for cone either. The flavour selection is the standard flavours that are popular in Italy. I went with the pistachio, coconut, and biscottino flavours on cone. They let you sample a few flavours before choosing and I also tried the rum raisin - it was a tough call between this and the biscottino, but I went with the biscottino because I thought it would go better with the other flavours I wanted and I thought it had a little more depth of flavour. Of the scoops I got, the pistachio was the richest and that was my favourite, but they were all good. I'll admit that there is better gelato to be had in Vancouver - "gourmet" gelato shops like Bella Gelateria and Uno Gelato (or, if you want to go to Commercial Drive, Dolce Amore is unbeatable) have slightly smoother gelato and offer a better selection of flavours for the more adventurous palate. But this is still a high quality gelato, and I actually would choose this over almost any ice cream - it's just that Vancouver has some insane competition! Where D'oro shines is offering an all-around strong cafe menu and capturing the essence of Italian gelato culture. For gelato fans I do think it's a must-try, because it takes you back to the roots of gelato. And even if you don't want gelato, it's a nice cafe that's worth a visit.

Very delicious dessert and gelato here! Very glad to be so close to this place. The staff were so friendly, will be back soon!

One of my favourite spots! It's really small and not very much seating area but this is a great place to pick up ice cream before going to the beach! The tiramisu is my favourite!!!! I usually can't finish one scoop by myself but I somehow can finish two! It's so creamy and full of flavour! You won't be disappointed here!

Mom gave the creme brûlée and the latté gelato a try. She opted for he brûlée and loveeeeed it (in cone of course). She thinks is the smoothest ice cream. Ever. Even better than earnest. She said the waffle was nice and thin. Not too doughy or soggy. Got to people watch while seated outside. Ate all the calories we meant to walk off after our dinner. She loved the little pink plastic spoon so much she kept it.

Affogato with Tiramisu Gelato is a must have. We also tried the cheesecake Galato it was good too. Cappuccino is alright not amazing.

mango sorbet and nutella (more than $8!)

Unspectacular ice cream. Just having been recently in Europe, we were craving some high quality ice cream. D'oro reviews were promising. But the flavours fell flat. Tried Ferrero and it was mild chocolate, and nocciolato (hazelnut & milk) was like vanilla. Settled with Nutella and mango which were average. Nutella tasted like Nutella mixed with vanilla ice cream, with mango was like supermarket boxed ice cream. Too bad, an expensive mistake.

Busy gelato shop with crowds of people. Can't be helped during these warm summer nights I suppose. They need a better system to separate people who are getting sorbetto and ones only getting gelato. Gelato is gelato. Hard to give this stuff a poor review.

Upasna D.

Their gelatos are delicious. Creamy and soft. Some of their gelatos are egg free so if you do not eat egg then you are in luck. I got pistachio flavor and hubby got chocolate, both the flavors were amazing.

Good ice cream, fair portion, but they loose a star on service. They charge you 85c for a cup, how stupid is that. I'm buying your ice-cream and advertising your business and you did not calculate it into the price of the scoop.

Toblerone Gelato

If you are ever craving a sweet dessert. D'oro Gelato e Caffe is the perfect compliment to satisfy your craving. This place is a staple in the neeighborhood of the west end and has recently establish a new location in the Robson and Jervis location. This place can be easily overlooked. But don't be fooled, walk in and see the amazing assortment of flavours. My personal favorites are the ferrero, milk chocolate and the toblerone flavors. Can you tell that I love my chocolate? Of cpurse they serve other stuff too, butwhy botherwhen you can have ice cream. So, if you are trying to impress a date, a visitor, a friend or family. Take them here and they will love you forever. Plus take their promotion card, which gives you a free scoop after a purchase of 10 scoops. The one thing is, most of the locals already know about this place and is quite popular already. So the line ups can sometimes be long. But they are efficient and soon you will get your scoops. Patience is key, the reward is awesome.

Wowww... where should I begin?? I was craving a lot for some quality gelato and started looking at reviews. This place had great reviews so decided to go no further. Moreover, this was just next to the place we had dinner so that worked out pretty good for us. I soooo wanted to get their nutella gelato but they were out of it. There were what seemed like a bazillion options !! Sorbets and gelato .. vanilla or creme brûlée?? I was so confused for I wanted to try all of them. There is an option to get three mini scoops in a cone or cup for about $5 and that's perfect! I got dark chocolate, pistachio and kinder bueno. My friend had coconut, coffee and strawberry cheesecake gelato. My most favorite were the pistachio and coconut. Some of the flavors were a tad bit sweeter than usual in my opinion- for e.g the kinder bueno had almond flakes in it and was a bit too sweet but my dark chocolate balanced the sweetness well. The place had a never ending influx of customers. They also have an award for Vancouver's winning gelato taste buds. I am definitely not surprised! Next time I am here, I will probably try their coffees. There's no dedicated parking. Street parking is the way tk go to explore around Vancouver downtown.

The folks working there were kind and professional. They looked like wickedly good witches as they added natural ingredients to their metal cauldrons, and then added the liquid nitrogen, creating a rapidly rising fog. So, really, you are getting ice cream and a show! The concoctions emerged as super smooth, not too sweet, distinct fresh flavorful ice cream. It is a small shop with limited seating, so not likely to be a comfie sit down experience for you given how popular the place is, but it is easy food to take to go and a very nice area for a stroll. I ordered the Original Peak, with a twist of vanilla and dark chocolate with cereal at the bottom. The first thing that stood out was the airy and fluffy texture, almost lighter than traditional soft serve. The dark chocolate brought a mild cocoa note, while the cereal added a crunchy, slightly nostalgic contrast at the base. That said, I expected the vanilla to have more of a rich, milky flavor. This is not the place for plain vanilla; it's the combinations (think honeycomb, matcha, or seasonal specials) that bring the experience to life. Based on the shop's concept, Soft Peaks is known for using local organic milk and keeping sweetness restrained, which tracks with that lighter, less sugary profile. Adding something like cereal or crunchy toppings makes a big difference. If you're a vanilla purist looking for a strong dairy note, this might feel a bit subtle.

When getting the matcha ice cream, I suggest getting straight matcha instead of the twist with vanilla because the vanilla washes out the matcha; it comes through better on its own. The crepe was fresh and tender, there was a healthy amount of filling, and the tuna salad was actually mostly tuna with just enough mayo to hold it together which is how I prefer it.
