I took my group for sandwiches from D'Angelo in Middletown, the place was clean and not crowded, however I see they do a bustling pick-up order business. The orders were the Cheeseburger sub, a chicken sub and the grilled vegetables sub. Unfortunately I didn't pay attention when ordering my "veggie sub" I thought I was getting a raw vegetable sub, my mistake, it was alrigh and I did eat it, however I'm not fond of cooked peppers and they overpowered all other ingredients. The Cheeseburger sub looked awesome, and was devoured by the person who ordered it, the chicken sub was looking pretty good and was also consumed with gusto. Its a clean, somewhat efficient sandwich shop. The staff were busy and friendly. Aside of my mistaken order all was great although it was a bit pricy, food for 3 drinks for 2 came to $42. read more

Ordered the lobster salad with balsamic dressing for lunch. Few issues here... Whole green pepper rings, while onion rings are both on my salad yet lunch is delivered to the office with no knife and fork to cut them down. Both seem like an odd addition to a lobster salad but just as you chopped the lettuce, do the same for veggies. A salad of this size needs more than one small dressing. I don't mind paying extra but this little cup barely did anything here. Flavor of the lobster on the salad was decent, nothing to write home about. If I was to order again, I'd try a sandwich instead. read more

What do you mean the toasters broken? So after our Chili's fiasco from yesterday's lunch break (I know you read that review) we decided to come here. The last time I was at a D'angelo was in ME and I really enjoyed getting a sandwich there. Here not so much. You have two parking options. Either park in front of the restaurant with limited space or you can park in the adjacent Mall parking and walk less then a min. The place isn't big but there's seating and plenty of space to move around. The menu is displayed overhead and easy to read. And so was the sign that said their toaster was broken. Now whether I'm in Subway or Quiznos, I always get my sub toasted so this was a real let down. I decided to get the surf and turf. Remember on the East Coast it's all about the chowder and lobster for me. When my name was called I received two 4" sandwiches one lobster and the other a Philly cheesesteak. Both were ok but I know toasted would be much better. The bread just collapsed on each bite pushing the meat out. Both meat portions were small but it was a special so expected. I just know next time to get one big toasted sandwich instead of two itty-bitty ones. The lobster was ok. I was hoping it would be sweet but sadly nothing special. And for the turf well let's just say it was ok. Overall three stars. The workers were busy with the steady flow of customers and no one was able to bust the tables so during busy hours expect to clean the tables yourself. Sandwiches were average at best for me. Pretty average sandwich. We got four steak and cheese sandwiches. The bread was stale and the meat was unflavorful. We all just kinda ate about half of it and threw the rest away. Well I usually go to subway but I was craving a thanksgiving sandwich so I tried it here. I haven't had d'angelos in probably about ten years and I remembered it being good but It was disappointing this time. The place itself is super clean and neat. The staff were very nice. They were welcoming and answered all my questions. It's just the food was blah and kind of pricey for what it is. It's eight dollars for a medium sandwich. I can get a foot long sandwich at subway for six. I found the bread to be kind of tough and not very fresh. The sandwich itself was made quickly and served hot but it lacked flavor. I can't think of any other word but blah. I didn't even finish it which is rare for me. I am thinking I will try another kind of sandwich there for lunch and maybe it will be better before I give up on this place. read more

Except for being so whetted to the Red Sox, this is by far one of the best grinder places I have ever eaten. They have relocated since my student days and the new location seems to serve them well. The decor seems about the same but I noticed they have improved their production processes, putting out orders much faster than what I recall from the past. I asked to speak to the manager and he told me it was a new policy and he calculated that we were 8 minutes away. I told him it was unfortunate that they were losing a loyal customer. I guess I came here with unrealistic expectations for this establishment. I have friends who highly recommended this place during my visit to Newport. I was highly disappointed with the terrible service.. the guy behind the counter seemed irritated that he had to make sandwiches and slammed two trays on the counter really hard and looked at me like I just messed up his whole day. And on top of that.. I really wasn't impressed with the food. I will NOT be back.. not even because of the food.. but because of the rude, disrespectful, and seemingly unhappy staff. My boyfriend and I are frequent eaters here. Probably once a week. We order online & the food is always warm at pick up. The place is neat & clean. One of the managers (she has really cool colored hair) is extremely helpful, hardworking and nice. You can tell she goes above and beyond for her customers. I definitely recommend eating here. (thanks and word to any other cheeseburger sub wanting patrons) So I ordered a "single burger sub" which was called a medium. The cashier said $8.08 please. I said "What? for a single burger on bread?" He looked down at the ground and said "I know", total validity that he knew I was being hosed, So I get my sub and it was all bread with a burger so thin and small I couldn't believe they had the balls to charge me $8.08. I measured the roll it was 5 1/2 inches long and the burger filled about 2/3 of it. I cut up my rewards card. Never again. read more
