I have had two rotator cuff surgeries over the past decade. Following each surgery there was a very protracted period of physical therapy lasting for 6 months or more. During my lifetime, I've also had occasion to require physical therapy for other conditions. Consequently, I have seen many physical therapists. I am presently in week 14 of post rotator cuff surgery therapy and I'm happy to report that I have found the absolutely BEST physical therapist! Her name is Lynn and she works at D & H Therapy, in Smithfield, Rhode Island. She is extremely competent and genuinely concerned about you. Therapists I've been to before Lynn were quite content to direct you to perform various exercises and then simply watch you perform them at each session. How Lynn is different is that she is a teacher. She explains things to you in a language that is understandable and helps you to understand the process of therapy and guides you through the entire process, from beginning to end. She is kind and gentle (within the limits of the therapy) and truly listens. She is forever optimistic and upbeat - she makes therapy enjoyable, if you can even believe that! If there were a six-star rating, I would have chosen that. Unfortunately I've had my fair share of visits to a physical therapist. I'm usual not thrilled about going, I feel like it never makes a difference. In my experience they put you on various machines and have you do exercises while they treat 4-5 other patients. Well, if you are looking for a different experience go see Lynn at D&H (Greenville office). Not only is she fun and charismatic, but she treats her patients individually for about an hour. During that one on one time she has you do exercises, but unlike other PTs she stays with you to ensure you do them correctly to prevent further injury. Lynn takes a very hands on approach, which not many PTs seem to do any more. She is truly passionate about the work she does and is willing to address multiple issues. I went in for a car accident and before I knew it she was helping to treat my chronic headaches which I've learned to live with for 15 years. I recently had to have PT for recovery from a broken wrist. Having previously been impressed with my experience with D&H Therapy, I returned there without hesitation, and was glad I did! From the administrative staff to the therapists, all are skilled, thorough, and caring. The earlier than you might think appointments I was able to schedule worked out great with my 8:30-4:00 workday and I didn't have to use any "time-off" benefits. I was in quite a lot of pain for over a year and searching for answers.I had already been to two chiropractors and a PT and had terrible experiences with all of them. I was refered to P.T. After a shoulder injury. I found Lynn at D&H by chance and it proved to be most fortunate for me. Lynn's approach is to treat you at the office and also to teach the exercises you need to know to build strength and control pain. I highly recommend d&h therapy. I was referred to them by a coworker who Lynn had helped 10 years ago . Lynn is incredible! I was comfortable with her from day one.She is totally focused on each patient. I looked forward to my sessions because she made it fun which helps with the pain . While I was recovering from back surgery at Cherry Hill Rehabilitation Center I met Lynne of D&H Therapy. As soon as she entered my room and we spoke and she evaluated me I knew I wanted her for my physical therapist. She seemed so bright and cheery and obviously a very gifted therapist. I was a little timid about the process of physical therapy. Lynne seemed to bring out the best in me. She made me feel confident and I did very well at my therapy sessions with her. My grandma has had to hip replacements and shoulder problems. She would miss out on events because of the pain. This is a godsend. My grandma can now move looking normal and is so happy with the results. I came today with her and the staff is so nice. I was even able to come into the room to sit with her.
