Dave's Hot Chicken - My order: Dave's #3 1 Tender & 1 Slider w/ Fries. Delicious!! - Chicken Shop Near Me - Middletown, Rhode Island

First time trying and it was so good that I went back again. The same person at the window took care of me both times. She was pleasant and very helpful. The food took a moment to come out, which seems to me that the seasoning (heat level) after you order. The chicken was excellent and not dry. The fries are typical fries, but they do add a seasoning rather than just salt. The fries were crispy still when we got the food home. read more

Terrible service! Slow and not attentive. Ordered flight of sauce and mozzarella sticks. Mild Chicken too salty, BBQ was bland, honey had mold smell! Ordered Mozzarella stick, breading was soggy and watery inside. Hype was overrated! Never again... read more

One thing about Dave's is the food is consistent. It's not like some days are hit or miss. You always know medium is medium and hot is spicy. They've moved to the whole "order from a kiosk" thing. It can get busy and when it is, it's a wait. I just went Sunday afternoon and it was dead. I came on a mission and was sorely disappointed that that Hot Moz is no longer on the menu. Insider tip: there are hidden rubber chickens all over the restaurant. Can you spot them all? read more

We came here because tik tok told us to. We just had to see what the hype was about. The chicken was handsomely seasoned and flavored. Though we didn't get the meal we actually ordered we weren't disappointed because it was just that good. I rarely eat fast food but I would definitely come back to Dave's when I need a quick meal in a pinch. Drive through was easy to get through and the artwork on the exterior is remarkable. read more

We couldn't leave Dorchester without trying Dave's Hot Chicken. As first-time visitors, my partner and I decided to go all in and order the spiciest option the Reaper so we could determine our preferred heat level for future visits. I have to say, it was easily one of the spiciest meals we've ever had. The cashier even had us sign a waiver for legal purposes, which added to the experience. Despite the intense heat, the chicken was flavorful and well-balanced, not just spicy for the sake of it. The restaurant's airbrushed graffiti-style design created a cool, energetic vibe that made the visit even more enjoyable. We will definitely be back again. read more

Me and my friend ate here once before they closed and it tasted great once got home and ate, great food

Came here again on my way home from making a work trip out to little Compton and the employees here are always super friendly and just amazing! I felt bad for the staff because they had a whole baseball team show up in a bus and I hope they called ahead to give the employees a heads up lol. We all come for the amazing and delicious chicken and the chill vibes and incredible hospitality is just a plus! I always tell people to go there and eat because they won't be disappointed or they won't leave hungry! read more

Dave's Hot Chicken is probably the island's best fast food restaurant. We came here for dinner after I left my day job for the last time. It was late, and we didn't know if it was going to be open. To my surprise, it was. Most places outside of downtown Newport seem to close pretty early. These guys have the spot where Plant City used to be. When we walked inside, it was pretty spacious, and there were a couple of customers. High ceilings, so it's kind of echo-ey inside. I'm a big eater, so when I saw the menu full of things like 2 chicken tenders and the like, I was a bit worried. Turns out, I needn't be. My friend ordered 2 chicken tenders, and they must've came off the largest chickens in existence. I ordered the 40 chicken bites, which must've been hilarious to some people back there, since it's under the "Feed a Crowd" section of their menu. Anyway, I think they make the food to order, because it took several minutes before our order was ready. It wasn't a long time. And honestly, I got impressed by that. You don't find a lot of fast food places that are making the food to order. Second thing that I found impressive... they serve their chicken on top of toasted bread. Why do I find that impressive? Because the toast absorbs extra moisture, and because toast is mostly air, it provides a layer of heat insulation. 40 bites. At the end of the last chicken bite, the chicken was still hot. It's a beautiful and genius move. I got mine with the medium hot sauce. It's not burning hot, but it still builds up pretty well over the course of 40 pieces, and honestly, I like tasting my food underneath the heat anyway. This is currently my favorite fast food spot on the island. My only regret is that they don't have a location close to where I live. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken - 40 Chicken Bites - Chicken Shop Near Me - Middletown, Rhode Island

When I checked out their Rhode Island location, I had the intention of doing what I do best---sampling beverages. I heard they have new top loaded shakes and burstin' slushers, but I was told that I had to try the hot chicken too. Well duh, that's what they're known for. So here's the thing about me. I love anything sweet, and the mango slusher with strawberry popping boba and the Oreo top loaded shake def met that need. I am however not a spicy girly. Anything more than mid BBQ is too much for me. However, I reallllly loved Dave's Hot Chicken! Their chicken slider is perfectly balanced with slaw and when eaten with some fries, left me as one happy girly. This all paired with a sweet bevvy, well it's perfect. You gotta get to Dave's. This location is bright and inviting and the staff is very sweet and helpful. I had a great experience. I might have gone for their cool beverages, but man did I stay for that chicken. Now I understand the hype and why they're popping up everywhere. read more

Came for one thing, and that was the Fallout collab as seen in social media! Unfortunately they were sold out. Plenty of parking and very hard to miss building. Artwork was interesting and caught my eye. It even continued inside and the menu is clear~ staff was friendly and explained our options, and answered all my chicken questions~ the saucy bites can't be mixed in flavors, which was my question. Got some Hot Honey flavor and it was crunch, savory, and filled with meat! My favorite! My partner got the number 3, that included a sandwich, and one tender with fries. I ate the tender, and glad I didn't order the tenders meal. Although meaty and flavorful, it was a tad too dry and definitely needed the sauce addition to give it some moisture back! It was on the salty side~ the fries were good, and crunchy. My highlight was the saucy bites because it does have a good amount! Would I reach for this? This place is far for me, but I do see myself coming here for the urge or some saucy bites every once in a while~ or in the area and prefer a meal versus some fancy Newport restaurants around. read more

Rating: 3.8 My partner wanted to try this place out because of the Fallout collaboration they were doing. It's a fast food style chain hot fried chicken restaurant in MA and RI. Since the closest one was in middletown, RI we visited this location. The exterior of the store has interesting graffiti style art work so you won't miss it. They have a good size parking lot for parking. Inside is pretty spacious and clean and their logo of rubber chicken is shown. There was no one there so we went to order our food at the counter. Unfortunately they didn't have the fallout collaboration goods anymore at the time we went. We got a combo with their 1 tender and 1 sandwich with fries and chicken bites with mike's hot honey sauce and a drink. They give you multiple level of spiciness option and I chose mild spiciness. Drink we got was from a fountain so we went to get some noticed that some weren't restocked even though the place just opened when we went. Probably they don't maintain the fountain drinks that much. The combo came with one hot chicken sandwich, one tender with a bread, pickles and sauces. The chicken was well seasoned, tender and right amount if spice. Their signature sauce was good as well. Everything else was pretty average. The chicken bites were ok. It was 18 piece but had bunch of crumbs that didn't even have any chicken in there. Service was quick and relatively good. Overall it's a decent fast food joint. Could use more work on maintaining the fountain machine and fix the chicken bites to actually include some chicken meat in all of its pieces. If i were to come back i'll stick with the combos and take it to go. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since they announced they were opening. My first Nashville Hot experience being in Nashville has tainted me on every version I've had since, so I wasn't coming in with high hopes. The place is brightly colored inside and out, so no fear of missing it. The people working there were very helpful and nice. I read a couple of reviews here critiquing the service, but this was not the case for me. I got a hot and extra hot sandwich to test the waters, particularly after learning their reaper option required a waiver. I have a pretty good heat tolerance, but figured I'd play it safe. Spoiler alert, I could have done the reaper and will try it next time. The chicken was cooked well, the fries were nice and seasoned and they came out pretty quickly. One of the workers there recommended trying some honey on the chicken and the balance of sweet and heat worked really well. I'll definitely try them again. While the establishments in Nashville don't have much to worry about, this was as good a Nashville hot as I've had in southern New England so far. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken - Two medium with fries - Chicken Shop Near Me - Middletown, Rhode Island

I've heard about the hype on. place when I was in Hawaii. Finally got to try it and the wait did not disappoint. I got the number 3 combo that comes with a sandwich and a slider. The heat level was good. Some places will claim spicy but fail to deliver. I can handle spicy, I ate the hot with no issues but the extra spicy had me sweating. Chicken is seasoned well, food is cooked when you order, so there a bit of a wait but you're getting a fresh product. Inside is clean and spacious. Order a slushy to tame that heat. I'll be back to try their hottest level the reaper. read more

Ok, first timer here and it did NOT disappoint. I wasn't expecting the tenders to have a dry seasoning on them, opposed to the regularly sauced tenders I'm used to. The rub was very good, and kept you going back for another bite. The price is a bit high, but the portion size really makes up for that. As a portly guy who enjoys a self deprecating large portion, the two tenders and fries were more than enough. I had half a tender and enough fries left over to enjoy later. The fries are crinkle cut that are crisp, hot and lovingly sprinkled with the same seasoning as the tenders. Give this place a shot even if you don't enjoy spice. They have options for no spice all the way up to reaper. I'll be back for sure! read more

Solid chicken sandwich, not a ton of options, kind of big space with VERY SLIPPERY FLOORS and graffiti-style decor for (seemingly) buttoned-up, old-money Newport? I will say the value ain't bad - the "sliders" are large chicken tenders on a hamburger bun. Medium spice level equates (to me) like other fast food places "spicy chicken" sandwiches, so if you're expecting actual HOT chicken, go hot on up. Fries were fine, I like crinkle cut but I know I'm the minority. Mac & cheese was also fine - grabbed it as a fallback for my 5 year old and he liked it a lot. It was creamy, not aggressively flavored. Pickles were good. Sauce was good. Wish there was more of the kale slaw, it seemed to be the only thing that makes Dave's standout? Totally fine - not amazing, not awful. read more

The kids have been wanting to try this so we headed there for lunch. The food was prepared to order so not super fast in terms of fast food but it was very tasty. The saucy bites were delicious with a sweet sauce. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy potato on the inside - the perfect crinkly fries. You can choose your heat level. The sandwiches were great with tasty pickles and some nice cabbage on them. The service was prompt and efficient. Definitely good in terms of fast food chicken. read more

The french fries were surprisingly good. Nice crisp crinkle fries, hot out of the frier and soft inside. Spicy dry rub sprinkled over the top. The chicken sandwiches (we ordered no spice, medium and hot) were delicious with great tasting pickles. We also tried the saucy bites (hot honey) which were good but a little on the sweet side. read more

Had to make a quick stop throughout our travels to enjoy Dave's! The drive alone is gorgeous with the sparkling waters, rolling waves, warm sand bars, screaming gulls...we ordered a #4 solder with fries and a lemonade. The street art is gorgeous, hometown nod to the US Navy and windmills and farming industry makes this haunt a must for dine-in! Music is targeted for my age group, VH1 specials - we ate every bite! Service was a bit slow taking 25 minutes to make 1 meal :( read more

Was super excited to try Dave's for the first time and it was awesome! Service was excellent especially for a fast food spot, the manager was excellent, gave us extra Dave's sauce and even brought our food to the table. The inside was very clean and spacious with a really cool vibe going on! They have a drive thru and offer online ordering on their app to review reward points! I went with the tenders and my GF went with the mild sliders. High quality product that's delicious! Highly recommend! Can't wait to go back! read more

Surprisingly Great Spot! I had no idea this was a fast food place, it felt way better than that. The food was super seasoned and full of flavor. I loved the chicken, though it was a lot! Delicious, but I definitely needed a nap afterward. The combos are solid, and everything tasted better than I expected. Prices were a little on the higher side, but they give you plenty of food, so it's hard to complain. Service was generally quick, and the place is open a little later, which is a big plus. Would definitely come back if I needed a hearty meal. Just don't come here if you're counting calories! read more

Went there for lunch today and have nothing special to say. Food was mid and the only really good part was the fries.

Ordered through the website and the guy at the counter actually got our milkshakes wrong but he tried to correct it which was fair game. He seemed to be the type of person that actually cares for their job and tries to actually do their job to the best of their ability, something I don't see too much of where I live (hint, it's not Rhode Island). In typical Dave's fashion, the food was good but not spicy at all. I got the two sandwiches with the fries, one sandwich being mild and one medium. Despite my weak spice tolerance, it was about as spicy as a banana. The Oreo milkshake I got was really good and the chicken nuggets were good too. That Dave's sauce in general pairs well with most of the things on the menu. Food is pricey in typical Dave's fashion but for good food in a clean establishment with friendly service, I can't complain about the price. All I'm saying is that the bathroom was very clean when I went there. They even had those little scented balls in the container and you could tell they actually care about trying to keep the place clean and pleasant. 10/10 would come back but I live hours away so it's not likely. read more

Great employees - not great food. Over priced, under spiced and why put cheese on a chicken tender I didn't ask for?

Slow service, inedible food. It took over 25 minutes on a Weds. night to get two fingers and a slider. The back seemed fully staffed and there were no deliveries listed on the order board, nor any drive-throughs. The few people inside also seemed to have long waits. The fries had a ton of salt on them; anyone on salt restriction should skip them. The chicken seasoning (both mild and medium) was also too salty to enjoy. We asked for pickles on the side, but they overlapped the fingers and added more saltiness. The "kale slaw" was cole slaw with a single piece of kale on it. On a positive note, the servings of chicken were a good size, and the chicken was both crunchy and juicy, just too salty to enjoy. For people who like super salty food, and are prepared to wait for it, this might work, but not for us. read more

they had great service over here and there food tasted absolutely delishish in my stomach

It's really unfortunate because the chicken is great but the service is the worst I've experienced on the island. I stopped by when they first opened, went inside, ordered a couple different things and it took 45 minutes for them to get my order correct. I gave them a pass since they were so new but since then I've gone back a few times it's always a total mess. One of the times, the guy working the drive-through didn't even acknowledge my existence, just took money, finally handed me my food and then went back to texting.. I just went back and ordered at the drive-through again. I had two people in front of me in line, and sat there for a half hour without moving. I was really hoping that they would have their stuff together by now, but unfortunately, the service really just makes his place a bust. read more
