I have had a few issues with my Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. Each and every time Gordon Keeler responded immediately to my service calls. Most recently my Wolf Microwave/Convection oven stopped heating just days before the Christmas holiday. Gordon was at my home the same day I called to access my issue. Parts were ordered and the appliance was back in order by Saturday afternoon. I know I would have been without my second oven had I purchased appliances anywhere else and especially from a big box store. I would not consider buying appliances anywhere else. My experience was classic bait and switch. Got a confirmation E-mail stating order would be "processed once payment was confirmed" (odd, since CC payments are generally automated these days). Next day, I got what appeared to be an automated E-mail (no name or phone number, DoNotReply sender) stating that their "policy" was that I would need to come to their store in person to confirm identity & credit card, and that the item was a special order (not in stock after all, I guess!). Since it's a 4-hour drive each way, going there twice defeats the purpose of an online order... When I called to try to clear things up, "Jack" told me the item was not in stock and that there appeared to be a pricing error (more alarm bells start up in my head). After consulting with his manager, he did call me back, to tell me that the part number is not on the Kitchenaid site, so they can't even order it, and they don't have it in stock. I just went back on their site, and they still list that exact part number listed (KFID948SJP), but at a much, much higher price, of course. When I expressed my displeasure and asked to speak to a manger, it went to voice mail. The only excuse offered was "the website is pretty automated". I get that mistakes happen, but reputable stores make some effort to make it right with the customer. A retail store is responsible for their advertised pricing.

I recently replaced my original dw with a new Asko from Ackerman's, whose technician and I ran into problems that called for an oscillating saw (neither of us had one and it would have taken an hour to locate and obtain one from a neighbor) but were solved with hammer, chisel, muscle, and skill (none of it mine). The technician suggested getting a new filter, which was definitely needed, but it didn't fix the issue, so I called again a few days later. Kim had a tech over within the hour. Turned out it was owner Joey Rogers and he zeroed right in on the problem: the water line to the fridge had been turned off for some reason! Duh!! An ice-making, water-dispensing refrigerator needs a running supply of water! (Now, to be totally fair, the first guy was still in training and not having yet had multiple on-the-job experiences, I could see how easy it would be to overlook the most obvious answer. It's like calling tech support with a computer problem: a newer guy might first look for a more complex solution. The seasoned pro simply asks: "Is it plugged in?") As Joey made sure the water/ice dispenser was working properly, I went into interview mode, learning more about his company's history, their service area, the number of staff, etc. -- and I tell you, if I didn't love my job, was 30 years younger, and wanted a secure future -- I'd seriously look into the plumbing profession! When he left (saying there was no further charge), I said: "Well, welcome back to the old days!"
