    Holloways was a place I would recommend to others and was often the first place I would check when…read moreseeking a new appliance. That changed with my most recent purchase. I ordered a washer from Holloways. The sales person knew very little about the machine and handed me a pile of spec sheets as an answer to my questions. I bought the washer based on reviews from others, as the information from my salesperson was limited. I was ready for the delivery and made it as easy as possible. First issue was the washer would not fit through the basement doorway. Every other purchase from Holloways came with a request to measure to ensure nothing would prevent delivery. The delivery personnel had to take the unit back and I had to reschedule. In the process of bringing the unit in and then back out, the washer was scratched on both sides. I don't care too much about the scratches, but it is an indication of the lack of attention to protecting someone's home and purchase. The second delivery attempt was made and I cleared my basement and removed a panel wall to allow the delivery to take place using the hatchway. The delivery personnel refused due the very thin layer of snow on the grass. Fine. I asked them to put the unit in my garage and assemble the pedestal and washer. Instead, they put the washer in the garage, hoped in the truck and left. No assembly work was completed. On top of that they did not remove the broken washer I was replacing. I had to remove and discard the old unit, move the new unit to my basement, and complete the assembly and hook up on my own. In their haste to leave, they did not provide the screws to attach the hardware for the pedestal and washer. I have since found some of the sheet metal screws in my driveway. There are 22 screws that are missing. I have found seven. I will be submitting all damaged tire claims to Holloways for reimbursement. The delivery team left the screws in my driveway, so they are responsible. On top of the delivery experience at least one of the delivery personnel smelled like marijuana. It is legal in CT, but I don't want to smell it in my home. When I spoke with Steve the manager today, he had no idea why I was calling even though a sales person provided him with the background. He basically seemed bothered that I returned his call. The warehouse manager applied a credit to my card for my trouble. I certainly appreciate the partial refund, but I can no longer recommend Holloways based on my experience.

Ordered a 48" range online at an excellent (but not…read moreunique) price, website claimed it was in stock and that I would need to pick it up at their West Hartford warehouse. Got a confirmation E-mail stating order would be "processed once payment was confirmed" (odd, since CC payments are generally automated these days). Next day, I got what appeared to be an automated E-mail (no name or phone number, DoNotReply sender) stating that their "policy" was that I would need to come to their store in person to confirm identity & credit card, and that the item was a special order (not in stock after all, I guess!). Since it's a 4-hour drive each way, going there twice defeats the purpose of an online order... When I called to try to clear things up, "Jack" told me the item was not in stock and that there appeared to be a pricing error (more alarm bells start up in my head). After consulting with his manager, he did call me back, to tell me that the part number is not on the Kitchenaid site, so they can't even order it, and they don't have it in stock. I just went back on their site, and they still list that exact part number listed (KFID948SJP), but at a much, much higher price, of course. When I expressed my displeasure and asked to speak to a manger, it went to voice mail. The only excuse offered was "the website is pretty automated". I get that mistakes happen, but reputable stores make some effort to make it right with the customer. A retail store is responsible for their advertised pricing.
