This is my go to source for finding anything I need. I loved the fresh smell of leather that hits you as you walk into this place. This place is busy, quite a bit of people shopping today. From Saddles to your perfect pair of boots, you're gonna find here. I only took a few steps in and this young man approached me and asked if he could help me; attentive service. I'm so glad he did, I would have never found my band, they were off to the left side of the store tucked away in a corner. They had plenty of bands but only 1 that matched my cowprint hat! It had little metal bull head with horns on it. I loved it! I'm pretty lucky, they only had one of these in the rack. I snatched it quickly and made my way to the register. There was another lady waiting at the counter with a cashier, another young lady walked up behing the counter and asked me right away if I needed to be rung up. Talk about quick and efficient no wait service! I was very pleased with my purchase and the helpful, efficient, and attentive staff. I paid a little over 40 dollars for my band but totally worth it. I went into this store because I needed a belt and wanted to browse the cowboy hat section. As soon as I walk in the young female employee with blue eyes and dark hair greets me seemingly normal but when she says "anything I can help you find?" I tell her what I'm looking for and super annoyed, she says "well, they're over there" I decided, cowboy hats weren't my thing so I decided to go glance at the belts at this time and as I'm glancing at the belts, the same female employee follows me with her back turned to me, breaks her neck just to stare at me, look through the belts and has this need to make sure that I am within eye shot at all times and as a black woman, I know that feeling because it's quite familiar. We were looking for a place to get my husband's grandfather's old cream colored Stetson hat cleaned. It had very noticeable grease marks and other stains on it. This place came up on a search. We had never been here before but what a cool store! Opened in 1964, D Bar M touts itself as "A Real Western Store for Real Cowboys" and when you walk in, you would agree! There is pretty much everything "western" here! From saddles to hats to turquoise to boots to clothing and more! I want to go back and spend more time looking at everything but the important thing for this visit was the old Stetson that needed cleaning. The gals working there said it would be no problem to clean it and it would only take a couple days. We decided to pay in advance (it cost $40) and they said they would call when it was ready. Because I received some of the best customer service from the employees at D Bar M. My dad and I were just exploring and didn't really plan on buying anything. But we both ended up buying the most comfortable pairs of shoes ever. These shoes feel like you're walking on clouds. And with my podiatrist yelling at me to stop wearing sandals, this was the perfect excuse to buy a really good pair shoes. These are the type of shoes that will last me a really long time. I urge caution in purchasing boots that are not in stock from D bar M. I ordered a pair of the regular D bar M brand size 9 E boots that were not in stock. The salesman said he had enough orders to order mine immediately, it would be 4 to 6 weeks to get them, I had to pay the $318 up front and could not cancel the order. At 6 weeks I called and was told it would be longer. I asked to call the book maker and was told that company was a secret. I got similar responses to the next 4 calls over a couple of weeks. After my 5th call, the "boot girl" (their term not mine) called back to say we had a "communications error". The boots were not ordered for a month after I ordered them and it would be another two weeks or so. The impression I got from this experience was that D bar M considered this my problem, not theirs and I should patiently wait no matter how long it took . I heard nothing from the owner at all. Got no, "we'll make this right with you" from anyone and got only "I'm sorry for the problem" from the employee as I walked out of the store. I finally did get the boots and they are OK, but nothing that I should have to wait 11 weeks for, especially when I could have purchased a quality pair on the Internet and had them in a week. Additionally, the stitching decoration on the toe of one boot was defective. I have purchased lots of cowboy boots and this is the worst experience I have had. read more
