We grabbed seats at the bar and enjoyed having a friendly bartender who was a good conversationalist as well. I absolutely loved my bacon egg and cheese biscuit. The bacon was the chef's kiss. Thick, but not too thick, and so flavorful. The biscuit itself was really nice. Not too heavy or dense. I added the home fries for $1 and they were a nice accompaniment. Great seasoning! The atmosphere inside is great. Plants nestled everywhere, little knick knacks catch your eye here and there. Looking forward to returning and having another meal!

We were turned on to Rustic Spoon a couple years ago when visiting family in Norfolk. Now, it's a must STOP whenever visiting the area. On our last visit, I realized I've checked in and posted pics but never reviewed. Needless to say, I've been gate keeping this little gem as long as I could. Sadly it's been a known spot for locals for years. Whenever we visit, the food and service has been spot on. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Just yesterday, Isabel was our server. As with previous visits, we were taken care of with personable and friendly service. She was a good sport about some minor issues we kind of made jokes about and went along with them... Food wise, they have a regular menu with some great options as well as some specials they change and rotate seasonally. I've enjoyed the Soft Shell Crab Benedict, Fried Shrimp Benedict, Shrimp and Grits, Short Rib Hash among the various brunch items. I've seen and wanted to try their dinner options but sadly have only visited during brunch hours. They have a main dining area and bar area, patio dining and an upstairs area for dining. All are comfortable and service from the kitchen is prompt. Definitely a worthwhile stop when in the area. Keep on Yelp'n!

The fried rice was really good! Everything tasted fresh, and OMG, the house-made chili crunch was SO good! I'm a fan of Trader Joe's chili crunch, but Stockpot's is even better! I would honestly come back just for that. Lol! The service was great, too! Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and the ingredients in each dish. I always appreciate when the staff can answer questions and really know what they're serving. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch experience at Stockpot. Good food, great service, and that chili crunch definitely deserves its own shoutout! I'll be back to try something else on the menu.

The restaurant was very clean, and since it wasn't too busy, we were seated right away. The staff was welcoming and friendly. A few minutes after we placed our order, we were informed that they were out of breakfast potatoes, which was surprising since it was still before 10 a.m. This limited some of the breakfast options, so I ended up ordering the Selden Breakfast (a biscuit sandwich), a kid's chicken noodle soup, a biscuit on the side, and a lavender matcha. The sandwich was delicious, especially after adding the garlic aioli. My only complaint was that the biscuit wasn't served warm, and I think warming it would have elevated the sandwich. The biscuit we ordered on the side was also not warm. The lavender flavor in the matcha was enjoyable, but the drink itself missed the mark. The color and matcha flavor seemed off, and it wasn't mixed well--I could see clumps of matcha powder sitting in the ice. On a positive note, my nephew really enjoyed the chicken noodle soup. Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed by the experience, but there were enough positives that I'd be willing to come back and give it another try.

The young hostess went to the other young hostess (Ali) and loudly said, "they want to move to the booth" and Ali replied with an annoyed sigh. She then led us to our table. Overall, this put a sour taste in my mouth. No customer service, no manners. When I worked in a restaurant as a server, they would've been talked to about how to speak in front of customers- I was really put off. Moving on, our server was spectacular, the guy who maybe was the runner was spectacular, and they both made us feel very welcome on the establishment. The food was great and we were in & out in an hour. We don't come here that often, and we've normally waited for a table when we've come. It has been nearly three weeks; I can stop thinking about No Frill Bar and Grill…read more I'm a military spouse, so I know my time in Hampton Roads is coming to an end soon. I visited a Hampton Roads Restaurant group on FB and asked if someone was visiting from out of town: What is your go-to place to take them? Out of 90+ comments, No Frill Bar and Grill was mentioned the most - six times! So when I finally had a day off and some other business to tend to in Norfolk, it was the perfect excuse to finally try them. No Frill Bar and Grill has been open for nearly 30 years by Jerry Meltsner. Jerry's nephew Jon Kliner helps co-own and manage operations. It originally opened on Tidewater Drive, but the space didn't allow for much growth - 10 years later, he moved to a location off Colley Avenue and Spotswood Avenue. Growth continued, moving from counter service to table service. The second location, at 1620 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, opened in 2005. The restaurant's longevity stems from quality, consistency, price, service, and staff who genuinely care about the business and serving the community. I asked the server for her opinion on two options - Salmon, Shrimp and grits won. The dish was incredible: lightly blackened salmon, for once blackened food that doesn't just taste like salt. I don't dine with the swine, so I asked for no andouille sausage. The sautéed shrimp, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and spinach simmered in Norfolk Canyon ale sauce over cheesy grits and Boursin lavash cracker. The cheesy grits were smooth, and the Boursin lavash cracker was a nice touch. The Boursin added extra creaminess to the meal. The cracker wasn't really a cracker - more like little toasted bread. After this first meal, I know two things for sure: 1. I definitely understand why it is such a local favorite, and 2. I will be back.
